Cultivating Through The Game

Chapter 257: The Black of Black Sand City

"Please come in, sir." The two guards, suppressing their inner fear, looked at Lu Yu with fawning expressions, put away their long spears, and gestured for Lu Yu to enter Black Sand City.

After Lu Yu left, the two guards breathed a sigh of relief, then their expressions changed as they realized they lost out by not collecting the city entrance fee from Lu Yu, and now they had to cover it themselves.

"Such a loss, really such a loss!" The two muttered in complaint.

"City entrance fee, 600 gold." The guard said matter-of-factly as he saw the next person trying to enter the city.

"Wasn't it 100 gold? How did it become 600 gold?" That person, of course, wouldn't pay extra without question and immediately argued.

The guard looked at him disdainfully and said coldly, "If you don't pay, you can't enter. Stop blocking the way for others, move aside, move aside."

The middle-aged man behind the young person placed a hand on his shoulder, expressionless as he handed over 600 gold to the guard, and the two walked into the city.

Having received the money, the guard weighed the pouch, let the young man through, and stopped the middle-aged man with his spear, saying, "It's 600 per person."

The middle-aged man squinted his eyes, revealing an aura of peak mastery in controlling his energy. The two guards exchanged a glance, withdrew their spears, and said, "Go ahead, next time it won't be this cheap."

Once the spears were put away, the middle-aged man walked into Black Sand City, with the young man beside him, chatting excitedly while occasionally glancing at the two guards, full of displeasure.

"There's nothing fair or unfair, in Black Sand City, strength is the only principle." The middle-aged man said, patting the young man's head in advice.

Lu Yu walked within Black Sand City, blending with the crowd and silently sensing the movements of the Shura Ghost. He was attempting to use this opportunity to locate the Iron Tomb's main base.

Even if he couldn't find the Iron Tomb's main base, locating their outpost in Black Sand City would be beneficial.

In Lu Yu's perception, the Shura Ghost had finally stopped moving at a location, seemingly having arrived at their destination.

His expression shifted, he glanced at a nearby tavern and went inside, sitting in a dimly lit corner.

A waiter, with a somewhat stained towel over his shoulder, approached, wiping the table vigorously as he asked, "What would you like, sir?"

Lu Yu casually scanned the tavern's tables and replied, "A pot of wine and a bowl of braised beef."

The waiter placed the towel back on his shoulder and said loudly, "Alright, sir, please wait a moment, the wine and beef will be served shortly."

He hurried away.

After the waiter left, Lu Yu focused his attention on the spiritual marking on the Shura Ghost. Concentrating, Lu Yu could perceive the scene around the Shura Ghost through the spiritual mark.

The Shura Ghost was sitting on a makeshift wooden bed, speaking, and in the shadows of a corner of the room, there seemed to be someone standing, hidden in the shadows so that Lu Yu couldn't see clearly.

"That person's ability to escape isn't weak, they got away." The Shura Ghost said flatly.

The person in the shadows sounded surprised, "They actually managed to escape from you? Are they really that formidable?"

The Shura Ghost glanced at him and said, "I only fight, I'm not skilled at pursuing. If it weren't for your requirement to capture them alive, they wouldn't have escaped."

The person in the shadows didn't speak for a moment, then said, "Let's set aside Lu Yu for now, first focus on assisting Sand King Hall..."

"Who?" The Shura Ghost suddenly stood up and shouted.

He quickly turned and scanned the room, releasing his senses to search for the person spying on him, feeling a strong sense of being watched just now.

Swish~ Lu Yu retracted his focus, and with the disappearance of the prying sense, the Shura Ghost's expression darkened as he looked around, "Someone is watching us."

The person in the shadows immediately said, "This place is no longer safe, let's relocate to the third base."

The two vanished from the room, and Lu Yu sensed the spiritual mark representing the Shura Ghost moving quickly, soon disappearing from his perception range.

Black Sand City's area isn't small, and Lu Yu couldn't sense every corner of it. Moreover, when the Shura Ghost entered special areas, the range of the spiritual mark's perception would shrink even further.

Only when relatively close could he sense their presence.

Bam~ The pot of wine and beef were placed on Lu Yu's table. The waiter wiped his forehead with the greasy towel and said, "Enjoy, sir."

"Waiter..." a customer at the table by the door called out loudly.

"Yes, sir, I'll be right there." The waiter quickly ran over to the customer, tidying up the tables and chairs, and inquired what they wanted to eat.

Lu Yu glanced at the black ceramic bowl on the table; he could clearly see the grease that hadn't been cleaned and some unknown black substance stuck to the rim.

The beef also had a sour smell, as if it had been sitting out for a long time, and the wine in the pot had no aroma at all, resembling plain water.

He didn't touch the wine pot or the plate of beef.

Watching people use unwashed ceramic bowls without concern, drinking tasteless, watery wine, and chewing possibly spoiled beef, Lu Yu's eye twitched.

"Waiter, the bill." He called as he stood up.

The waiter, having just served, heard Lu Yu's voice and hurried over, seeing the untouched wine and beef on Lu Yu's table without much surprise.

Calm as ever, he said, "One pot of Black Sand wine, one plate of braised beef, that will be three hundred gold in total."

Three hundred gold... Lu Yu was speechless; what kind of ridiculous prices were these? But he didn't say much, took out three hundred gold, tossed it on the table, and walked out of the tavern.
