The King of Urban Mercenaries

Chapter 1092: The War of Ten Thousand (Part 1)

Boom... Boom... Boom!

The lights streaked across the sky and fell to the ground, a series of explosive sounds ringing out, shaking the entire battlefield!

Lin Fei stood on the vehicle, watching the recent wave of rocket attacks, clearly targeting the camps where they had initially stationed themselves, as the cannon fire was obviously meant to wipe them out!

In response, Lin Fei felt fortunate and ordered the troops to increase their speed. If the enemy found out their troops had already evacuated, they would likely spread out completely to find their location. This would be disadvantageous, as the numerical gap is not easily remedied.

Three thousand men surged like roaring waves, racing across the battlefield. The dust clouds caused by vehicles and footsteps enveloped a radius of ten miles into endless sand and dust.

At the moment.

Within the Iron Country army, Commander Hakens was standing on a truck, listening to the soldiers' reports.

Hakens was a renowned commander of the Iron Country, also one of its three top commanders, with a record of annihilating enemies in skirmishes.

"Lord Hakens, we haven't spotted any traces of the enemy!" A soldier reported, relaying through the battle center, and found no sight of any enemy troops, indicating they had retreated first.

With the appearance of a middle-aged man, the hooked eagle nose reflected sharp, sunken eyes, shimmering coldly, he spoke, "It seems they've already retreated, but this region, we're taking over. Have Admiral Henriksen and Admiral Winfier come to me, and have Admiral Bean expand the battlefield upfront. Let Clarni know that if they don't surrender, their citizens will lose faith in their country!"

"Yes!" The soldier immediately went down to pass on the orders.

Admiral Bean, a square-faced Iron Country native, received Hakens' orders and immediately led three thousand soldiers toward the villages and residential areas at the original battlefield's edge, ready to shoot anyone not identified as Iron Country soldiers.

It was then Admiral Bean noticed a refugee camp in the distance. With a sneer, he ordered a mortar unit to begin firing towards those refugees, whose homes were ravaged by war.

The mortars hummed through the air, finally falling upon the refugee gathering spot, causing houses to collapse with many people being directly crushed. The cries of agony erupted as individuals hit by artillery or the projectiles from the explosion had bodies torn apart or limbs severed, while some with bodies pierced attempted to flee in terror, blood splattering on the ground before quickly collapsing, meeting their end.

Refugees were wailing and desperately fleeing, but Admiral Bean had already ordered the soldiers to surround the base completely. Any refugee who dashed out faced direct machine gun fire, with bodies riddled with bullets, finally collapsing to dye the ground red with their blood.

"Kill!" In the end, Bean directly ordered, leading the troops into the refugee's base, slaughtering the helpless victims completely. The women were dragged into hidden corners, soon followed by screams, and finally gunshots echoed, ending their lives once and for all.

At that moment, having shot an elderly man waving a hoe at him, Bean's face got splattered with blood. He licked the blood off his face with his tongue and ordered the troops to advance to the next village, the battlefield ever expanding.

At this time, in the center of Iron Country's army, stood two admirals in front of Hakens — one was the long-faced Admiral Henriksen, and the other a sizzling figure in exposed clothing but with a cold face, Admiral Winfier. The two admirals stood before Hakens, awaiting orders.

"Henriksen, now that the enemy has fled, what do you think we should do?"

Hakens liked to ask for soldiers' opinions before giving orders, so he could determine what kind of person the soldier was and what decisions they might make amidst chaos, since he wasn't familiar with most of the officers he cooperated with, but this method often proved effective.

Upon hearing Hakens' query, the long-faced Admiral Henriksen immediately responded, his voice resolute and strong, "Commander, I think we should now directly find and trace where the enemy left, then pursue them!"

"Winfier, what do you think?"

Wearing exposed attire but with a cold demeanor, Winfier looked at Commander Hakens, though she had heard of Hakens' prowess, she hadn't truly witnessed it firsthand.

However, Hakens being the commander held a title much higher than hers on the battlefield. Since he asked, she had to answer, "Commander, not long ago, we received accurate intelligence that the enemy's troops camped in this area, yet now vanished, clearly evacuating in a short time. I agree with Admiral Henriksen's proposal, to pursue them now."

Hakens showed a bit of interest, "Tell me why."

Winfier explained, "The enemy evacuated in an extremely short time, obviously not having ample preparation, while we, on the contrary, have long been prepared. If we continue pursuing, perhaps we can annihilate them."

"Good, since Admiral Henriksen, you've proposed this, then follow through with your idea and pursue the enemy. I'll give you five thousand troops. Can you take down the enemy?" Hakens asked.

Admiral Henriksen displayed a confident smile, "I assure you the task will be accomplished!"

"Go then," Hakens casually replied, "I hope you don't disappoint me; otherwise, be prepared to face my punishment!"

Henriksen snorted coldly, then turned and left, leading five thousand soldiers, chasing in the direction Lin Fei fled.

At that moment, Hakens spoke, "Winfier, you agree with Henriksen's idea? If so, pursue the enemy in another direction. I'll also give you five thousand troops, though the opposing forces won't exceed three thousand, you should be able to handle it?"

Winfier furrowed his brow, thinking Hakens was difficult to fathom. According to intelligence, the enemy forces should be between five thousand and six thousand, split in two groups. Each group certainly wouldn't exceed five thousand; that's a fact. But why did Hakris let them each lead five thousand soldiers to pursue the enemy?

"Could it be the supposedly strongest among the three commanders, Hakens, is merely at this level? So disappointing!" thought Winfier, leading a five thousand-strong army, leaving to pursue Little Tiger.
