Rise of the Harem King

Chapter 190: Semifinal

"Okay, I think I'm ready," Davi commented after a final training session with Alexia.

Among his girlfriends, she was the fastest. He wanted to train his body to naturally react to the speed of his opponent in the semifinal.

He could only hope that this training would be enough. After all, being eliminated by stepping out of the arena within seconds of combat would be very humiliating.

That's why for this fight, he decided to use a shield instead of his usual sword. This would make it easier to block that man's attacks.

Anyway, he went to the arena and after waiting a while, everything was ready.

Davi stepped into the arena. Before him, Antum held his spear with a confident smile. But he didn't say anything to Davi; in fact, he seemed lost in his own world.

"You may begin," the judge announced.

Antum didn't hesitate. As soon as the judge gave the signal, he advanced gracefully with brutal speed. He was even faster than in the last fight. All Davi saw was a blur approaching as the warrior's spear cut through the air.

The sound of impact echoed loudly as Davi raised his shield in time, the metal vibrating with the force of the blow. Even with the block, the momentum threw him back like a rag doll. His feet skidded on the stone floor of the arena, but he still couldn't stop.

At that moment, instinct spoke louder than reason. The same second he felt his body approaching the edge of the arena, he instinctively created a thick wall of ice behind him.

It rose with a dry crack, solid and icy, and he collided with it forcefully. The impact made him lose his breath for a moment but prevented him from leaving the arena.

Davi took a deep breath, the shield still vibrating in his arm, and looked forward.

Antum, seeing that, sighed lightly. It would be much more convenient if his opponent were defeated in the first blow. But with no other choice, he used the <Accelerate> ability combined with <Spear that Cuts the Winds>, preparing to advance again.

Davi soon noticed Antum approaching again, his eyes fixed on him. Approaching close enough, Antum gracefully spun in the air, brandishing his spear almost as if he were elegantly dancing.

Davi defended himself from the relentless sequence of attacks, maintaining his defense as best he could. But he couldn't help but notice how with each attack, his opponent seemed to become a little slower. At least he no longer showed the brutal speed of his first blow.

Davi breathed a sigh of relief, focusing on defending himself. That first attack was not Antum's standard speed, but rather a blow using everything he had.

His strategy was to try to defeat his opponent with a surprise first attack. If he could throw the opponent out of the arena, victory would be guaranteed.

"You're annoying," Antum commented in a tired tone, moving away a little. "Your defense is impressive."

"Thank you," Davi said, unsure how to react.

Antum said nothing more; he didn't like to talk more than necessary. As it became clear that he didn't have enough power to break Davi's defenses with just the skills he was using, the boy decided he would need to do even more.

His muscles tensed, and he activated <Limit Break>. Then he quickly brandished his blade in the air. Davi thought he would dodge at first but was caught by surprise when he noticed cuts spreading across his body as if invisible blades were hitting him.

Antum also had the <Air Slash> ability.

Feeling that the fight was getting dangerous, Davi quickly activated <Advanced Beast Transformation>, fortifying himself. Then he dodged a quick lunge from Antum at the last second. His spear, which was aimed at his chest, only grazed his shoulder.

Antum didn't give his opponent a second to breathe and returned to the attack.

The metallic sound echoed through the arena with each clash between Antum's spear and Davi's sword. The attacks came fast, precise, and merciless.

Davi retreated step by step, feeling the weight of the constant pressure. The cutting wind of the attacks whistled around his ears, each blow threatening to open gaps in his defense.

"Damn it," Davi raised his sword at the last instant, deflecting the blow that would have hit his temple. The impact reverberated through his arms, and he barely had time to regain his balance before Antum was already spinning his spear for another attack.

The spear blade descended diagonally, and Davi responded with a strong block, sliding his foot to brace himself. At the same instant, he used <Ice Magic>, raising a crystalline wall between them.

Antum didn't stop; the spear pierced the ice, cracking it like fragile glass. The dry crack of the break echoed, and the cold air was swallowed by the scorching heat that Davi conjured immediately after using a <Fire Torrent>.

The flames exploded forward, engulfing the space between them. Antum jumped to the side, his body cutting through the air like an arrow.

Then he tried to use his <Air Blade> to attack Davi from a distance, but the boy blocked using the same ability. The air blades collided, forming a short tornado that soon disappeared.

But seeing how Antum was already firing a gust of air in his direction, Davi blocked with an ice wall this time. The ice burst into a thousand fragments, shimmering in the air like crystals, but it was enough to defend himself.

Running out of time, Antum clenched his fists and advanced with everything he had.

Approaching close enough, he continued brandishing his spear, attacking in irregular patterns, alternating low cuts with unpredictable thrusts.

Davi barely had time to breathe, using his sword to deflect, blocking some blows and using ice walls to prevent the most dangerous attacks.

But, seeing an opening, Davi counterattacked, a horizontal cut, followed by another vertical one, forcing Antum to retreat a step.

Seeing that the man had retreated, Davi fired his flames once more; however, the opponent spun, creating a small tornado that blocked the blow. But Davi wouldn't give him the chance to approach easily again and fired a <Fire Breath>, keeping his opponent away for a few more seconds.

Then Antum brandished his spear aggressively, the winds created by it traveling throughout the arena, extinguishing the fire in an instant.

Davi groaned in pain, feeling dozens of small cuts spread across his body. Throughout the arena and even in the stands, objects cracked with the force of that gust of wind.

Davi held his sword firmly, preparing for the next blow, but...

"I give up," Antum commented, turning to the judge.
