The Ultimate Versatile Soldier King

Chapter 488: The Eagle

The fat guy nodded, looking completely scared stiff. He walked towards the door dazed, but just as he was about to step out, he suddenly turned around and pulled the trigger.

However, unexpectedly, there was no gunshot.

A man built like a tower appeared in front of him in an instant, his speed entirely disproportionate to his size. He counter-gripped his wrist, aiming the gun at the fat guy himself.

The brawny man laughed, the long horizontal scar on his forehead stretching with his facial expressions, like two gaping mouths on a person's face, incredibly sinister and terrifying.

"I knew you, damn fatso, couldn't be trusted. Go ahead, shoot! Let's see if you've got the guts," the tower-like man sneered.

The fat guy broke out in large beads of sweat instantly; having a gun pointed at you isn't a pleasant experience. He tried hard to pull his hand back but found it impossible; this man's hand was like a machine, unbelievably strong. Trembling, he tried to move his finger off the trigger to avoid accidentally firing.

Still unable to do so, the muscular guy held his finger in place, aiming the gun right at the fat guy's forehead.

After a few minutes of this standoff, the fat guy's muscles began to shake uncontrollably; his finger trembled, and no one could say when a spasm might cause him to shoot himself.

Snot and tears burst forth, and finally unable to endure the situation, he broke down. Mucus and tears mixed with sweat, spreading across his face, utterly disgusting.

"Big brother, big brother, please spare me! I'll give you all the money; I beg you to let me go." His legs buckled as he was about to kneel and plead.

The muscular guy looked at him with disdain, loosened his grip, and snatched the gun away. "Useless trash, with such skill, what's the point of bluffing? Playing with guns in front of me? I've taken down planes with tanks before."

The small handgun in his hands seemed like a toy; his thick fingers moved deftly, and within seconds, the loaded gun was disassembled into parts with one hand.

This is not a feat anyone can easily achieve; few in the world can do it to this extent.

The fat guy lay on the ground, dumbfounded. He finally realized he had encountered a master this time and didn't dare say another word, scrambling away, leaving his subordinates behind.

His bodyguards, seeing their boss flee, naturally didn't dare linger and scrambled up, rushing out in a swarm.

Got to hurry to the hospital; if the wound gets infected, it's no joke.

"Shanpao, look at how scared you made the fat guy, almost shitting himself," the seasoned young man said with a laugh, extinguishing his cigarette.

"Oh, come on! I was just scaring him a bit; Vice Captain, you hit harder than me," Shanpao spent a few seconds recomposing the gun and put it in his pocket.

"Alright, let's pack up the money on the table and leave. Such a big sum can support many kids and build many schools. Sigh, both of us came from the mountains; now we've got some skills, we should do some good deeds," the seasoned young man said with a bit of melancholy.

Shanpao nodded in agreement, "We call this taking from the rich to give to the poor. By the way, I say Vice Captain, next time you cheat, could you make it less obvious? You got caught again; who will dare gamble with us at this rate..."

"What can I do? The damn fat guy had such dumb luck, got such big numbers, I couldn't even swap smaller cards!"

"..."

Turns out the fat guy wasn't wrong to accuse them; they were indeed cheats.

Spattering footsteps approached, "I couldn't have imagined! Two killing-machine tough guys becoming philanthropists, trying to earn some karma!"

Shanpao and the eagle heard this voice and laughed, with eagle laughingly cursing, "Cobra, you always got that sharp tongue. What brings you here? Did your dad have a younger son, so you can't inherit the family business?"

Seeing the four people entering the room, eagle was stunned, and Shanpao strode forward and embraced Luo Chao: "Captain, I missed you."

Luo Chao was almost suffocated by his massive body and pushed him away. "Get off, what are two big guys hugging for?" He said with a face full of dark lines.

Luo Chao couldn't stand this guy's hugs the most; every time it was a habit to put people's heads under the armpit for a headlock, it was a reflex. The key was, Shanpao was a big dummy with severe body odor; the smell was like wearing smelly socks for three months straight.

After taking several deep breaths of fresh air, Luo Chao finally said: "Hurry, we still need to get to Yanjing." Going straight to the point.

Without a word, Shanpao didn't ask the reason, picked up the suitcase on the table, and left. He was not only a gun expert but also a money-grubber. Of course, most of the money he got was donated.

Greedy but not loving money.

However, after walking a few steps, everyone realized something was off, looking back to see the eagle hadn't followed, sitting there with a face of hesitation.

"What's up?" Luo Chao asked confused, not knowing what he was hesitating about.

The others also looked at him, puzzled about what the Vice Captain was planning.

In eagle's heart, after a fierce struggle, he seemed to let out a sigh of relief, smiled and said: "I want to quit Dark Stab, it's already disbanded anyway." He didn't ask Luo Chao why to regroup, only calmly stated his decision.

"Vice Captain, are you outta your mind?" The others instantly displeased, with the hot-headed Shanpao directly saying, "Get over here, I'm bored to death this past month."

Luo Chao didn't impulsively question, feeling somewhat agitated; when reuniting Dark Stab, he had anticipated this kind of situation, simply couldn't have guessed eagle would decide to leave.

Actually, eagle was the true old-timer in Dark Stab; when Luo Chao joined, eagle was already the Vice Captain. Later, for various reasons, Luo Chao took over as captain and eagle remained his lieutenant. With many old members having died, most others joined later on.

Luo Chao and eagle were the longest working old brothers, with the deepest bond.

Eagle's sudden exit left him feeling somewhat unacceptable. Taking a deep breath, he gently asked: "Why, brothers sticking together is good, isn't it?"

Eagle stood up, took out his box of cheap five-yuan White Sands cigarettes, and handed them out one by one to the brothers.

"I'm different from you all. I'm already almost thirty; the oldest among you is only twenty-four or twenty-five. By rights, I should've retired already. But I've been unable to let go for a while. Since it's come to this, I've accepted it, haha..."

He chuckled as he continued: "Whatever you want to do, go ahead and do it; anyway, you're the captain. I'll silently support you from behind."
