Days of Dungeon: From Simple Quest to Strange Adventure

Chapter 121: Afterword - Annual-Caravan Quest I Arc

Hey'a!

It's UelUel, your lazy and lousy PoruShark Writer.

If you've made it to this fourth Afterword, thank you so much for your continued support of my book Days of Dungeon: From Simple Quest to Strange Adventure

Let's dive into a quick discussion about the inspirations and references behind the events of the Annual-Caravan Quest I Arc, as well as a recap of all the characters featured in this arc—both returning and new ones.

---

About the Annual-Caravan Quest I

The twist of this quest was simple:

What if the entire town suddenly became a dungeon?

Not exactly a twist? Perhaps it's more of a trap, then.

This arc is divided into two parts:

First, the journey from the Capital of Eileen Kingdom to Mirare Town.

This part focuses on reintroducing all the previous supporting characters, along with the new ones who will play a role in this arc and the next.

Second, the dungeon incident at Mirare Town.

This is the highlight of the story, showcasing two different unique types of dungeons rather than the classic monster-infested kind. It also introduces a glimpse into Arezu's backstory.

I hope the clash against the undead Visages of the townsfolk—and the individual Visages born from each characters' Envy, especially Arezu's Envy, the Visage of the Unknown Girl—got you hyped.

Hopefully, the introduction of both returning and new characters, along with all the teasing, mischief, drama, and playful romance, kept you entertained.

Inspiration & Background

Here are some of the inspirations behind this arc:

1. Mirare Town Dungeon Incident

Inspired by all the zombie stories—from movies, anime, manga, and manhwa—that I've seen so far.

The Visages aren't exactly zombies but undead doppelgängers based on a person's reflection in the mirror. When someone is dragged into the mirror, the Dungeon devours the victim and creates a Visage to replace them—imitating their daily life by day and capturing more victims at night.

2. Crystal Mirror Dungeon

Inspired by the Ruins of the King's Tomb from the anime and manga Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

If you've watched Frieren (and if not, I highly recommend it), the monster within the tomb—called a Spiegel—creates illusory doppelgängers.

In this arc, the Crystal Mirror Dungeon creates Visages born from envy, based on how much someone knows and understands the person they envy. The deeper the knowledge and emotion, the stronger the Visage becomes.

3. Visage of the Unknown Girl / Arezu's Envy

Inspired by Saber Alter, the corrupted version of Artoria Pendragon from Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel.

4. Arezu's Mysterious Power

Inspired by Archer's Noble Phantasm from Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works.

More about Arezu's power will be revealed as the story continues.

Final Thoughts

This fourth arc was the longest so far—with 48 chapters from prologue to epilogue (including the Archive recap), since this arc consists of two parts. Regardless, I think the pacing remains fast and engaging.

The next one will likely be around the same length, and I'll continue adding Afterword chapters after each arc.

That wraps up the Afterword for the Annual-Caravan Quest I Arc!

Next up is the final arc for Volume 1, so stay tuned.

More simple quests and strange adventures await Arezu and Lynn.

Oh, and another thing—The book isn't as popular as I hoped it would be. But fear not, dear readers, for I'm dedicated to finishing this story.

Your support through power stones, gifts, subs, and maybe a bit of advertising help would mean a lot.

More chapters are on the way, so keep reading:
