Thronebound Summoner

Chapter 76: Fall of Molowisk

Fay struck soldiers down with ease; his new dagger sent them flying or slicing them.

The slave owners, on the other hand, ran; they stopped all attempts at trying to attack Fay at once, even going so far as to get their bodyguards to step in and have creatures summoned to attack the boy.

Fay was glad, though; he needed mana cores, and taking them off creatures was the best way to heal himself.

He let Jolt and Grin out to help him with this task, knowing full well both beast would need their own share of mana cores, but with so many people and creatures to fight with, it wouldn't be hard for each one of them to find their own share.

Somni, on the other hand, hid in the shadows, going to the strongest of the enemies back to stealthily bring them down.

That particular creature no longer needed aether stones—its new tentacles could drain aether in mere seconds upon contact.

The only drawback was that Somni had to remain anchored to one enemy at a time.

Grin's monstrous form made several mercenaries cower.

As for Jolt, he passed what little aether he could provide to Fay before transforming into a menacing, circular saw of lightning that carved through enemies.

No one had been prepared for this battle.

Fay not only fought relentlessly but also helped the captive demi-humans escape. Some rallied around him to assist, while others simply ran for cover.

Among them was a werewolf-like man with a well-defined torso and the stance of a seasoned fighter.

Though relegated to the role of a box carrier, he had retained much of his former strength.

With Fay's help, he retrieved a weapon and armor from a fallen soldier and joined the effort—striking down guards and helping free others.

As for the dragon guarding the entrance, it had grown to twice its original size.

It swung its tail with such force that it broke down the surrounding walls, sealing off all routes of entry and escape.

It was busy tearing through the army that had been summoned to stop it, only growing stronger with every kill.

Fay didn't care. He was far too focused on his own battle.

Grin remained close, guarding him from sudden attacks, while soldiers and newly freed slaves fought around them.

Jolt surged through the chaos, delivering electrified sweeps that stunned and scattered their enemies.

Chaos rained in Molowisk.

No one was safe—not the king who stood above it all, gazing out the window of his throne room, nor the villagers scrambling for shelter in the caverns within the city walls.

From outside the walls, where Horin stood, it was clear something terrible was happening.

Even from her vantage point, she could hear the cries of civilians and the roaring clash of a large beast that had just shattered a section of the outer wall.

It collapsed as if struck by a massive explosion.

The three-meter-tall gate was hurled from its place atop the ten-meter-high barricade, crashing down and leaving a gaping opening.

The unit of over two hundred soldiers who had exited the fortress, ready to receive the incoming slaves, couldn't find a way back inside.

Then, the Ravari and Eluwyn outside the wall saw a figure descend from the sky. A young, black-haired Eluwyn woman landed stealthily, immediately severing bindings and slaying guards.

Some of the nearby elves began to cheer as they recognized her.

Moments later, another figure arrived—a man accompanied by a massive running bird.

Together, they dispatched more guards, the bird kicking open the cages with its powerful legs and breaking them free.

Weapons were passed to the Ravari, who wasted no time joining the fight. The Eluwyn began casting spells to support the escape.

The twenty or so captors could only watch as the slaves fled past them.

As for the army that ran to help their kingdom, they were still too busy clearing debris to re-enter the city, desperate to confront whatever creature had been unleashed within.

Whether it was a rogue summon or intentionally set loose didn't matter now.

Their city was under siege, and they were the elites—it was their duty to reclaim it.

When Horin asked about Fay, someone told her he was the cause of the chaos.

She froze for a moment, turning to look back at the city—now steadily crumbling under the weight of destruction.

At the boy still trapped in the heart of it all, possibly without a clear escape.

"Don't worry… he'll manage. I know he will. He didn't take the easy way out—he dove in headfirst. And then there's his new creature… I wonder what it is to cause that much devastation…"

The Mistwalker who had come with Fay urged Horin—who was beginning to fall behind—to quicken her pace.

They needed to hide for the time being and slowly figure out a safe route back.

Fay, meanwhile, was cutting core stones from the hides of fallen creatures. He allowed his monsters to harvest as they pleased, not wanting to get his own hands dirty with the cores of the hums.

As his energy returned, he resumed the fight.

His three creatures, on the other hand, had an easier time gathering aether from the dead—especially Grin, the gluttonous beast who could swallow a human whole with a single bite.

The area around him had turned barren.

The city stood mostly empty, with only the distant sounds of battle echoing through its streets—along with the cheers of freed demi-humans of all kinds.

There were Ravari and Eluwyn, but also others: Durnhar, Drelkan—like the werewolf man who now fought beside Fay as his main ally—and Brundari, who resembled bulky, tusked humanoid pigs.

There were even reptilian demi-humans: the Nokar, serpentfolk with smooth scales and long limbs, and the Zirkin, lizardkin with hardened hides and sharp eyes. Fay often mixed them up, but now wasn't the time to learn about each race.

They were gathering as a group, waiting for Fay to find a path forward.

He already had an idea: use a concentrated lightning strike on a weakened wall section after his dragon rampaged a little more.

The only problem was that they had to stay hidden—from that very same dragon, now drunk on destruction and still hungry for more power.
