The Quantum Path to Immortality

Chapter 156: Four Souls Ascending

The dimensional boundary between the multiverse and the Infinity Realm shimmered before them—a barrier that normally represented absolute separation. Ascension was meant to be a one-way journey, irreversible, solitary.

But Elias Vance had never been good at accepting "normal" limitations.

"Everyone ready?" he asked, his hand already manipulating hidden principles to create a stable bridge across dimensional boundaries.

Kaelen stood beside him, her cultivation base at perfect 100% Reality Law radiating calm confidence. "I've been ready for months. Let's see this realm you've been telling us about."

Aria bounced on her heels with barely contained excitement. "Father, can we really ascend as a group? The ancient texts say ascension must be solitary—one soul transcending at a time."

"The ancient texts didn't account for certain advanced techniques," Elias replied, his method forming a shimmering pathway through the void. "I can stabilize the transition for all three of you simultaneously. The Infinity Realm's suppression will be minimized, and we'll arrive together."

Sarah stood ready, her Sovereign-level aura carefully controlled. She'd never made this journey before—she was born in the infinity realm a s a new born baby, spending eighty-five thousand years alone. This time would be different. This time, she had family.

"The technique is ready," Elias announced. "Kaelen, Aria, take my hands. Sarah, you can manage your own transition—just coordinate with my timing."

They formed a loose circle, Elias's quantum energy wrapping around them like a protective cocoon. The dimensional barrier began to thin, responding to his Stage 4 Dimensional Infinity comprehension.

"Here we go," Kaelen said, squeezing Elias's hand. "Our next great adventure."

Aria grabbed her father's other hand. "Together."

Sarah smiled, moving closer to the family. "Together."

[META BREAK]

Elias paused mid-technique, his Quantum Divine Processor detecting something wrong with the narrative structure itself.

"Wait," he said, his voice somehow addressing a space beyond the story. "Author?"

[Yes, Elias?]

"You forgot someone. Someone important who should definitely be here for this moment."

[I... what? Who?]

"Lumie. Our crystalline pet. Kaelen and I got her on our first date—she's been with us for over a century. She's family. And you just... forgot she existed?"

[Oh. Oh no. I did forget. I'm so sorry! I've been juggling so many plot threads and characters and—]

"I understand you're busy," Elias interrupted, his tone carrying that particular blend of logic and disappointment that only he could manage. "But Lumie is important. She's been there for every major moment in our lives. And you were about to have us ascend to the Infinity Realm without her?"

[You're absolutely right. I apologize. Let me fix this immediately.]

"Thank you. Optimal narrative structure requires consistency in—"

"Elias," Kaelen interrupted gently. "Stop lecturing the author about optimization. Let them write."

[I appreciate the defense, Kaelen. Alright, here we go...]

The sound of cosmic keyboard typing echoed through the dimensional void, and suddenly—

[META BREAK ENDS]

—Aria stumbled slightly as weight suddenly materialized in her arms.

"Wha—Lumie!" Aria laughed, adjusting her grip on the crystalline creature that had definitely not been there a moment ago. "Where did you come from?"

Lumie chirped—a sound like wind chimes made of stars—and nuzzled against Aria's chest. The creature was about the size of a small cat, made entirely of living crystal that refracted light into impossible colors. Her surface showed swirling patterns that reflected the emotions of those around her.

"I was just about to ask where she was," Kaelen said, relief evident in her voice. "I couldn't remember seeing her this morning."

"That's because she didn't exist until five seconds ago," Elias muttered, too quietly for anyone but Sarah to hear.

Sarah gave him a questioning look, and he just shook his head. Some things were too meta to explain properly.

"Well, she's here now," Aria said, scratching behind Lumie's crystalline ears. "And she's coming with us, right? We can't leave her behind."

"Of course she's coming," Kaelen said firmly. "She's family."

Lumie's crystals glowed brighter—her way of expressing happiness—and she chirped again, this time sounding almost smug.

"Alright," Elias said, adjusting his technique to account for one additional passenger. "Everyone ready? Including our crystalline family member who definitely, certainly, absolutely was always going to be part of this?"

"Stop being weird, Father," Aria said. "Let's go!"

Elias activated the quantum bridge, and reality fractured around them.

The sensation of crossing dimensional boundaries was indescribable—existing in multiple states simultaneously, being both here and there, experiencing infinite possibilities collapsing into a single outcome. For most beings, the process was traumatic, disorienting, potentially consciousness-shattering.

But Elias's quantum stabilization made it almost gentle.

Kaelen felt the transition as a smooth glide through probability space, her Reality Law comprehension recognizing the fundamental shift even as it happened. She crossed from finite reality to infinite reality, from the multiverse to the Infinity Realm, and her cultivation base immediately began adapting.

Aria experienced it as a sudden expansion—her awareness growing, her understanding deepening, her perception of infinity transforming from theoretical knowledge to direct experience. Her Quantum Law comprehension surged, resonating with her father's technique, helping her navigate the transition.

Sarah simply felt relief. Coming home after a year away, but this time bringing the family she'd never thought she'd have.

Lumie chirped continuously throughout the journey, her crystalline form glowing with bioluminescence that somehow made the dimensional crossing easier for everyone.

And then they arrived.

The Infinity Realm manifested around them—vast beyond comprehension, dense with energy that made the multiverse feel like a shadow by comparison. They materialized in the arrival district, a massive plaza designed specifically for receiving ascended beings.

Kaelen's first breath in the Infinity Realm was sharp. The air itself was thick with compressed Law energy, every atom vibrating with infinite potential. The suppression hit her immediately—a weight pressing down on her cultivation, dampening her power, making movement require actual effort.

But it was manageable. Elias's quantum field had softened the impact significantly.

"This is..." Kaelen looked around, her eyes wide. "The energy density is incredible. I can feel Infinity Law in everything."

Aria set Lumie down gently, and the crystalline pet immediately began exploring, leaving little glowing footprints on the plaza's concept-matter surface. "It's like trying to swim through honey. Everything feels heavier."

"That's the realm's natural suppression," Sarah explained. "It affects all newcomers. But compared to what they experience, this is nothing.—" She shook her head. "Elias's technique reduced it by at least 80%. You're both adapting much faster than normal."

Indeed, Kaelen was already adjusting her cultivation base, her 100% Reality Law and 85% Quantum Law working in harmony to counter the suppression. Within minutes, she could move normally, though she could feel the constant pressure at the edges of her consciousness.

Aria adapted even faster—her 89% Quantum Law comprehension giving her unprecedented control over probability states. She simply existed in the state where the suppression affected her minimally, and the realm grudgingly accepted this quantum loophole.

"Fascinating," Kaelen murmured, studying the plaza around them. "The architecture exists in multiple dimensions simultaneously. That building over there—it's occupying at least seven different spatial configurations at once."

"Twelve, actually," Elias corrected. "Your perception will adapt with time."

Other ascended beings were scattered around the plaza—new arrivals like them, though all solitary. Guards watched from designated positions—Adept-level cultivators whose job was to ensure newcomers didn't cause accidental damage while adjusting.

One guard approached, his aura carefully neutral. "Welcome to the Infinity Realm. I'm Administrator Koreth. I need to verify your—" He stopped, staring. "Wait. Four of you? And... is that a crystalline luminescent creature?"

Lumie chirped at him and made a rude gesture with one paw. Somehow.

"Yes, four of us," Elias said calmly. "Myself, my wife, my daughter, and a family friend. Plus our pet."

"That's... families don't ascend together. That's not possible." Koreth looked genuinely confused. "Ascension is an individual journey. The dimensional barriers don't allow—"

Koreth pulled out a crystallized record device, clearly trying to figure out what protocol applied to this unprecedented situation. "I need to report this. Please wait here."

He rushed off, and Elias turned to his family. "This might take a while. The bureaucracy here is extensive."

"Speaking from experience?" Kaelen asked with amusement.

"I've spent a year navigating it. You learn the patterns."

More guards were gathering now, along with curious cultivators who'd noticed the unusual group. Whispers spread through the plaza:

"Did they just ascend together?"

"Is that even possible?"

"That woman—isn't that Celestial Epicure Amadeus? The Sovereign?"

"And that man—wait, he looks like Elias Vance, the one who broke through two stages in a single battle!"

"They're together? What's their relationship?"

Sarah sighed. "Here we go. I'd hoped to ease back into the realm quietly."

"Quiet was never an option," Elias said. "Not after I destroyed nine hundred realities fighting Marcus."

"You did WHAT?" Kaelen stared at her husband.

"It was during a friendly spar. I'll explain later."

Aria had wandered off slightly, examining the plaza's arrays with intense interest. Lumie followed her, chirping occasional commentary that somehow sounded sarcastic.

"Aria, don't touch anything," Kaelen called. "We don't know how things work here yet."

"I'm just looking! These arrays are fascinating—they use infinite recursion to stabilize dimensional overlaps. Father, could we replicate this in our mansion?"

"We already have similar arrays," Elias replied. "I'll show you when we get home."
