Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 337: A Different World Foggy Plains

"So that's how it is!" After listening to Lei Qinian's words, Jun Moxiao fell into deep thought.

Finding the remaining Thousand-year Heavenly Moon Cassia Tree was indeed difficult. In the entire Heavenly Moon Secret Region, it was like searching for a needle in a vast sea; the difficulty was beyond description.

The Monkey Leader's earlier statement, while not definitively proving it was the edge of the Heavenly Moon Secret Region, certainly indicated a terrifying place. And it seemed no Human Cultivator had ever entered this place. There was no record of it yet.

Jun Moxiao mulled it over; he still felt he should go and try his luck. Even if it costs five God-level Dragon and Tiger Pills, it would be worth it. Otherwise, wandering around blindly like this would only make me more desperate.

After making up his mind, Jun Moxiao took out five God-level Dragon and Tiger Pills, handed them to the Monkey Leader, and said in a deep voice, "Brother Monkey, please take us to that place."

The Monkey Leader nodded. It identified the direction again, quickly took to the sky, and flew rapidly ahead. Its flight speed this time seemed to be double what it was before.

Jun Moxiao was delighted. This would greatly increase their efficiency.

Lei Qinian and Jun Moxiao closely followed the Monkey Leader, with a large troop of monkeys trailing behind.

Along the way, they still encountered Cultivators from various major powers, including those from the three major Sects, especially the Disciples of the Xuanyang Sect. However, everyone was quite spread out now, and seeing such a formidable procession, no one dared to try and stop them. Everyone's current task was to search for golden laurel fruit, and no one wanted to get into unnecessary disputes.

The Monkey Leader flew steadfastly in a specific direction for a full seven days before finally stopping in front of a large, raging river. This great river flowed out from between valleys, surging powerfully into the distance.

After pondering for a few seconds, the Monkey Leader took flight again, this time heading upstream along the rushing river. Jun Moxiao and Lei Qinian continued to follow. Although they had been flying for seven days, neither of them showed any signs of fatigue.

Instead, a strong conviction grew in Jun Moxiao's heart. Perhaps this time there would be an unexpected gain.

After flying continuously upstream along the river for another full three days, Jun Moxiao saw a tall, white waterfall rushing down from a cliff. The waterfall was wide, its torrential waters pouring down ceaselessly. This river was formed by the waters of this waterfall.

The Monkey Leader chittered twice, then pointed its staff in the direction of the waterfall.

Jun Moxiao was taken aback for a moment. What does it mean? Are we going behind the waterfall? he wondered.

Before he could react, the Monkey Leader suddenly shot into the air, heading straight for the roaring waterfall. With a SWOOSH, its body pierced through the waterfall, plunging directly into it. Jun Moxiao and Lei Qinian had no choice but to follow closely.

The waterfall looked imposing, but it was actually just ordinary water, having no impact on Cultivators at their Nirvana Realm.

After passing through the waterfall, they found a hidden space—a pitch-black cave appeared behind the cascade. The Monkey Leader stood at the cave entrance, waiting for the two humans to fly over before continuing.

Jun Moxiao suddenly noticed that the other monkeys had not followed them in.

"Brother Monkey, your clan members didn't follow us in?" Jun Moxiao pointed out.

The Monkey Leader lifted its staff, waved it in the air twice, but did not respond, continuing to fly forward.

Lei Qinian's expression flickered. He transmitted his voice in a whisper, "Could there be some danger ahead? Perhaps it doesn't want the other monkeys to risk themselves?"

"That's possible," Jun Moxiao nodded, also sending a voice transmission in reply.

After flying into the cave, they traveled for about an hour before seeing a patch of light shining at the far end.

"So there really is more to this cave!" Jun Moxiao exclaimed, surprised, and quickly followed the Monkey Leader.

After flying out of the cave entrance, they saw an endless expanse of green plain before them. Thick fog permeated the distant parts of the plain. The fog covered a vast area, and the far-off plain was entirely enveloped in white mist, with nothing else visible.

Once they were hovering above the plain, the Monkey Leader stopped advancing. It pointed at the fog ahead with its staff and squeaked twice.

Jun Moxiao understood. So this is what the Monkey Leader considers the boundary. For the monkeys, this place must be terrifying, which is why they don't dare to enter.

"Thank you, Brother Monkey. We'll go explore it now." Jun Moxiao cupped his fists in salute, gave Lei Qinian a meaningful look, and the two of them immediately flew off into the distance.

The Monkey Leader watched the two humans, a flicker of terror still evident in its eyes. It seemed as though something terrifying, something it dared not approach, existed within the fog.

Jun Moxiao and Lei Qinian had been flying towards the fog on the plain for less than the time it takes half an incense stick to burn when, suddenly, numerous rays of sword light shot out from afar. These sword lights, of various colors, halted around the Monkey Leader, their forms gradually revealing themselves. These sword lights resolved into a large number of Cultivators.

If Lei Qinian had been there, he would have recognized them at a glance: these were Cultivators from the three major Sects.

"Just as I thought! This monkey knew some secrets after all. By following it, we've entered this miniature haven!" A red-robed youth gazed into the distance, his face alight with a fanatical expression. This youth was, naturally, a Disciple of the Xuanyang Sect.

"Your Xuanyang Sect has rendered a great service this time. If we discover the Thousand-year Heavenly Moon Cassia Tree and obtain Tianyue Osmanthus Fruits, your Xuanyang Sect alone will take a forty percent share." A white-robed youth gazed at the distant plain and said with a smile. He was a Disciple of Zhengyi Jianmen.

"Let's go, let's go! Let's see what treasures this never-before-seen Foggy Plains contains!" From another direction, the leader of a group of black-robed youths spoke impatiently. After speaking, he was the first to shoot off into the sky, with the other black-robed youths following closely behind. These were Disciples of the Mo Xue Sect.

The four major powers of the Heavenly Moon Dynasty were the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird, the Xuanyang Sect, Zhengyi Jianmen, and the Mo Xue Sect. Disciples of the Mo Xue Sect were known for their volatile tempers and their love for bloodshed and killing.

These three major powers had come to the Heavenly Moon Secret Region this time, but members of the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird were conspicuously absent. The Disciples from these three major powers found it somewhat strange that the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird had not sent any Disciples.

These Disciples from the three major Sects who had entered the Heavenly Moon Secret Region were only at the Nirvana Realm and thus did not have access to core secrets. However, the upper echelons of these three major Sects already knew that the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird had undergone a drastic change. The Sect Master and several Elders of the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird had perished. The Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird was now completely sealed off from the outside world, having activated its Mountain Protection Array.

「...」

As the Disciples of the Mo Xue Sect flew off into the distance, the Disciples of Zhengyi Jianmen and the Xuanyang Sect, unwilling to be left behind, also raced towards the Foggy Plains.

The Monkey Leader, its staff slung over its shoulder, squinted its eyes as it watched the Disciples of the three major Sects. It shook its head gently and let out a sigh.
