The Ultimate Versatile Soldier King

Chapter 585: I Only Care About My Daughter's Safety

In the room, only Luo Chao and Su Jinyu remained. Su Jinyu looked at Luo Chao warily and asked, "What do you want to do?"

"I don't want to do anything, Officer Su, no need to be afraid. I just have something to say to Officer Su." Luo Chao leaned back, looking at Su Jinyu casually.

Su Jinyu was indeed a beauty, and a mature one at that. It's just her stubborn character that wasn't very likable. He had been observing Su Jinyu; she seemed to like Ouyang Zhenhua, but it wasn't successful because Ouyang Zhenhua didn't like her, which always made her annoyed and furious. A woman like a firecracker; even if given to himself, he wouldn't like her. But her straightforwardness made people feel a bit regretful.

"What?" Su Jinyu frowned and looked at Luo Chao, whose aura was clearly different. She knew that Luo Chao must have some connection with Ouyang Zhenhua. The two always acted mysteriously, and now the truth was about to be revealed?

Luo Chao chuckled, sat up straight, and said, "Honestly, I'm really innocent. If you still doubt my character, you can call a superior of your superior and just ask, hmm, is Luo Chao reliable?"

"He will definitely give you an answer. I have other things to handle now, so I won't stay here long. In fact, I'm really a victim. If your superior finds out that you are partial, Officer Su, you won't have a good time either, right?"

Su Jinyu wasn't a woman who relied on family power; he could see that. But she wanted to advance on her own merits, so she couldn't afford any mistakes now.

Su Jinyu took a deep breath, realizing that even such things were known to Luo Chao by Ouyang Zhenhua, which made her even angrier. But what did Luo Chao mean by mentioning that person?

Before Su Jinyu could think of what to say next, Luo Chao had already stood up from his seat and started walking out the door.

Ouyang Zhenhua was busy teaching the young officers how to handle an angry Su Jinyu. Seeing Luo Chao come out, he smiled and said, "Finished?"

Luo Chao nodded and said, "I've said everything that should be said, all that can be said. Anyway, not going to bother her, let's go."

Ouyang Zhenhua drove Luo Chao back to school. On the way, Luo Chao looked outside the window for a while, and then he asked, "Does Su Jinyu like you?"

Ouyang Zhenhua stiffened, teasingly said, "When did you become so gossipy?"

"It's not me being gossip. I always felt she vented the anger she had against you on me. Isn't this unfair to me?" Luo Chao said with a bit of schadenfreude.

"Well..." Ouyang Zhenhua tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, saying, "It's a long story. She probably doesn't like me, but because she can't compare with me, an obsession formed."

Luo Chao laughed out loud upon hearing the profound words from Ouyang Zhenhua, "Wow, have you seen through the world or something? Obsession! Obsession, my ass! Liking is liking, aren't there different categories?"

Ouyang Zhenhua's lips moved but he said nothing more. Luo Chao got out of the car at the school entrance, noticing Uncle Yuan's car. Naturally, A Yuan also saw Ouyang Zhenhua, hesitated slightly, and then asked, "Where did you go?"

Luo Chao fastened his seat belt and said, "Went to the police station to give a statement; it's about that last incident with Black Dragon holding a gun."

A Yuan nodded upon hearing Luo Chao's clear explanation and said, "The master is very angry this time."

Luo Chao raised an eyebrow—was it because of his incident with Li Haili? Was A Yuan reminding him?

"Is it because of me?" Luo Chao asked.

A Yuan shook his head and said, "That's not the point. The point is, the master is angry."

What do you mean? Isn't it still because of me? Luo Chao's face darkened; this was different from what had been discussed, which was that anything could happen as long as there were no fatalities, right?

A Yuan understood Luo Chao's misunderstanding and continued to explain, "You don't need to worry. What I meant by the master being angry is not because of you, but because of the matter with the young lady last time."

Luo Chao nodded, relieved. If this was reported upward, his credibility would be damaged, and how could he take on tasks in the future?

Luo Chao pondered for a moment and asked, "Has it been found out who did it?"

A Yuan shook his head and said, "I don't know, the master hasn't said."

Speaking as they arrived at the entrance to Jiang Weidong's company, A Yuan and Luo Chao got out of the car as someone came to park it.

A Yuan took Luo Chao up to the top floor using Jiang Weidong's private elevator.

Jiang Weidong was waiting in the office. Seeing Luo Chao arrive, his expression eased a bit, and he said, "Luo Chao, you're here."

Luo Chao nodded and said, "Uncle Yuan said you're looking for me, is there something important, Uncle Jiang?"

Jiang Weidong took a deep breath and then said, "I've investigated the origins of the kidnappers but haven't found the person behind it."

Is it because of this that he was angry? Luo Chao glanced at A Yuan standing behind Jiang Weidong, and A Yuan had been in a meditative state without moving since entering the room.

"Then Uncle Jiang means..." Luo Chao picked up the thread of conversation and asked.

Jiang Weidong lit a cigarette, took a puff, and said, "I suspect it's done by a business rival, but there's no evidence whatsoever."

"So you mean you want me to find the evidence?" Luo Chao asked, wondering if Jiang Weidong could stop making him guess.

"The key is, I don't want Yuanyuan to be hurt. I have only one daughter, and all my wealth is hers, you understand?" Jiang Weidong cast his gaze at Luo Chao, his eyes flickering.

Luo Chao was taken aback; what did this earnest look mean? He was not interested in Jiang Yuanyuan's assets at all.

"Ah, I understand, Uncle Jiang. I will do my best to protect Yuanyuan." Luo Chao replied faintly, his face turning a bit more serious.

Jiang Weidong was stunned. This kid, is he really uninterested in Jiang Yuanyuan, or is he uninterested in my vast empire? What is the old man's thinking...

"We've all seen your ability. I'm going on a business trip soon, but I want to assign you a task." Jiang Weidong finally got to the point after going around in circles, and Luo Chao exhaled.

"What task do you have for me, Uncle Jiang?"

"It's like this; I have a nephew who is currently helping me with affairs in Haiyang City, but seems to be constantly threatened by someone strong. I want you to go over and handle it. What do you think?"

As soon as Jiang Weidong finished speaking, Luo Chao nodded without hesitation and said, "I'll try my best."

Jiang Weidong did not expect Luo Chao to agree so readily, hesitated for a moment, and nodded to let Luo Chao go back.

"By the way, Uncle Jiang, I've caused some trouble at school lately. Please bear with me." Luo Chao thought of the recent troubles he had gotten into and said to Jiang Weidong.

Jiang Weidong smiled and said, "I only care about my daughter's safety. Everything else, as long as no one dyin', is manageable."
