Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds

Chapter 312: 129 Beast Tide (Please Collect)_2

"Yes," McDonald said, nodding solemnly, many of the wrinkles on his face smoothing out as he spoke, "You just need to give me a corner to set up a table, and I'll give the shop thirty percent of the consultation fees. If medicines are needed, I will recommend those sold in the shop first."

He clearly saw the value in the shop's foot traffic. Setting up a consultation booth here would attract more customers.

Similarly, having a skilled Doctor in residence would also bring more business to the pharmacy.

"Hmm…" Carl said noncommittally, then asked, "Which medical arts are you particularly good at, sir?"

"I am especially skilled in treating poisoning and psychological trauma, and I also have a certain degree of understanding of Bloodline Magic," McDonald revealed. "If Mr. Karl is not convinced, you can ask me any question, or let me try for a while. People from Mulan Market have likely heard of my name. One can't fake medical skills."

"Ah!" At this point, he sighed. "Actually, if I hadn't focused all my attention on medicine, I might have become an Official Wizard. Honestly, I regret it now."

"I do believe the old gentleman has real skills," Carl said with a smile, "However, it's unfortunate that we can't keep you here. You should try someplace else."

"Hmm?" McDonald frowned. "Why?"

"This shop is a property of the Six Rings Tower, and I've been instructed not to let outsiders interfere," Carl explained. "I'm helpless in this matter. But I believe with the old gentleman's medical skills, finding a place to settle should be quite easy," he added, looking at McDonald with a faint smile.

He certainly couldn't say that there was something peculiar about this man that made him uncomfortable, and that was why he was refusing.

Originally, Carl had intended to agree. After all, it was a chance to increase revenue, and there was no need to refuse. But after meeting the man, he immediately dismissed the idea.

This McDonald had concealed his true power, and his methods were extremely sophisticated; even an Official Wizard might not be able to see through them. It was only because the aura around him resembled that of the Abyss that Carl sensed something was amiss.

An Advanced Wizard Apprentice? No! It must be an Official Wizard. An Official Wizard, hiding his cultivation level, to work as a doctor in my shop? There's definitely something strange about that.

"Well…" McDonald began, his expression awkward. He hadn't expected such a blunt rejection. "Alright then!" He was visibly embarrassed, not even having been given a chance to demonstrate his medical skills.

"Since that is the case, I will ask across the street." His eyes narrowed as he said, seemingly casually, "Perhaps they will make some space available."

"That's good," Carl nodded. "Good luck to you, sir."

If he goes to the pharmacy across the street to offer consultations, he'll definitely take business from here. Still, that's better than harboring a time bomb.

McDonald shook his head and strolled across the street, his interest piqued by the shop opposite.

「Shortly.」

The informant Trish returned and reported that McDonald had been taken in by Allen's Little Shop and had set up a simple stall.

"Mr. Karl, I think that old gentleman really has genuine skills. Why did you send him away?" Trish voiced his confusion.

"No reason." Carl waved his hand, then called his guard, Jie, and asked, "I seem to remember that the beast tide in the Magic Forest usually occurs only once every thirty or forty years, right?"

The Magic Forest was dangerous precisely because of the beast tides.

The Gods' War in Ancient Times had caused abnormal environmental conditions in this region. Periodically, the various creatures living there would become agitated, lose control, and surge toward Human Clan settlements.

Each beast tide was accompanied by many deaths.

People living on the edge of the forest, upon detecting signs of a beast tide, often fled to other places.

The McDonald mentioned earlier had come to Leipzig Market from Mulan Market because of the beast tide.

"Yes!" Jie nodded in response. "Usually, it's once every thirty or forty years, but there are exceptions. Records show that at times, over a hundred years have passed without a beast tide.

"Sometimes it's just every ten or twenty years.

"But…" He hesitated, then continued, "if the interval is too long, the danger of the beast tide tends to be greater; conversely, if the interval is short, the danger is less. I remember one beast tide from my childhood that destroyed two markets. Leipzig Market itself was established after a beast tide. Since the interval this time is so short, the danger should be minimal."

"Understood!" Carl nodded. "Inform Sam and the other suppliers that starting tomorrow, we need to double our Potion orders.

"And for Senior Brother Charlie, make sure to stock up on more Radiant Potions as well."

"Yes." Jie nodded. "I'm on it!"

The news of the beast tide spread quickly. In just a few days, everyone in the market was aware of it.

"Did you hear? The beast tide is coming!"

"The last beast tide was twenty years ago. Why is it coming so quickly this time? It looks like a lot of people are going to die!"

"Near Mica Market, a Second Order Creature has appeared, and it's said that two Official Wizards have already died."

"Oh, the beast tide! Who knows how many will die this time?"

To ordinary people, a beast tide was an unavoidable disaster, but for some, it was an opportunity.

For instance, shops!

Originally, due to the impact of the beast pills, Allen's Little Shop had sparse business. Even with Doctor McDonald consulting there, it had only slightly improved.

Now, everyone knew that once the beast tide reached the market, all sorts of supplies would skyrocket in price, so they were all stockpiling goods.

Even Potions with a limited shelf life were being bought frantically, causing Allen's Little Shop to gradually become overcrowded.
