The Last King Of Darkness

Chapter 599: Purging the Traitors Within

Rod glanced at him. Although his power was weak at that time, he still made a significant contribution. His journey officially began from that moment.

This sentence stirred up some unpleasant memories, and he immediately pushed them aside.

He focused his mind and quickly examined himself.

In terms of Spiritual Energy, aside from flying, there was hardly any consumption.

Inside the Obelisk, a total of approximately 20 billion souls were obtained, and the Book of Knowledge was skipping merrily atop the Sun Tower.

Additionally, during the cleansing process, Rod discovered the spirituality he had just infused into the Altar. Since not much time had passed, only a small portion was polluted, and he reclaimed most of it.

This trip could be described as a cost-free trade, a super harvest.

However, the humanity within the Obelisk plummeted significantly, from 16,120,000 to 9,070,000.

This round consumed about 7 million humanity.

Rod furrowed his brows; such an amount of humanity was not something he could easily afford to gain.

Yet, having acquired so many souls, plus the soon-to-be-acquired Star Marrow Altar, Rod relaxed his eyebrows.

"Sir 0, how do we get out now?" 19 asked, looking around.

Rod replied casually, "I found the center of this plane's fault during the cleanup. Follow me."

He turned and leaped off the rocks, with everyone following behind him, soon arriving at a desolate land.

Under a thick layer of dust, they saw a line of words written in the ancient divine language.

"We will eventually meet our demise."

A skull lay at the end of the line, acting as punctuation.

"He is the failed Adam Yareel."

19 asked, "How do you know?"

Rod flipped over the skull. "Look."

Another line of text appeared beneath the skull.

"I've found it!"

"I've finally found it!"

"Great Saint Reel above, this is a miracle creation, unbelievable. The Black Fog Wall will shield us from the monster's attack, and the ideal of the Eternal Sanctuary can be realized! Saint O'Sullivan, do you hear this?"

"I'm not a failure!"

"I am the Great Sage of Saint Reel, Adam Yareel!"

Liszt frowned and said, "What's the meaning of this? Isn't attempting the high-position Spirit's Curtain a dead end? How can the Black Fog Wall resist the monster's attack? How did he discover this?"

7 focused on those two terms.

"Saint Reel... Is it the Fire King City he belongs to? However, during the Fire Epoch, there seems to be no such name."

9 said, "Maybe we just don't know. Records about the last Epoch are scarce in the Great Book Library, only slightly better than the ancient Epoch of Gods."

"Lord O'Sullivan, is he their King? It's hard to imagine he would be called by name directly."

Rod said, "Maybe it's just different customs."

Liszt shook his head, "It's more than customs. A King, as the Guardian resonating with the Holy Fire, is an extremely special being. His name cannot be uttered lightly, or it would bring unpredictable and terrifying consequences. The Ash and Rose Schools recently proved this was why Troli's first mass extinction happened. People didn't know this back then."

Rod furrowed his brows, "Is there such a thing?"

Liszt seriously looked at him and said in a deep voice, "In the inheritance admonitions of Troli's successive Kings, this is the first one and the absolute command not to be violated. Anyone becoming King must abandon his name and his past identity. From the moment he completes the Fire Transmission Ritual, he is no longer himself but the King of Troli."

"Whether Qingyu, Jon, or Xingge becomes King, it will be the same. If you became King as an Incendiary, it would also be like this. Your full name can only appear once a year, and only in necessary occasions."

Rod scratched his head. No wonder the King is only addressed as King or Majesty, and only Horus once called the name in rage, but that probably wasn't the full name either.

He turned his gaze to the words "Black Fog Wall."

Undoubtedly, it refers to the Black Fog Wall formed by the Spirit's Curtain.

But what does it have to do with resisting monsters and building the Eternal Sanctuary?

Rod temporarily buried the question in his heart, planning to resolve it using the Divine Sense later.

The immediate priority now is to get out.

Adam Yareel mentioned a possible way to control the Spirit Core at the end of the stone brick, which is to clear its energy source and then re-inject it with Spiritual Energy containing one's mental will.

This way, the only certified master would be oneself.

However, even he wasn't certain whether this method would work.

The lingering spirituality in this space isn't necessarily its entire Spiritual Energy source.

Yet, somehow, an attempt must be made.

Rod placed his hand on the ground, infusing Spiritual Energy, attempting to connect with the Spirit Core.

However, something unexpected occurred. Almost immediately, his soul received a response.

A cold voice appeared in his mind.

"Welcome back, Master."

"Please issue a command."

Rod was stunned. What is going on?

Is this another pit set up by the Ancient God of Destiny for me?

He immediately recalled the residual spirit of the Ancient God of Flesh Rebirth, who once addressed him as Master.

Could it be that the predecessor of the Dream Realm is the leader of the Ancient Gods?

He immediately inquired to the Book of Knowledge.

The Book of Knowledge appeared somewhat perplexed, "I'm not very sure. Most memories about the former Master of Dreams have already been deleted. Those names are dangerous and shouldn't be mentioned lightly, or they might bring great disaster."

The puppet said, "In my memory, there are shadows fighting alongside the Ancient Gods. Maybe it's true."

Rod exhaled deeply, thinking if he knew this from the beginning, he could have saved a lot of effort.

But having gained so much is not entirely in vain.

Rod made up his mind and issued the first command to the cold core.

"Let us out."

In the next second, everything went dark, and the world flipped.

They found themselves back on the Altar once again.

The disc in front of them had returned to its original state, while the Destiny Divine Sword remained in the socket, gently glowing, seemingly integrated with the Altar.

Liszt was overjoyed, "We finally came out! It seems it's because of the Destiny Divine Sword! Maybe the Altar was just to send us in to clear out the filth!"

Rod smiled without explaining.

The feedback from the Spirit Core told him that the Destiny Divine Sword itself was a part of the Altar, and one of its energy supplies.

19 said, "Impossible, such an important Divine Artifact can't be lost. Let's quickly pull it out."

Liszt frowned, "Isn't it in a stable state now? How can we actively disrupt the stable state in uncertain circumstances?"

Rod laughed, "Let's not discuss that now, this Altar is ours. I want to move it back to the Royal City."

"Sir 0."

19 added, "I think it's best not to do that. This Altar is an unknown entity, and perhaps the reason for the Divine City's destruction."

This statement aroused concern from 7 and 9, but they didn't express clear opposition. The allure of the Star Marrow was too immense.

Rod made up his mind and issued the second command in his heart.

"Spirit Core, shut down."

The Altar's light immediately dimmed.

19 was quick to say, "The state has changed, there's definitely a problem. Quickly pull out the Divine Sword."

There was a moment's hesitation in Liszt, uncertain whether to remove it or not.

However, 19 had already moved towards the Divine Sword, urgently saying, "Hesitation is the beginning of disaster, we mustn't face changes at this moment..."

Bam!

Rod swiftly extended his right hand, grabbed his withered head lightning-fast.

A gray-black shadow darted from his arm like a snake and bit into 19.

"Ahhhh!"

19 let out a chilling scream.

"What are you doing? You are not Sir 0, he is an Ancient Evil Thought, kill him quickly!"

Rod wore a rare ferocious smile, "Idiot, stop struggling, do you think I wouldn't know you're an Ancient Evil Thought?"

"Asa, devour it for me!"

In his consciousness, Asa replied excitedly, "As you command, my master."
