Re: God of Formation.

Chapter 139: The Prophet

Inside the temple, Jun Wu and Mei Ling were stunned by what they found.

Standing at the center of the temple was a massive, complicated ancient rune etched on the ground.

Just a glance, Jun Wu could count thousands of runes linked together. This was just a fraction of the real runes.

However, his attention merely lingered on the rune before his eyes shifted to the person behind the massive, complicated rune.

He could not tell their gender. The person sat on an ancient imposing wooden throne that emitted terrifying pressure.

Mere looking at it made their heart shudder.

A mere throne made them shudder.

Terrifying!

Then what about the person that sat on it?

They dared not continue on the train of thought.

For the person that sat on the throne, the person was garbed in a plain ash robe that looked ordinary, with a hood over its head.

But they would be foolish to think of it like that.

Suddenly, a voice came from beneath the hood. The voice belonged to a woman. It was ancient.

"Finally…" The ancient woman's voice trailed off as if trying to remember something.

After a while, a deep sigh echoed in the quiet temple.

Without seeing her face, Jun Wu and Mei Ling felt they were laid bare before the ancient woman. All their secrets revealed.

"Hmm? Your souls are still pure…" She trailed off once more before she added. "I also sense something I've never sensed before… Interesting."

Listening to her monologue, Jun Wu and Mei Ling did not dare interrupt her. They held their breath, waiting for her to speak to them.

After whispering and contemplating for over an hour, she finally shifted her attention to them.

"Children, what brings you to my temple?" She asked slowly.

Jun Wu and Mei Ling looked at each other before she stepped forward.

"Senior, we're here to find out about what is going on and why there are so many ruins appearing." She bowed, her voice filled with respect.

"Ruins are now appearing?!" Her voice was laced with a slight shock but she recovered quickly. "I guess it is inevitable."

She paused, lost in thought once again.

This time, Jun Wu and Mei Ling had already gotten used to her quack.

"Are you here to stop the inevitable?" She asked, though she already knew the answer.

This time, it was Jun Wu that spoke.

"Yes, we hope you can enlighten us."

She shook her head. "How do you find me?" She asked, ignoring Jun Wu's request.

"We found a journal of Lord Tian Yu. He left a map behind which led us here."

"Hmm. Hmm! Now, understand." A deep sigh echoed in the temple once again. "That kid has always been meticulous. It's a shame he was born in this cursed world."

"You should leave…" She said, "The end is coming. You should cherish your last days."

"Senior, we can't leave until you tell us what we want to know." Jun Wu's voice was filled with firm determination.

They had faced many dangers that almost took their lives just to reach here. And now, she merely told them to leave.

How could he accept that? Even an animal wouldn't accept that.

Besides him, Mei Ling's expression turned ugly. They merely asked her to enlighten them why she would chase them out.

Suddenly, a thick tension hung in the temple. With each passing second, the tension grew heavier and the space around them seemed to get closer.

However, Jun Wu was not scared nor intimidated. If she was so great as she sounded, why was she locked inside the temple?

"Senior, we've paid a heavy price to get here." Mei Ling spoke respectfully. "The danger from the Shadowless Region almost claimed our lives. Although seniors might think there is no hope for our world but we're Master Teachers—"

"You're what?!" The ancient woman interrupted in a loud voice and the temple trembled vehemently to its core.

Jun Wu and Mei Ling trembled, almost falling to the ground.

"Tell me quickly. Repeat what you just said?" She demanded in an urgent tone.

The two looked at each other and Jun Wu nodded.

"I said we paid a heavy price—"

"Stop! Not that nonsense." She snapped. "The last part."

"Senior, you mean Master Teachers."

She ignored her question and asked. "Are you both Master Teachers…"

"Yes," Mei Ling nodded. "Both of us are Master Teachers and there are more of us."

Hahahahaha!

Suddenly, the woman burst into heavy laughter that shook the temple.

Watching the ancient woman laughing like a crazy woman, Jun Wu and Mei Ling did not stop her. When she was done, she would speak to them.

Just as they guessed, ten minutes later, she stopped laughing and spoke.

"I never expected to see a Master Teacher in this life." Her voice was a bit soft and it felt closer.

"Children, you don't understand what you are…" Her voice trailed off, but this time she recovered.

"How I wish it was in our time…" She shook her head. "As Master Teachers, you have the right to know a bit of history."

"Who is the strongest in the world right now?"

"Grandmaster should be the strongest?" Jun Wu responded.

The ancestors of his clan should be in the grandmaster realm.

"What's that?" She asked, her voice filled with confusion.

Jun Wu and Mei Ling looked at each other in confusion.

Quickly, Mei Ling explained the current cultivation system to her.

"So it was even worse than I thought." She shook her head. "So, you're a martial artist?"

Her words were meant for Mei Ling.

She nodded, "Yes, Senior."

"What a waste of talent. Sighed." She shook her head for the umpteenth time. "In ancient times, there was nothing like a martial artist. That is just a realm to prepare the body for spiritual energy and that should be done before the age of ten."

Hisss!

Jun Wu and Mei Ling sucked in a cold breath.

Before the age of ten?

Their hearts raced, filled with disbelief.

"You don't need to be surprised." The ancient woman said. "During that time, there was enough spiritual energy with many heavenly resources to use compared to now."

"Let's not talk about that now. Let's talk about the danger you're about to face."
