The Ultimate Versatile Soldier King

Chapter 320: Celestial Dragon Race

"Alright, go back to sleep, it's nothing, just a dream. Once you fall asleep, it'll be all right," Luo Chao comforted Yan Ruyu, urging her to lie down.

"Luo Chao, don't go!" Yan Ruyu suddenly grabbed Luo Chao's hand as he was about to leave.

"What's wrong?" Luo Chao turned back and asked.

"I'm scared. I want you to sleep with me," Yan Ruyu hesitated for a moment and said softly.

The night sky without a moon seemed a bit profound. Even the flickering neon lights couldn't compensate for the beauty of moonlight.

In the air, a thousand meters above Ruili City, two silhouettes hovered as if standing on solid ground.

These two figures appeared to be around thirty-four or thirty-five years old, both dressed in black-silk suits with short hair, looking much like modern urban professionals, giving off a sense of stability. However, they just quietly hovered high in the sky, as if standing on flat ground, which was quite eerie.

Was this a movie shoot? But apparently not, as there were only these two people in the sky, with nothing else around. At this moment, both of them were looking down, scanning Ruili City.

"Long Quan, it seems nothing will happen tonight. Let's go!" After watching for a while, one man said to the other.

"Long Lie, you are always so impatient. Last time, due to your negligence, that guy cultivating Ghost Dao slaughtered eleven innocent ordinary people," the man called Long Quan continued to scan the city below, speaking with dissatisfaction.

"Long Quan, you're so tedious. Is exposing others' faults really that amusing? Besides, wasn't last time just an accident? I didn't want such a thing to happen either. Do you have to hold such a grudge?" Upon hearing Long Quan's blame, Long Lie immediately objected.

"Eh, something's happening! Down there!" Suddenly, Long Quan's gaze fixed on a spot, eyebrows furrowing, and then his entire body shot downward at high speed.

"Wait for me!" Long Lie shouted and also swiftly darted downward.

An eerie mansion exuded a chilling, bone-chilling aura, with a large hole broken in the ancient, wide door. Outside, in the alley, a somewhat pudgy figure disappeared at the alley's end.

Inside the gates, the courtyard was overgrown with weeds. Trees over a person's height looked chaotic yet orderly in a way. At the moment, a mass of black gas was transforming into wisps of black vapor, melting into the weeds in the yard.

From high above, two silhouettes rapidly descended, appearing instantly above the eerie mansion, about ten meters above it. Wearing black suits and with short hair, they were none other than Long Quan and Long Lie.

"The Twelve Celestial Gods and Demons Array, looks like we caught a big fish tonight!" Stabilizing himself, Long Lie glanced at the courtyard below, his lips curling slightly with excitement.

"A big fish? Long Lie, do you have no conscience? You know how cruel this Twelve Celestial Gods and Demons Array is, and the person deploying such a vicious array here has obvious malicious intent—they should be executed!" Long Quan frowned upon hearing Long Lie's words, clearly displeased.

"Executed? Not knowing death from life!" As Long Quan's voice fell, a muffled voice emerged from beneath the courtyard. The voice was hoarse, filled with intense anger.

"Sss—" The moment the voice ceased, the trees over a meter high in the courtyard began moving without wind, violently trembling. As this scene unfolded, the previously overgrown, tree-filled courtyard vanished, replaced by twelve upright black banners. Each banner bore a monstrous head with a grimacing face and razor-sharp fangs, inducing fear at a mere glance. In the courtyard's center, it had turned black, devoid of weeds or soil, replaced by swirling black fog.

"Demonic Qi seeping out, seems you've killed quite a few people? You will not escape today!" Upon seeing the black Qi surging on the ground, Long Quan's eyes flashed with coldness, speaking icily.

"Still not sure who will spare whom! I, having cultivated for decades, have never been disrespected by anyone. Boy, you're too arrogant, but the arrogant often die young!" A gloomy voice echoed from the swirling black fog below.

"No need for nonsense, reveal yourself!" Apparently lacking Long Quan's patience, Long Lie flashed downward by two meters, then punched forward, a gigantic fist shooting towards the black fog.

"Long Lie—" Long Quan attempted to stop him, but it was too late. He reached into his bosom, grabbing twenty-four small yellow flags. With a fling, the twenty-four yellow flags dispersed and vanished at various corners outside the courtyard.

"Courting death!" From within the black fog came an angry roar, and then a black mist as thick as an arm suddenly surged upwards, crashing into Long Lie's fist.

"Boom!" When the black mist collided with the fist, a ripple spread out. The surrounding corridors dissolved into powder upon contact with the ripple, but when it reached the courtyard's outer walls and main gate, it disappeared as if absorbed into nothingness.

"Ha!" Long Lie's body flipped up, then performed a 360-degree backflip in mid-air, halting at the same height as Long Quan, taking two deep breaths to suppress the churning energy in his chest.

"Look at you, always so reckless. If I hadn't reacted quickly to isolate this place's aura, we would've alerted the nearby residents!" Long Quan reprimanded as Long Lie flipped back up.

"Be careful, this guy is strong!" Ignoring Long Quan's words, Long Lie watched vigilantly at the black fog below.

"You're such a show-off, this is just someone at Grandmaster Level, you really need to be this cautious? And you think it takes that much effort to kill him?" Long Quan glanced disdainfully at Long Lie, speaking casually. While talking, he pulled something akin to a sword hilt from his waist, and somehow, with a quick motion, extended it to a meter long. By then, it was clear that it was indeed a sword, a golden sword.

"Go!" Without hesitation, Long Quan tossed the sword, sending it shooting rapidly towards the black fog below.

"Ah!" As the golden sword pierced directly into the black fog, a miserable scream erupted. The black fog dissipated, revealing a black pit filled with piled bones, about twenty in all. Among these bones sat an elderly figure, hair over shoulders, sallow body, sitting cross-legged. His right hand was raised high, clutching the golden sword's blade tightly, his face shifting between black and white.

If Luo Chao were still there, he would surely recognize this old man as the one he had split in two, turning into black mist.

The old man, head slowly lifting, glanced at the golden sword, then shifted his gaze upward to the hovering Long Quan and Long Lie, finally uttering four words, "Celestial Dragon Race?"
