You're Strong But Now You're Mine

Chapter 518: The Great Script

The tainted earth has heard more unyielding screams than the clear sky.

Smiling fiercely, he gazed at the dirt before him. His breath exhaled golden blood that flowed into the ground, his mouth covered in dust, his face full of unwilling hatred.

He had been cast down to the mortal world.

"Military Strategy Theory," he had also studied it. Like the eighteen Combat Techniques, Glorious Military Strategy had no threshold restrictions; anyone could learn it. He had learned the entire book at a second-rate military academy in the Xia Mu district.

The thirty-six chapters of Military Strategy Theory primarily discussed the coordination and use of various terrains, types of troops, and weather conditions. It was hailed as the ultimate military manual under the sun where no battle was novel anymore. But military strategy is a game between people. So, no matter how good a student's grades are on paper, they might perform worse on the battlefield than a veteran sergeant who has crawled and fought for ten years.

But no matter what, military strategy is used to command large units in battle. Coordinated tactics like those of Cha Huan, Yu Ke, and Xie Chenyuan were unheard of to Smile! What kind of military strategy is this? Cha Huan, what exactly are you teaching? Adaptation is not random fabrication. Is it really okay to teach like this?

Smile's suspicions were correct. This was indeed the result of Cha Huan's adaptation of military strategy education.

In fact, there was no so-called "coordinated tactics" in Glorious. Before firearms appeared, those who reached the Peak of Perfection were considered land Immortals. No matter how many people joined forces against them, in an Immortal's eyes, they were mere ants. After firearms appeared, as long as you surrounded someone at the Peak of Perfection and fired several rounds of bullets, you could turn them into a sieve. There was no need for coordination.

In cross-realm battles, coordination is useless. In battles within the same realm, it's even more useless—Martial Artists are all of flesh and blood. As long as one is entangled in the front by an enemy of the same realm and another stabs from behind, the enemy has to either defend their back or front. What need is there for coordinated tactics?

Besides, whatever the collaboration entails, it requires a long time to acclimate. Isn't it better to use that time for cultivation, calling reinforcements, or setting traps? Once a member gets wounded or killed, the newcomers have to go through acclimation again. This back-and-forth makes the training cost of coordinated tactics exceedingly high. At best, it would gather the same combat technique practitioners into a charging team, similar to hundreds of sword-wielding Martial Artists collectively slashing forward, turning a single Martial Art into a wide-range AOE effect.

There is coordination in multi-person battles, but there are absolutely no coordinated tactics for many against one.

Studying coordinated tactics is undoubtedly a low cost-performance business, unreachable by anyone but geniuses. Unfortunately, this world has people like Cha Huan, who are both geniuses and have the leisure.

As a lecturer of "Military Strategy Theory" for years, Cha Huan became bored with rote teaching and also wanted students to exercise, so he came up with the idea of "forming an army alone, military coordinated attack," and actually developed usable coordinated tactics for real battles.

Cha Huan even considered adding military coordinated attacks into the Imperial Academy curriculum, increasing student workload, but gave up after review: even though it had been greatly simplified, military coordinated attacks still require long periods of acclimation. Without teammates equally adept in the technique, military coordinated attacks become worthless, making it not worthwhile for the average person to learn.

But as the DLC for "Military Strategy Theory," military coordination allows for a nuanced review and injects a lot of fun into lectures. So, during Cha Huan's teaching years, he had students practice military coordinated attacks.

The innovation of military coordination lies in the fact that as long as you know "Military Strategy Theory" and know what military position you represent, you can substitute yourself into the theory and know what to do. Even if teammates are newcomers, remarkable cooperative combat can be executed.

However, after Cha Huan withdrew from frontline teaching, this DLC was abolished. It's not that military coordination was bad, but any teacher apart from Cha Huan teaching "Military Strategy Theory" well is already quite an achievement; they didn't have the extra capacity to add a DLC.

Military coordination, therefore, became an exclusive skill of the Imperial Academy graduating students in those years. That being said, those students didn't expect this skill to ever be useful — would they come across an enemy that couldn't be defeated without coordination? If faced with such an enemy, would there be classmates nearby proficient in military coordination?

Thus, Smile's only failure was due to his bad luck.

Twelve Guard Commander Yu Ke, outstanding graduate of the 2068 class and head of the Celestial Radiance, first in the whole academy in "Military Strategy Theory" performance.

Statistical Department Head Xie Chenyuan, outstanding graduate of the 2071 class and head of the Celestial Disaster, first in the whole academy in "Military Strategy Theory" performance.

Principal Cha Huan, professor of "Military Strategy Theory," inventor of "Military Coordination".

No one in the entire Glorious qualified to confront the three of them together. Tonight was a miracle that couldn't be repeated.

When Smile was knocked down, Yu Ke and Xie Chenyuan realized that if it hadn't been for the three of them being here tonight, any other martial pillar would have been annihilated by this Behemoth Demon Emperor.

"Celestial Mandate is mine!" Yu Ke roared, the spear's flame tip turning golden as he thrusted, cold light preceding him, lighting up ten steps!

"Glorious Protection." Xie Chenyuan's fingers lightly flicked, sending out blue sword threads, but unlike before, the threads didn't detach from his fingertips. Instead, they extended like his nails, ensnaring Smile as if a spider hunting, eerily sinister!

Cha Huan looked at Smile's back with a trace of pity in his eyes but still condensed a sword-finger, slashing towards Smile's neck.

"In your next life, be a human."

Just as the three fatal strikes were about to land, Smile's single eye was bloodshot, lips bitten by fangs until they bled. He suddenly looked towards the night sky and let out a piercing shriek!

At that moment, the Blood Essence Stone not far away exploded with a beam of blood-red light, like a stone thrown into a lake, sending ripples of blood outward!

Cha Huan, Yu Ke, and Xie Chenyuan were instantly repelled by the shriek. It was a technique on par with the Perfect Integration Realm in coordinated warfare, and with Smile using his vast Spiritual Power, the resulting shockwave was akin to a train crash.

But it was just that. The trio now prepared, if Smile tried the same trick again, they could naturally counter with their own coordinated warfare. They guarded Smile's three flanks, with Yu Ke in the east, Xie Chenyuan in the west, and Cha Huan above.

Smile realized something, standing up and laughing angrily, "You think I want to escape? Do you think I, the Demon Emperor, the last Behemoth, would run away!? Hahaha!"

"Are you suggesting you want to lose again?" Yu Ke mocked, holding his two long spears.

"Lose?" Smile grinned menacingly, "Do you think a casino loses to gamblers? Do you believe loan sharks lose to debtors? Don't say killing me is impossible; even if you could, my victory wouldn't change one bit."

"You think my previous howl was a charge horn for the Demon Race? Wrong, it was a victory cheer. My victory was destined from the beginning, destined from the moment I survived today!"

"What makes a great script great?" Smile roared arrogantly, "Because it's an irretrievable fate, unchangeable!"

Clearly, Smile couldn't match the trio's coordination, but strangely, Cha Huan, Yu Ke, and Xie Chenyuan felt a vague fear in their hearts. They weren't afraid of Smile but feared some… overlooked key.

"Awooo!—"

Just then, a wolf howl sounded not far away, and Cha Huan quickly glanced over, his expression changed dramatically!

In the distance, across from the dark Nagasis, was a snow-white man-wolf. It howled at the night moon with blood-stained eyes of madness, suddenly charging towards the street below, swinging claws at the approaching Twelve Guards!

These weren't the issue. The issue was… the clothes the man-wolf wore, those of the Patrol and Punishment Department Head, those of Mo Yu!

In an instant, Cha Huan thought of many things. He also realized, there was nothing he could stop.

Because, Yanjing, was just a small part of this chessboard.
