Gamers Are Fierce

Chapter 416 Shy

"So confident?"

Nelson shrugged his shoulders (since he had no head, this movement looked particularly awkward and grotesque). "Well, I'm not a judge, a chief prosecutor, or a moral beacon. Let the chair make the judgment."

With that, the lights refocused, and the wooden chair beneath Li Ang began to glow green.

"Another correct answer!" Nelson raised his arm high and shouted, "Let's congratulate our contestant!"

There was no applause from the audience; instead, a chorus of boos arose. Clearly, the audience did not agree with this judgment.

"Whether this contestant is a self-centered fanatic who believes himself to be right, or a heartless madman who despises everything in the world," Nelson said somewhat helplessly, "these are the answers from deep within his heart. In any case, let's move on to the next question."

He pulled a new card from his pocket, and the narrow eyes on his chest made a winking gesture. "Hmm... this question is quite interesting. Do you think you are base, stubborn, paranoid, radical, arrogant, narrow-minded, and vengeful?"

"Heh." Li Ang chuckled. "That question is a bit unprofessional. Human nature itself is chaotic, ever-changing, influenced by the outside world, and cannot be precisely described with words."

Nelson also flashed a grin. "You just need to follow the guidance of your heart and answer yes or no."

"Hmm..." Li Ang thought carefully and then said seriously, "I can only say that, looking back over the years of my life, considering my actions and inner thoughts, I believe I would fit the generally accepted definitions of those words in most scenarios."

"...This contestant is indeed very cautious." Nelson scratched his nonexistent neck and said dryly, "I'll just summarize this long-winded response as 'yes,' then. Let's see if he is right."

The sound effect played, and the green light flashed.

"Wow," Nelson exclaimed in surprise. "It seems our contestant is truly something else. Maybe after the show, I could refer you to a psychologist. You need more professional help."

"Better not," Li Ang laughed. "If I had a dedicated psychologist, he might develop social anxiety from treating me and refuse to communicate with me."

"So they'd either become like you or go insane?" Nelson spread his hands. "Then I truly pity those who have to live with you daily. It must be very hard for them."

Li Ang just chuckled and said nothing.

"Next question." Nelson cleared his throat. "Currently, do you truly cherish anything enough to be willing to give up your life for it?"

After pondering for a moment, Li Ang looked up and replied, "Yes."

Hearing this response, Miss Chai's heart skipped a beat. Li Ang cherished his life to an extreme. To avoid exposing his real-world identity, he would repeatedly disguise himself and meticulously erase his tracks. When necessary, he could even resort to extreme measures, eliminating any potential threats that might reveal who he was.

Even after all they had been through together, Chai Cuiqiao couldn't be certain if she had truly understood Li Ang—understood the true self hidden beneath his cynical facade.

The one thing Li Ang would be willing to die for... it had to be Wang Congshan, right...

A maelstrom of irritation, sadness, resentment, and a barely perceptible trace of jealousy churned in the depths of Chai Cuiqiao's heart, but she did not show it.

"Oh? Even someone like you has something they would sacrifice everything to protect or pursue..." Nelson nodded noncommittally. "So, the answer is..."

He paused for a few seconds until the green light came on, and then he announced loudly, "Correct!"

Sporadic applause, mingled with faint boos, echoed through the venue, as many in the audience seemed dissatisfied with this answer.

The host quickly waved his hands, signaling for the audience to calm down. "The real excitement is still to come! Everyone, please calm down, calm down."

Once the audience members who had stood up sat down again, Nelson wiped the sweat from his forehead (since he had no head, he actually wiped his chest) and continued, "Next question. Right now, do you harbor special feelings, beyond mere friendship, for two different individuals of the opposite sex?"

After asking the question, Nelson slowly placed the card on the table and gave Li Ang a knowing wink.

From the audience seats, sounds of the gossiping crowd exclaiming, "OOH~" could also be heard.

What?!

Miss Chai felt her heart begin to pound, and her face flushed hotly.

Could it be... No, that's not right. She and he were just... well, in *that* kind of relationship. They shared a sleeping room and handled all aspects of their daily life—eating, drinking, personal matters—together. And that Wang girl only had opportunities to be with him during school hours... But... would he mind that I've been married before? Society has become more open, but wouldn't such a relationship still cause controversy...

Miss Chai's eyes seemed to spin like mosquito coils, her mind filled with scenarios reminiscent of 'overbearing CEO falls for me' romance tropes. She occasionally let out a silly giggle, muttering lines like, "Childhood sweethearts can't compete with a fated encounter!" and "But you were here first!"

Li Ang, oblivious to Chai Cuiqiao's inner turmoil, scratched his head in resignation and said to the host, "Yes."

"Ooh~ It seems we have a two-timing situation here~" Nelson said with a knowing expression, teasing, "Being unfaithful doesn't lead to a good end, young man. Even if you aren't hacked to pieces with a cleaver, you'll face misfortune in your old age. You'd better think carefully."

Li Ang spread his hands, showing no fear.

"Alright, next question." Nelson drew another card, partially obscuring his face with it. "The person you have feelings for... is she in this world?"

Li Ang's smile slowly faded.
