I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 114: Little Demon Time to Choose Treasures (5k)_2

The little guy screamed in terror.

"Let me go, let me go."

"We've done our deal, I've finished what I was supposed to, what happens next has nothing to do with me. I have to go turn myself in now. Good luck."

Liu Qiying reacted quickly. She didn't know why they were discovered this time. None of the shielding here worked, but that didn't really matter anymore.

The reason she dared to do this in the first place was because, even if she got caught, it wouldn't be a big problem—after all, she was just here to ask some questions.

She waited by the door on her own. Soon enough, she saw Qin Kun appear first, followed by a fully armed squad of Scorching Sun Department field agents.

Liu Qiying raised her hands.

"It was me who summoned the devil—I was just asking him a few things."

Liu Qiying was totally cooperative. Watching the little demon being stuffed into a specially made box and taken away, she showed no reaction at all.

Anyway, when the Scorching Sun Department asked about what happened this time, whatever they asked, she'd just answer honestly.

Even Qin Kun was caught a little off guard by all this.

"We need you to come back to the department with us."

"Sure, no problem." Liu Qiying was super cooperative, following along without fuss.

On the other side, after stabilizing the situation there, the Eighth Uncle-Master Ancestor saw that everything had settled down. He let Qin Kun bring back his saber, then headed straight for the Scorching Sun Department.

"It's just a little demon; even if you butcher it, you won't get two catties of meat. Whatever, next time I get a chance, I'll chop a real demon for you to taste. I hear Nanwu County is pretty hot and humid—good remedy for that dampness."

Wen Yan smiled and agreed—no way was he dumb enough to say that, with the Scorching Sun inside him, he probably wasn't bothered by damp or cold.

Clearly, both the Seventh Great-Uncle Master and the Eighth Uncle-Master Ancestor were really enthusiastic about feeding the juniors.

Once Wen Yan got to the Scorching Sun Department, he settled the people from Fuyu Mountain and didn't linger there, nor did he go see Liu Qiying. He kept feeling that woman was a bit dangerous—if they met, he'd probably get targeted.

Since there was still time, he headed to the warehouse first, taking advantage of the lingering sensation from the Seventh Uncle Master's pat on his back earlier, hoping to try it out quickly.

He first gave Old Meng a call.

"Haven't found it out yet, don't rush! What are you so anxious for!"

"Ah, Old Meng, am I annoying you? Then I'll hang up."

"No, no, I'm working on your thing right now."

"Actually, I'm not calling you about that."

"Hey now, anytime you need me, I'm here for you—24/7! What do you need from me?" Old Meng's tone was tinged with irrepressible excitement.

"Well, I just made some contributions, so now I get to pick something out of the Scorching Sun Department's warehouse. I'm young, not that experienced, as you know, so I wanted to ask your advice—what's the best way to choose?"

On the edge of a desert, Old Meng, resting against a camel, immediately sat up straight, his eyes lighting up like a jackal at night.

"Wow, you're really asking the right person!"

"So—what's your price?"

"Price? Come on, I'm not some money-grubber who charges for every little thing. Talking cash over something this small? Kinda hurts the friendship."

The camel beside him gave Old Meng a sideways glance and, unable to help it, spat disdainfully.

Old Meng straightened up, eyes gleaming, and after a flash of quick thinking, started lecturing with a hint of devious mentorship.

"I've heard that, back in the day, the Nanwu County Scorching Sun Department killed a giant beast at the river mouth, and that beast's..."

As Wen Yan listened to Old Meng ramble, his mind immediately popped up a notification.

"Wandering Merchant.

Beware of shifty traders! Beware of shifty traders! Beware of shifty traders!

Temporary Ability: Precision Appraisal."

He grinned, laughing silently—Old Meng never let him down.

At just the slightest mention, Old Meng the hustler went into full business mode—you could practically sense the warning through the phone.

After Old Meng blathered on for ages, Wen Yan finally asked,

"Uh huh, got it, I'm taking notes. Besides the specific stuff, are there any other ways to judge things?"

"Other ways? That's easy. Whether something is powerful or rare doesn't matter half as much as whether it's a match for you." Old Meng, sly as he was, actually gave some useful advice.

After chatting for over ten minutes, Wen Yan hung up, satisfied, and pocketed his phone.

He followed Director Chen from Logistics, swiping his card for the elevator, riding down countless floors underground, then passed palm scans, voiceprints, iris scans, ID, card swipes, passwords, plus some unknown authentication in a rune-covered room.

After all that hassle, it was another ten minutes before they finally reached the last stretch.

He entered an underground warehouse.

You couldn't see the far end—there were shelves everywhere, jammed with boxes, each one labeled.

"You can pick any three items. You have three hours. If you don't get your three by then, one will be given at random. I'm not allowed in. Go in on your own. Keep an eye on the time."

"Alright, thank you."

Wen Yan walked in, checking out the nearest shelf—it was stacked with wooden boxes, all with labels.

"No. 3982, Mrs. Lin, immortal cancer cells, survives without nutrients."

Testing Precision Appraisal—three Big Yellow Fish.

Next up was a glass jar with a human head floating inside.

"No. 8345, Prophet's Head, not recommended for use; guaranteed a bad ending."

Precision Appraisal—six Big Yellow Fish.

The head seemed to sense someone approaching; suddenly, its eyes snapped open.

"Take me out and I'll give you one prophecy with guaranteed good results."

Wen Yan ignored the head.

Looking at all this, he thought—even seeing one by one, he'd never finish by next year. Just a name and a single line? Info's probably nowhere near enough. God knows what traps are hidden here.
