Slaying Demons: Starting with Upgrading my Calligraphy

Chapter 303: Meng Po Soup! _2

BOOM!

The sky-obscuring lightning struck directly at the dark clouds pouring down a torrential rain.

A deafening roar shook the air.

The dark clouds were instantly shattered by the lightning. A muffled groan echoed in the void, and then the rain clouds that had been closely following Qi Xiu and the others suddenly sped away, disappearing without a trace within a few breaths.

"It's over," Qi Xiu stated, peacefully watching Meng Po being driven away by the Thunder Magic. He and Tuo Zhou halted their flight.

"You can deploy such a grand Dharma Gate even in the Yellow Springs? How did you do it?" Tuo Zhou asked, his eyes wide with astonishment as he looked up at the Thunder Pupil in the Sky Dome, which was slowly closing and dissipating.

Although he was an anomaly of the Yellow Springs, he had resided there for many years and was thus very familiar with the Dharma Gates of cultivators from the mortal realm. When cultivators from the mortal realm deployed their Dharma Gates, they used their True Gang True Origin as a catalyst. This, in turn, resonated with the great Dao of heaven and earth, tapping into nature's spiritual energy to exert their Divine Marvel powers. However, the Yellow Springs was not the mortal realm; there was no nature's spiritual energy here. Cultivators who wanted to use their Dharma Gates could only rely on the Gang Qi True Origin within their own bodies. Without the enhancement of nature's spiritual energy, the power of their Dharma Gates naturally diminished greatly. Yet, the Thunder Magic Qi Xiu had just displayed was earth-shattering and terrifying in its magnitude, completely defying common sense.

"Now is not the time to discuss this," Qi Xiu said, his expression growing somewhat grim. "How far are we from Hundred Coffin Mountain?"

"There's still…"

Before Tuo Zhou could finish his response to Qi Xiu, his expression abruptly changed. His innate talent for sensing danger suddenly flared, warning him of a terrifying threat rapidly approaching them. The suffocating, oppressive panic left him gasping, unable to utter a sound.

Frowning, Qi Xiu pressed a Suppressing Talisman onto Tuo Zhou's forehead to steady his mind, then with a wave of his sleeve, he unleashed a multitude of Talisman Scripts.

A winding black river surged towards them from the void!

The Rune Array—Heavenly River!

Seated on an ice floe drifting on the Heavenly River, Qi Xiu pressed his five fingers against the back of Tuo Zhou's neck, sending a surge of faint Lei Mang through him.

"Ah!" Tuo Zhou cried out, the stimulation of the Lei Mang jolting him from his terrified state. "White Impermanence! It's White Impermanence!"

SMACK!

A heavy slap landed on the face of the howling Tuo Zhou. Qi Xiu's eyes flashed with Lei Mang, and he silently invoked the Dragon Might Spell.

"Calm down!" Qi Xiu commanded.

The fear and panic in Tuo Zhou's heart were overwhelmed by the heavy pressure Qi Xiu exuded, and Tuo Zhou's complexion finally returned to normal.

"I said we shouldn't have come during the sandstorm period! Now we've encountered a true disaster!" Tuo Zhou lamented, his face mournful as he slumped onto the ice floe, clutching his head and bitterly regretting taking this job. "You drove Meng Po away, only to attract something even worse!"

"Stop your pointless talk," Qi Xiu interjected. "What exactly is White Impermanence? Is it more terrifying than Meng Po?"

"Terrifying?" Tuo Zhou exclaimed. "It's far beyond terrifying—it's absolute despair! Once White Impermanence sets its sights on someone, no one has ever escaped. It's an inescapable doom."

Inescapable doom?

Narrowing his eyes, Qi Xiu stood up and looked behind him. About tens of li away, a chilling wind was sweeping through. Countless scraps of paper ash fluttered about like a blizzard, emanating an aura so chillingly eerie it made one's scalp tingle and skin crawl with goosebumps.

Within that whirling wind of paper ash, a tall, gaunt figure wearing a high hat and white robes was approaching with rigid, sinister steps.

"It" walked very slowly, yet with each step, the distance between them closed significantly.

"Is that White Impermanence?" Qi Xiu muttered to himself.

Just as he was about to deploy the Observing Qi Skill to discern the nature of this strange being, the White Impermanence, standing amidst the swirling paper ash, suddenly raised a hand and waved what seemed to be a Long Banner, which rustled audibly.

Suddenly!

An intense sensation of constriction appeared around Qi Xiu's neck. A deep ligature mark materialized, as if an invisible rope was tightening around his throat.

They want to strangle me to death?

Feeling a strong sense of suffocation, Qi Xiu's eyes flickered. His Divine Sense spread out, searching for traces of the rope around his neck. But the bizarre thing was, despite scanning his entire body several times with his Divine Sense, Qi Xiu couldn't find the source of the rope. It was as if the rope were a part of his own body.

No wonder Tuo Zhou said that encountering White Impermanence almost certainly means death. This utterly inscrutable and bizarre rope offered no clues for its removal, leaving one to only watch helplessly as they were strangled alive.

However, as strange and unsolvable as this power might seem, in the end, it's just one type of Divine Marvel Power. There is absolutely no power in this world that cannot be overcome. If the source can't be located, then I'll have to break it with force.

With his palms pressed together, streaks of golden light suddenly flared in Qi Xiu's eyes, and an immense thunderous aura erupted uncontrollably from his body.

In an instant, all forty-eight million pores on his body simultaneously erupted with strands of Lei Mang, and crackling sounds filled the air.

HUMMM—

The Hidden Thunder Heavy Pupil at his glabella pushed through the skin, and a pillar of Lei Mang shot into the Sky Dome. Instantly, the heavens filled with roaring thunder and surging lightning.

In the blink of an eye, a torrential deluge of thunder, like a waterfall from the Nine Heavens, crashed down.

The target was Qi Xiu himself!

BOOM—

The surging thunder crashed into his body, causing all of Qi Xiu's blood vessels to glow an intensely dazzling silver-white.

Five Thunders Entrapment!

This Dharma Gate was originally Qi Xiu's adaptation of the Cleansing Thunder Skill from the "Nine Heavens Shenxiao Thunder Commanding Scripture," designed to stimulate the power of his physical body. However, he himself was not well-suited for close-quarters combat. Although Five Thunders Entrapment could stimulate the flesh, nerves, and meridians with thunder power, it couldn't refine the body and also placed a considerable strain on it, making it far from comparable to the original. Consequently, Qi Xiu later abandoned improving Five Thunders Entrapment and did not pursue the path of body refinement like the Cleansing Thunder Skill. Instead, he leveraged thunder's characteristics—extreme yang, purity, grandeur, and majesty—to use it as an alternative method for dispelling Sorcery and Curses!

Under the continuous cleansing of the pure yang thunder power, a coarse, withered-yellow straw rope, reeking of a chilling aura, was gradually forced out from his neck.

Brute force trumps all techniques!

Against such pure, overwhelming power, all other techniques seemed feeble.

BOOM—

The instant the noose materialized, it was immediately ignited by the Lei Mang, burning away until it disintegrated.

Feeling the suffocating constriction around his neck gone, Qi Xiu took a deep breath. He inhaled, and the surging, dispersing thunder power around him was instantly drawn into his mouth. His entire being felt clear and refreshed.

"You…" Tuo Zhou stammered, staring blankly at Qi Xiu, who had used thunder to cleanse his body and forcibly break White Impermanence's soul-reaping method. Unable to find the right words, he simply gave Qi Xiu a thumbs-up.

Its soul-reaping method thwarted, the White Impermanence hidden within the swirling paper ash and chilling wind waved its white banner again, as if to try the same trick.

"Hmph!" Qi Xiu snorted coldly. Flipping his palm, the Hundred Zhang Sumeru Ruler landed in his hand.

"Courtesy demands reciprocity!" he declared.

The colossal iron ruler blotted out the sky as it descended with the force of a myriad thunderbolts, causing the heavens to dim.

Everywhere the massive ruler passed, space itself seemed unable to withstand its immense pressure, twisting and warping like fragile glass cracking under an invisible colossal force. Simultaneously, phantoms of majestic mountains materialized beneath it—a wondrous yet terrifying spectacle.

As the ruler pressed down, the vast sand dunes seemed to tremble. The originally flat ground instantly buckled and wrinkled, as if an invisible colossal hand gripped the space between heaven and earth, about to crush it into a new form.

BANG!

The swirling paper ash and chilling wind were instantly quelled, and the eerie, terrifying White Impermanence seemed to have been obliterated under this ferocious strike.

"Qi Xiu! Watch out!"

But before Qi Xiu could raise the Hundred Zhang Sumeru Ruler, Tuo Zhou suddenly cried out in alarm from the side.

A hunched figure had appeared out of nowhere beside them. Holding a chipped porcelain bowl, it flung a splash of liquid directly at Qi Xiu.

Meng Po Soup!
