It liked this fight.
So did Xavier.
The wolf lowered, muscles coiling. Xavier mirrored him. Two killers. No wasted words.
The air shook from the pressure of what was about to happen.
Then—
They charged.
Wolf King from the right—Xavier from the left.
Killing intent collided.
Their clash unleashed a sonic boom.
The first exchange was too fast to follow—dagger glints and claw arcs tearing streaks through the air. Poison blasts erupted. Moonlight curved into lethal crescents.
Claw met dagger—fang met flesh—shield shattered—ground cracked—
This was no longer a fight.
This was war between two apex predators.
The Wolf King snapped its head forward, unleashing a barrage of venom needles from its maw—Xavier swirled Moonshield into a rotating barrier, deflecting them—but two broke through, grazing his arm—burning instantly into his skin.
He ignored the pain.
He slashed its chest—barely leaving a wound.
It hammered him with an earth-shaking tackle—he raised a shield—too slow—he was sent flying mid-air—
It vanished. Reappeared above him.
> "Tch—"
WHAAAAMM!!!
The beast axe-kicked him straight into the ground.
A crater swallowed him.
The Wolf King landed on the edge of the crater—growling low—poison dripping from its fangs like molten acid.
Smoke rose.
Silence.
Then—moonlight flared from the crater.
Silver energy spiraled upward like a storm.
Xavier rose—eyes blazing—not wounded. Enraged.
> "Alright then…"
He raised his hand.
Moon energy gathered, twisting violently.
The sky darkened.
> "I'll stop playing with you—"
The Wolf King crouched low, teeth bared—sensing death.
—
BOOOOOOOMMMM!
A pillar of power exploded into the battlefield, blowing wolves and corpses aside.
The Wolf King lunged to interrupt—
—but froze mid-charge.
Behind Xavier—another presence had appeared.
Something ancient.
Something far worse.
Xavier didn't turn—but his eyes narrowed.
…What the hell is that?
The Wolf King lowered, growling—not at Xavier now—but behind him.
The real threat had finally arrived.
The air turned heavy—so heavy it felt like the dungeon itself had awakened.
Xavier didn't move at first. He could feel it—an ancient presence, looming behind him like a mountain that had grown teeth. Even without turning, he knew: this was no ordinary beast. This was something born from the dungeon's core. A creature that commanded fear—not by bloodlust—but by right.
The Poison Fang Wolf King felt it too.
The massive wolf, moments ago a raging calamity, now lowered its body instinctively, growling—not out of anger, but submission. Its ears flattened, tail rigid, poison aura fluctuating from agitation.
That reaction alone told Xavier everything.
This thing… outranked even the Wolf King. A higher apex.
He slowly turned his head.
The battlefield shook.
The ground in the distance cracked—then split apart entirely, as something colossal forced its way out of the earth. Stone, dust, shattered terrain—everything exploded outward.
Then it rose.
Wolf Sentinel Behemoth – Dungeon Guardian of the outer expanse of the Silver Spire
A-Rank Apex Variant | Earth–Poison Hybrid
A monster as tall as a fortress—its frame built of obsidian stone and corrupted earth flesh, fused into something unnatural. Its back was jagged like a mountain ridge, spikes jutting out like hardened towers. Its four legs were tree-trunk thick, every movement sending tremors through the land. A dark stone crown protruded like horns across its head, and within its skull burned two massive green eyes—cold, ancient, unblinking.
Thick streams of venom seeped from cracks in its stone skin, hissing as they burned the ground. An aura of raw gravity warped the air around it, crushing, suffocating—like standing before a living mountain of death.
Xavier's jaw tightened slightly.
This was no mid-boss. This was the law of the dungeon made flesh.
The Behemoth's gigantic head shifted… and its eyes locked onto Xavier.
RUMMMMMMBLLLEEEEEEE
Its bellow shook the entire world.
A dungeon roar—not a threat, but a warning. Leave. Or be erased.
Xavier stared back… and did not move.
The Behemoth took one step forward, and the land quaked beneath it. Another step—rocks lifted from the ground as gravity trembled. A third—its pressure alone crushed buffalo corpses into pulp.
The Wolf King snarled beside Xavier as if preparing to attack—but Xavier noticed something strange.
"It won't attack it," he muttered. "It's afraid… No, it obeys it."
His lips curled slightly. Interesting.
He raised his daggers and sank low into stance.
"So I'm fighting both of you after all."
The Wolf King's head snapped toward him—offended. Enraged that Xavier still challenged it while this giant stood behind him.
It lunged without hesitation.
Xavier grimaced, stepping aside just as the Wolf King's poisoned fangs slashed past his throat—one millimeter from tearing his jugular.
He dropped low, slid across the ground, and sprang to his feet again. The Behemoth hadn't even begun moving yet—and already he was back in the middle of two apex threats.
A bead of sweat trickled down his temple—not from fear, but calculating intensity.
"Tch. That was close."
He flexed his fingers, feeling the faint burn of poison where the Wolf King's aura had grazed his skin. Even proximity to its fangs inflicted venom.
The Wolf King snarled and lunged again—faster this time. Too fast for its enormous size.
Xavier parried—steel clashed against mutated bone. He saw the tail coming, ducked under it—and punched forward with a brutal Moon Strike that blasted a crater into the wolf's ribs, sending it skidding back.
Then the world darkened.
Not from magic.
From a shadow.
He looked up just in time.
The Behemoth was above him.
It had jumped.
Impossible, Xavier thought—but there was no time.
He moved—blurred—vanished just as a mountain came crashing down.
KAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOMM!!!
The Behemoth slammed into the earth like a meteor. The ground exploded. Shockwaves tore open the field in jagged lines. Poison geysers erupted from cracks left in the ground as dungeon mana overflowed.
Xavier reappeared a hundred meters away, body leaning forward in a skidding stance.
Then he moved again instantly—just as a streak of black blurred into his previous location, ripping it apart.
The Wolf King—relentless—had hunted him mid-escape.
> "Two-on-one, huh?" Xavier breathed, daggers shimmering with moonlight. "That's fine."
He dashed back into the chaos.
---
THE TRIPLE CLASH BEGINS
Speed vs. Brutality. Technique vs. Instinct. Apex vs. Apex.
Xavier sprinted forward—daggers slashing, feet shifting with unbroken flow. He dodged a swipe from the Wolf King—parried a venom blast—then vaulted onto a crumbling boulder.
The Behemoth roared and released Earthbreaker Pulse—a tidal wave of stone spikes erupted from the ground, ripping toward Xavier like rising fangs.
He leapt—midair—twisting.
Wolf King struck from above—he blocked with crossed daggers—the force rattled his bones—
He flipped backward, driving a boot into the wolf's jaw, sending it rolling. Landed—and the ground beneath him cracked as the Behemoth's tail swung like a giant hammer.
He vanished again—moonlight flash movement.
Reappeared behind the Behemoth—daggers stabbed forward—
CLANG!!!!!!!!!!!!
His blades barely dug an inch before rebounding.
"Tch. That hide…"
He didn't finish.
He moved.
A poison claw strike missed his heart by inches. The Wolf King didn't let him think—didn't let him breathe. It hunted beside the Behemoth now—using the titan as cover.
They weren't allies—but they had a common enemy.
Him.
The battlefield became a killing field. A blur of toxic beams, earth destruction, and moonlight counters.
Xavier flowed, adapting, adjusting. Sweat beaded down his neck. His breathing grew heavier—not weak, but excited.
"This dungeon—I like it."
He ducked another earth spike. The Wolf King lunged again—this time silently—it had adapted to his timing. A claw came straight for his throat—
He caught it—with his bare hand—moon aura flaring violently.
"Not good enough."
He crushed its paw with a pulse of lunar energy—wolf blood sprayed across the field.
The Wolf King howled—
But before Xavier could finish it—
A shadow fell over him.
The Behemoth's massive stone jaw crashed down.
He barely raised a moon barrier in time—
BRAAAAAKSHHHH!!!
The impact shattered it instantly—he skidded back—nearly losing grip on his dagger.
He straightened slowly, aura crackling around him like wildfire.
He licked a cut at his lip.
"Fine. I'll stop holding back."
The moonlight around Xavier thickened—no longer a calm glow, but violent, seething power. It crackled along his body like silver lightning, warping the air around him. His expression shifted—no longer amused, no longer merely entertained.
Now—he was done playing.
His eyes locked onto the berserk Poison Fang Wolf King, the mutated beast still snarling through its shattered paw. Venom dripped from its maw, burning craters into the ground. It lunged again with insane ferocity—its massive jaws wide enough to tear through steel.
Xavier didn't move.
He didn't raise a blade.
He didn't dodge.
Instead, he stepped into the attack.
The Wolf King's fangs closed around him—
And shattered.
BOOOOOOOMMM!!!
Silver energy detonated from Xavier's body, a burst of lunar force so dense that it ripped the wolf's jaw apart on impact. Fragments of bone and burning poison splashed outward in a violent spiral.
The Wolf King stumbled, stunned—its regeneration already knitting its maw back together—but Xavier didn't give it the chance.
He moved. Fast.
Faster than before—faster than sight.
One heartbeat—distance closed. Second heartbeat—dagger raised. Third heartbeat—kill.
"Moon Execution."
A streak of moonlight cut through the battlefield—clean, absolute. Xavier appeared behind the Wolf King, blades dripping with silver light.
