"Scram?"
Jun Moxiao stiffened, a wave of anger surging in his chest.
This red-clothed youth was too arrogant. Not only did he snatch the golden laurel fruit that they had discovered first, but he was even telling them to beat it.
Jun Moxiao immediately drew his Chaos Element Unlimited Sword, ready to charge forward and engage in battle with this red-clothed youth.
"Brother Jun, this guy is from the Xuanyang Sect," Lei Qinian abruptly grabbed Jun Moxiao's arm, murmuring softly.
"Xuanyang Sect? Never heard of it." Jun Moxiao shook his head, his eyes gleaming with deadly intent.
Seeing such murderous intent on Jun Moxiao's youthful face, Lei Qinian couldn't help but be startled. As the killing intent radiating from Jun Moxiao intensified, how could he possibly know how many people Jun Moxiao had actually killed?
"The Xuanyang Sect is one of the four major forces in the Heavenly Moon Dynasty. Just like the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird, they are both Superior great sects," Lei Qinian explained in a low voice.
Although the red-clothed youth opposite them was at the Nirvana Realm Third Level, he definitely shouldn't be underestimated. Who knew if other Xuanyang Sect disciples were lurking nearby? If they angered this red-clothed youth, they would likely invite retaliation from the Xuanyang Sect. And with Jun Moxiao only at the First Level of the Nirvana Realm, Lei Qinian was also worried he would rush up and needlessly get himself killed. Of course, if there was real danger, he wouldn't just stand by; he would naturally help Jun Moxiao deal with the red-clothed youth. But if that happened, they would both offend the Xuanyang Sect and could invite violent retaliation from its other disciples. As a result, neither of them might be able to complete their respective missions.
Lei Qinian, being older and more mature than Jun Moxiao, naturally considered more factors. He could be patient, but Jun Moxiao, barely thirteen or fourteen, was at an age where, like a newborn calf unafraid of a tiger, his youthful impulsiveness often got the better of him.
"Since you two know I'm from the Xuanyang Sect, why don't you scram now!" the red-clothed youth sneered, preparing to pop the golden laurel fruit he'd just picked into his mouth.
Even though it's only a centuries-old laurel fruit, it can still help improve one's aptitude, he thought.
"Go to hell!"
Lei Qinian had his reservations, but Jun Moxiao had none. With a furious roar, he activated the Dragon God's Nine Changes Method, transforming into an illusory Divine Dragon and lunging at the red-clothed youth.
A stream of sword light, intertwined with the phantom of a Divine Dragon, descended upon the red-clothed youth.
The mocking expression on the red-clothed youth's face suddenly froze. He hadn't expected that the youth at the First Level Nirvana Realm opposite him would actually dare to attack, even knowing he was a Xuanyang Sect disciple!
Angry, he retaliated with a backhand sword strike; a swathe of red sword light, like a sea of fire, poured down from the sky.
BOOM!
Jun Moxiao's sword strike, like a Jiao Dragon emerging from the sea, directly tore through the sea of fiery sword light and descended upon the red-clothed youth.
The red-clothed youth, sensing imminent danger, immediately retreated. But he was half a step too late; the sword instantly carved a deep, bloody gash on his shoulder.
Blood gushed out.
The red-clothed youth stared at Jun Moxiao, his face filled with horror. A mere First Level Nirvana Realm boy wounded me with a single strike! This fellow's strength is not to be underestimated!
"Here!" He hurriedly hurled the golden laurel fruit in his hand towards Jun Moxiao, then transformed into a red light and vanished into the air.
By the time Jun Moxiao caught the golden laurel fruit, the red-clothed man had disappeared.
"Good heavens!" Lei Qinian walked over, a shocked look on his face. "Brother Jun, I didn't expect you to be this strong! You wounded him with a single strike despite being two realms below that Xuanyang Sect disciple. You are truly worthy of being a disciple of our predecessor."
"You're too kind, Brother Lei." Jun Moxiao smiled sheepishly and put away his Chaos Element Unlimited Sword.
"Try this fruit quickly; I've heard it's delicious," Lei Qinian said with a soft laugh.
"Since Brother Lei is so generous, I won't be polite." Jun Moxiao chuckled, then brought the golden laurel fruit to his lips and took a bite.
A sweet, delectable sensation filled his mouth, flowed down into his abdomen, and immediately transformed into a cooling feeling that spread throughout his entire body. At that moment, he sensed some kind of change within his body, but when he tried to pinpoint it, he couldn't find where the change had occurred.
Encouraged, Jun Moxiao unceremoniously ate the rest of the golden laurel fruit. After finishing it, he felt his body become somewhat lighter.
"Brother Jun, we should hurry and leave. That Xuanyang Sect disciple who escaped might call his sect members to seek revenge on us," Lei Qinian cautioned, glancing around warily in a low voice.
Jun Moxiao also nodded gravely. Even though he had struck out in anger and wounded that Xuanyang Sect disciple, he realized he had probably stirred up significant trouble. Now that they were in the Heavenly Moon Secret Region, things were completely different from the outside. Here, he could only rely on himself and Lei Qinian. If the Xuanyang Sect sent many cultivators, the two of them alone likely wouldn't be able to defeat them; there was even a high chance they could perish.
Thinking of this, a strong sense of crisis welled up in Jun Moxiao's heart.
"Brother Lei, I'm sorry for dragging you into this," Jun Moxiao said, his face etched with guilt.
"Brother Jun, don't say that. In this Heavenly Moon Secret Region, we are brothers who will live and die together. I need to complete the task my ancestor entrusted to me, and you need to complete the task your senior assigned you. Neither of us can afford to die here," Lei Qinian said, clapping Jun Moxiao on the shoulder.
"Let's go, Brother Lei." Jun Moxiao nodded, his expression more somber than before.
Lei Qinian surveyed their surroundings, chose a direction, and then quietly led Jun Moxiao away from the area.
「Not long after the two of them left.」
Immediately, four or five Xuanyang Sect disciples landed at the spot.
When they didn't find Jun Moxiao and Lei Qinian, they cursed a few times and departed.
"Relay this message to all Xuanyang Sect disciples within the Heavenly Moon Secret Region: if you see these two loose cultivators, kill them without mercy!" While in flight, one of the young men issued the command, his face cold.
Another young man beside him immediately took out several Flying Swords. With a flick of his hand, these Flying Swords flew off in all directions.
Sword-flying Messenger.
The Xuanyang Sect disciples would likely receive these sword-messages soon. Once they found those two, they would be annihilated with a single, decisive strike.
Lei Qinian, after all, had roamed the Jianghu for years and understood its intricacies. Therefore, he was extremely cautious as he led Jun Moxiao onward, quickly taking cover whenever he detected anyone nearby.
Thus, a day passed, and the two of them remained unharmed. Although they hadn't encountered any danger, they also hadn't made any significant gains. They hadn't even found a single century-old laurel fruit.
Jun Moxiao, however, was rather indifferent. After all, his mission for entering the Heavenly Moon Secret Region was simply to find the Cassia Tree and hang the token on it.
And Lei Qinian, focused on finding the thousand-year-old laurel fruit hidden by his ancestor, naturally wouldn't bother competing with other cultivators for mere centuries-old ones.
"Brother Lei, where exactly is that place you mentioned?" Jun Moxiao asked while they were resting on a large boulder.
"Don't be anxious. The Heavenly Moon Secret Region is extremely vast. It will probably take four or five days to get there from here," Lei Qinian replied with a smile.
