White Spark
There was a sound.
Sort of like a power like short-circuiting, or a vast amount of electric current suddenly being released into the air.
However, it was also distinctly different.
There was a... purity, to it. An odd crispness that was too orderly for it to be the haphazard existence that was electricity, and yet, it didn't sound artificial in any way.
No, it felt... natural, the sound. Like it was meant to be there, like it was meant to happen.
And what followed was the spark.
It was brief yet bright, and Mike watched as his blue aura with faint silver dots within turned an almost blinding white, but it was oddly easy on the eyes.
The world itself seemed to stand still as Mike watched the way his aura, his energy, interacted strangely with its surroundings, and it went from that bright blue to a pure white. Its shape changed as it went from flowing and smoky to erratically static, like electricity.
Then he felt his fist collide with the creature, but it felt different from every punch he had landed so far.
There was a strange lack of resistance. If before, it felt like he'd been punching a steel wall, it was like he'd punched into a stack of wet paper, and he found his fist burying into the flesh of the creature with far less resistance than he'd have expected.
But it wasn't like his fist was being pulled in against his will, or the flesh had turned oddly soft to absorb the impact.
No, the resistance which had been bothering Mike thus far had simply... vanished.
He certainly hadn't expected it, and neither had the creature, but Mike didn't let up as he continued his attack.
Right now, the world felt like it was moving in slow motion. As such, he could observe as this white electricity caused the flesh around the point of impact to flay and deteriorate at an extreme rate. However, it did not compare to what was happening within the creature.
His senses picked up how its organs seemed to get eviscerated by the white 'electricity', and any defenses it might have put up were simply... ignored. Its durability wholly dismissed.
All of this happened within an instant, but Mike picked up every last detail.
When it ended, the creature wasn't sent flying. There was no fist-sized hole in its abdomen, nor was any part of it sent flying.
There was simply a brief silence, then Mike felt the creature go limp and fall backward.
Mike stood there, eyes wide and tail rigid as he only now seemed to truly register what had just happened.
He stared at the dead creature, and then he looked at his arm, shock evident on his face.
Then, slowly, realization of what just happened entered his mind.
'Did I just... land a White Spark...?' He thought in a daze.
During one of his classes with Alice, she briefly touched upon a specific topic.
***
Alice stood on the lower platform, her hands clasped behind her back as her chubby face looked around at everyone.
"Alright, let's talk about something most of you will never experience. Maybe see, but most likely never perform." She said casually.
A few students perked up at this, while others just sighed or rolled their eyes, already used to her eccentric arrogance.
Seeing this, she smiled faintly.
"It's a unique phenomenon called the 'White Spark'." This caused a few reactions. Students started murmuring to themselves, and Mike saw Kris and Theresa straighten a bit. This made him tilt his head curiously.
Alice raised a finger and calmly tapped the air. Her energy was emitted softly and with controlled precision.
"When people like us use our abilities and release energy," She started. "It doesn't always align perfectly with the natural flow of said energy in the world. In fact, it rarely does. Everyone's energy is unique and flows at a different... let's say wavelength." She raised her hand, and a pulse of white light flared, a hum similar to the sound from a tuning fork resonating.
"But sometimes. Very rarely. Your energy synchronizes perfectly with the surrounding energy perfectly. The two wavelengths overlap seamlessly for a moment." The light in her hand shifted. It wasn't just glowing now but vibrating.
"In that moment. There is no wastage. No interference, no resistance. Your energy becomes the world's energy and vice versa." The glow abruptly vanished, clearly against her will, and she pouted, but she still continued.
"That is what we call the White Spark. It lasts less than a fraction of a second. But in that instant, as long as your attack lands, everything before you bends over. Defenses won't matter, and whatever damage you thought you were going to inflict initially pales in comparison to what you originally thought. Because you aren't just striking the world. No," She smiled. "You're striking with it."
Silence followed, and everyone stared at her with awe and slight shock. That sounded... fantastical, and even Mike found himself leaning forward.
"That said," Alice let her energy face. "You can't exactly force it. It isn't a technique you can learn. It more or less just... happens. Even powerful ability users rarely succeed at landing it at will, and I've only managed a few in my lifetime, none of which happened when I actually wanted them to." Her expression was wry at that.
"Anyway, when you get experienced enough, you might be able to get a feel for when the conditions line up to land one. But most likely, even if you notice, the moment would have passed." She shrugged.
"But to summarize, think of it as the world giving you a pat on the back for a REALLY good punch."
***
Mike stared at his hands before staring back at the corpse before him, then he clenched his fists with excitement.
'That was awesome!' He exclaimed inwardly. He recalled the feeling of the punch in detail and felt a strange sense of euphoria. The sensation of his energy blending so seamlessly with the world around it was a different sort of high, and he desperately wanted to feel it again.
However, he didn't bother. His instincts already told him that it would be a futile endeavor. Like Alice said, it wasn't something one could just... do. The conditions, whatever they were, were simply perfect, and Mike threw his lunch at the right moment to land the punch.
Still, that didn't make it any less awesome
He looked at the corpse of the creature and couldn't help but marvel at the damage he'd inflicted.
Its body was intact for the most part, but the moment he focused on its insides, he could sense that most of its organs had either been burned away or reduced to a bloody sludge. There was simply no way to defend against such a thing.
'I wonder what would happen if two people clashed and landed a White Spark at the same time...' He mused, and the image of two arms exploding on impact entered his mind.
'Ugh, calm yourself. We have more important things to deal with.' He took a deep breath as he tried to get his racing heart under control while canceling his Partial Transformation and deactivating his aura.
There were a few things to unpack from the entire battle, and the first thing he wanted to address was his stats

SKILLS
> (Active Skills)
•Haven Ring (Level 1) – Creates a protective ring of aura around the user, defending them from all sorts of damage. Effectiveness of Haven Ring depends on the density of aura infused.
• Primal Rend (Level 1) – When the Predator brandishes its claws, the prey can only cower in fear and hope it passes over them... or the rending ends swiftly. The skill allows the Host to rend a target with his Primal Dominion, dealing devastating damage while suppressing any energy and ability in the way of the attack, increasing the damage significantly while resisting different forms of defenses.
•Primal Dread – A skill born from the instinctive will of the Heart of the Lupine. Allows the Host to project his aura as an oppressive field, suppressing surrounding energy and enforcing instinctive submission on nearby beings. Those caught in its range feel as though they are prey before a true apex predator.
The potency of Primal Dread scales with the Host's Ferocity, aura output, and killing intent
•Crimson Ladder (First Step) – A combat style devised by Masha and adapted by the Host. Built upon compounding momentum, each motion fuels the next in a relentless chain. Though simple in structure, it demands an exceptionally durable and powerful physique. First Step represents the initial master and grants access to its core movements and flow.
•Partial Transformation (Stable Variant) – Lupines are creatures of both control and wildness. This Stable Variant allows the Host to partially assume his true form without surrendering to instinct. Grants heightened strength, agility, natural weapons (claws, fur, tail), and improved balance, while maintaining mental clarity.
•Overclocking (Level 1) – By forcefully accelerating energy pathways, the Host can dramatically boost physical performance. Comes at the cost of rapid energy depletion and severe bodily strain. Prolonged use risks exhaustion and internal damage.
• Primal Awareness (Level 3) – The Host can precisely direct his instincts to warn of danger, incoming attacks, or nefarious intent. Moreover, the Host can get an idea of the possible moves an opponent can make and narrow down his consequent decisions. In addition, the Host can now feel the 'flow' of an opponent's energy, allowing anticipation of when and where they will move before they do.
• Predator's Foresight (Level 3) – It's only natural for a predator to excel at hunting, and to excel at hunting, the predator must know how to read their prey. Allows the host to see an outline of their target that alludes to how the target will move after, while also analyzing the flow of their movements and rhythm, allowing the Host to better memorize the way they move, and the Host's mind can unconsciously memorize these patterns to be repeated precisely. The Host's vision can also penetrate flesh and perceive the internal flow of energy, muscle tension, nerve signals, and so on, revealing openings and weak points in real time. Effectiveness of Predator's Foresight scales with energy output and mental energy expended.
• Primal Tracking (Level 1) – Sometimes, the prey of a predator isn't always readily available. As such, the predator must use its senses and skills to track prey to hunt.
With Primal Tracking, the user fuses their instincts and aura to form a hunting sense beyond the physical, allowing them to perceive and follow the lingering imprint of movement, emotion, or energy.
The more familiar the prey, the deeper the connection, enabling pursuit across distance and concealment alike.]
> (Passive Skills)
• Bestial Adaptation – Physical stats (strength, reflexes, stamina, and senses) are heightened even in human form.
• High-Speed Regeneration – Natural regeneration is enhanced to incredible speeds, allowing the Host to recover from injuries, both big and small, at record speeds, as well as recover from physical and mental fatigue significantly faster as well as recover lost energy quicker.
• Aura Modulation – Through disciplined control, Host can regulate the intensity and spread of his aura at will, reducing waste and maintaining longer active periods without strain.
• Hunter's Banquet – The Host gains permanent stat points from consuming defeated prey. Stats gained depend on the strength and inclination of the prey.

ABILITIES
• Primal Dominion [A]
A combat-type aura ability that embodies the will of the Heart of the Lupine. Enhances physical performance beyond natural limits, reinforces every strike, and can be shaped into devastating bursts or protective barriers.
Due to the Heart of the Lupine refusing to accept such defiance, this ability now exerts an instinctive authority over energy and lifeforms within range, suppressing rebellious or hostile flows and foes and forcing them into obedience. When activated in full, it projects the intent of a true predator, demanding respect from all who sense it.
• Vitalis Core [B+]
A recovery-type ability that drastically increases the Vitality of the user. Through this ability, the user can heal from small injuries to recovering from serious injuries as well as being able to regenerate lost limbs. Speed of regeneration, as well as the seriousness of the wound, determines how much energy is consumed to recover.

EQUIPMENT
White-steel Gauntlets: Special Gauntlets made using White-steel and Moonlit Jade. While the gauntlets are equipped, the user gains +10 in strength and +15 in endurance.

Mike stared at his stats, and then he nodded blankly.
'Right. Spurt Theory might be correct. It's only the first day, and all my base stats are over a hundred, and I upgraded two of my skills while gaining 7 levels. Wow, okay.' He thought, unable to bring himself to react too strongly as he was, quite frankly, too stunned to have an over-the-top reaction. However, he took a deep breath.
'Okay. Let's break this down properly...'
