Rise of the Harem King

Chapter 193: One week is more than enough.

Norman was typically a lazy man who preferred to stay within the confines of his small, unremarkable city, where he spent his days doing little more than lounging about and indulging in pleasures.

It was highly unusual, therefore, to see him make the long journey to the floating island of Enki just to watch a small tournament.

He had been spurred to action by a particularly infuriating rumor: his own disgraceful son, Davi, was supposedly on the verge of reaching the rank S.

This was a success Norman found utterly unbearable. He had hoped that by this point, Davi would have already been eliminated, but his opponents proved to be frustratingly useless and weak.

This spectacle only fueled Norman's rage, making him grow angrier and angrier with each passing match he was forced to endure.

In the end, his patience snapped. The man, who was never good at controlling his own volatile emotions, decided to storm the arena.

He jumped onto the fighting stage, his electric power bursting forth like a madman's, as he began to make his absurd and impossible demands.

His plan was simple: he would give Davi a brutal beating and publicly force him to abandon his life as an explorer. After all, he couldn't stand the thought of his son achieving success, especially since he didn't have powers of his own.

But Amelia wouldn't just watch that.

Normally, she would just send some of Enki's guards to deal with that, but that opponent was not someone other could deal with.

After all, Norman had once been the most powerful professor at another renowned explorers' academy: Midcagar.

His reputation there was unmatched, but after having a heated argument with practically every staff member, he decided to retire rather than bend to their politics.

Still, even from a distance, Amelia could feel it: this man was still dangerous. He wasn't just strong; he was easily more powerful than the second most capable person on Enki. And yet, despite that, Amelia was absolutely certain she could win.

Without hesitation, she teleported directly into the arena, her boots striking the stone floor with a measured rhythm as she closed the distance.

"I don't recall ever asking for your opinion," she said in an icy tone, her gaze locking on Norman.

The man didn't waste a heartbeat. He thrust his hand forward, summoning a violent <Thunder storm> that ripped through the air toward her.

The sky above them roared and split with blinding arcs of electricity, but Amelia didn't even flinch. In the blink of an eye, she displaced the attack entirely, teleporting straight back toward its caster.

Norman's eyes widened, surprise flickering across his face as his own magic crashed into him, forcing him back a step. The crackle of residual lightning danced across his coat before fading.

"I will give you one chance," Amelia said, suddenly materializing just a breath away from him, her voice low but sharp. "Leave. Right now. Or I will be forced to kill you."

The only reason she hadn't already moved to end him was simple: Norman was too powerful. Killing him would be neither quick nor clean, and she wasn't in the mood for an exhausting battle. If he had the sense to back down, this would be over before it truly began.

But Norman's smirk told her otherwise.

"You think I'm afraid of you?" he said, brushing off a faint scorch on his sleeve. His eyes narrowed, and the mana around him surged like a rising tide. "You've gotten cocky since last we met."

The ground beneath them began to hum as the arena's protective wards flared to life, sensing the impending clash.

Noticing that, with a flicker of her fingers she sent everyone that was watching or working on the tournament away, just to make sure they would be safe.

Everyone with the exception of Davi.

Without any hesitation, Norman advanced with attack with all his power. He activated his <thunder cloak>.

In a single breath, Norman's body ignited in a violent halo of light, arcs of raw electricity tearing through the air around him.

Then Norman moved.

It was like he vanished. His figure blurred into a streak of blinding blue-white light, zigzagging across the arena faster than most eyes could follow.

The shockwaves of his sudden accelerations cracked the stone under his feet, and every impact left molten scorch marks where his boots had touched down.

But Amelia was never there.

Every time he closed the distance, every time his electrified fist or blade-like arc of lightning was about to connect, her silhouette shimmered, and she was gone.

Norman's frustration began to boil over. He pushed his body harder, the light around him flaring brightly and his strikes came faster.

"You can't run forever!" Norman roared, his voice vibrating with the crackle of power.

"Who said I was running?"

She appeared just behind Norman after evading his attack once more. A small sphere of mana concentrated at the tip of her finger, and she shot a beam of mana that pierced straight through the man's defenses, opening a hole in his shoulder.

Then before the man could get back to the fight, Davi attacked him with a fully charged <Supernova>, the man who was too focused on Amelia didn't react fast enough and was forced to absorb the attack head on.

The massive attack forced him back, but it was not enough to defeat the man, but he was already panting a little, as he had used a lot of energy.

"What is this stupidity, father?" DAvi exclaimed with an angry voice. "Why are you acting like a spoiled kid," he stepped forward with a confident gaze.

"First of all, you have no chance in this fight, and soon there will come reinforcements, so if you don't stop here, you will just die," Davi said. "Besides, what the hell do you wnat with all of that?"

Davi activated the <Supernova> once again, his body was having a hard time dealing with such a big usage of mana, he was almost spent, but he ignored the pain.

"But, if what you want is to fight with me, I can give you that, but we must do things properly."He said with a confident tone. "Give me one week, and we can fight to the death, useless man."

Amelia gave Davi a surprised look; she wasn't expecting that, but Davi couldn't back off at that point. He needed to defeat this man.

"So… Do you accept it?" He extended his hand to his father.

"Yes…" Norman said with a frustrated tone. Then as he also extended his hand to shake his son's hand, Davi launched a <Supernova> directly to his father, which was taken by surprise again and almost got killed.

Before things could get too dangerous, Amelia teleported Davi away and did the same to Norman that was too tired to resist.
