My Girlfriend is the Nether King

Chapter 584: 068 Yuqiao's Despair and Sacrifice

Tang Jing spoke, and the Yang Energy Barrier around them began to tremble.

She could hardly hold on any longer.

Seeing this, Ye Yuqiao was first startled, then hurriedly whispered urgently beside Tang Jing's ear, "Tang Jing, let me out for a second."

Tang Jing frowned and nodded, loosening a hole at the top of the Yang Energy Barrier.

Ye Yuqiao then leaped out through that hole. Once she was in the air, she immediately shot Nether King's Fire at the four great Snake Kings that were slamming against the Barrier.

Seeing the Nether King's Fire coming at them, the four great Snake Kings scattered in fear.

Seizing the opportunity, Ye Yuqiao quickly returned through the hole to the Barrier, and then, with each hand, grabbed Tang Jing and Xie Xiaofeng and left the Barrier, fleeing towards the north of Yang Wood Forest at great speed.

If she were fleeing alone, she estimated that the four great Snake Kings would not be able to catch up. However, she was carrying two people with her.

The four great Snake Kings followed closely behind, with the winged Viper Snake King in the most hot pursuit.

In the midst of their swift escape, Ye Yuqiao looked back and spewed a stream of Nether King's Fire from her left eye at the approaching Viper Snake King. It dodged to the side, and instantly, there was a distance between it and Ye Yuqiao, Xie Xiaofeng, and Tang Jing.

But after a while, the Viper Snake King caught up again. Ye Yuqiao looked back and sprayed it with Nether King's Fire once more.

After several rounds of this, although the Viper Snake King had not managed to catch up, Ye Yuqiao had also expended quite a bit of Nether King's Power.

According to her predictions, within a quarter of an hour, the Viper Snake King would catch up with them, and by then, having exhausted the Nether King's Power, they wouldn't have any chance to fight back.

Rather than that, it would be better to kill the Viper Snake King now while the other three Snake Kings were still far behind. After all, they couldn't escape anyway, so it might be worth taking a risk for a chance at a desperate victory.

Ye Yuqiao had taken such a gamble before when she handed over the Nether King's Heart to Chen Hao. It was probably the biggest gamble of her life.

In the end, she won the bet. Although she had not reclaimed the Netherworld, she had obtained Chen Hao, who had pledged an eternal vow to her. Therefore, she believed that she might win again this time.

So, she suddenly landed on the ground and let go of Tang Jing and Xie Xiaofeng.

"Tang Jing, take care of Xie Xiaofeng first. I'll go and kill that flying snake," she said.

Tang Jing nodded and said anxiously, "Okay, be careful!"

Like a fleeting shadow and as fast as lightning, Ye Yuqiao appeared behind the Viper Snake King and forcefully stomped on its back. Then, between her palms, she gathered a ball of Nether King's Fire in each hand, smashing the one in her left hand toward the Viper Snake King's left eye, while the fire in her right palm set ablaze the only soft spot on the seemingly stone-hard body of the Viper Snake King—its neck.

After being struck by the two balls of Nether King's Fire, the Viper Snake King was naturally in immense pain. After struggling violently in the air, it eventually fell into the river below.

Ye Yuqiao, who had been standing on its back, leapt up just before plunging into the water, landing back beside Tang Jing and Xie Xiaofeng.

"Let's go!" Ye Yuqiao urged as she took hold of Tang Jing and Xie Xiaofeng with both hands.

Just as she was about to leap up, suddenly, a cloud of purple poison gas filled the air above them.

She looked back to see the riddled Seven-Step Snake King and the seven-headed Spitting Snake King had arrived, and on their right side, a silhouette with a fiery glow moved swiftly around them before coming to a halt in front of them—it was the Fire Dragon Snake King incarnated as a snake woman.

"You have nowhere to run!" the snake woman said.

Ye Yuqiao frowned, glancing sideways at Xie Xiaofeng, whom she held with her left hand. If Xie Xiaofeng were to awaken, they might still be able to hold out a bit longer.

Unfortunately, contrary to her wishes, it looked like it would take a long time for Xie Xiaofeng to wake up at this moment;

And Tang Jing, standing on her right, could no longer be of any help either due to the depletion of her Yang Energy Power.

At this moment, she was utterly desperate and wished fervently that Chen Hao would return.

As soon as she thought of Chen Hao, she felt even more despondent. She knew in her heart that there was an eighty percent chance Chen Hao wouldn't come back, or else she wouldn't have felt so devoid of fighting spirit just now. Her only wish now was that Xie Xiaofeng and Tang Jing could escape with their lives.

"Yuqiao, what should we do?" Tang Jing was somewhat panicked as the three Snake Kings closed in from front and back.

Ye Yuqiao didn't speak, instead, she looked towards the river where the Viper King had just fallen, its water rushing eastward. Suddenly, a glint of light flashed in her eyes, and a trace of surprise appeared on her face.

"Tang Jing, once you get into the river, immediately take Xie Xiaofeng and escape downstream," she said.

Tang Jing was taken aback. Before she could ask Ye Yuqiao "What about you?", she was suddenly pulled into suffocating darkness—then the darkness vanished, and she found herself and Xie Xiaofeng in the water. She saw a hand letting go of Xie Xiaofeng's right arm, then disappearing.

At the same time, the hand holding her left arm also vanished.

It was Ye Yuqiao's hand!

Ye Yuqiao had used her last bit of the Nether King's Power to send them both into the river.

"Once you get into the river, immediately take Xie Xiaofeng and escape downstream!"

At that moment, Ye Yuqiao's earlier words echoed in Tang Jing's mind.

"Yuqiao!" Tang Jing burst into painful sobbing, recognizing that Ye Yuqiao had saved both her and Xie Xiaofeng in that critical moment, yet Ye Yuqiao couldn't save herself.

Despite her overwhelming grief, Tang Jing immediately followed Ye Yuqiao's instruction, taking Xie Xiaofeng and fleeing downstream, determined not to let down Ye Yuqiao's final, painstaking effort.

"Damn it, Chen Hao, where are you?" Tang Jing inwardly cried out Chen Hao's name, "Yuqiao is in danger right now, come back and save her!"

After swimming in the water for a while, the current grew stronger and faster.

Tang Jing panicked and then surfaced, holding Xie Xiaofeng up for air.

"Ah!" She screamed. Ahead of her was a waterfall.

She clung tightly to Xie Xiaofeng.

With a loud "crash," the two of them fell from the top of the waterfall, and then Tang Jing lost consciousness.

..

..

"Tang Jing, Tang Jing!"

Hearing someone calling her name, Tang Jing opened her eyes. Only when her blurry vision gradually cleared did she realize it was Xie Xiaofeng.

"Tang Jing, how did we end up here, and where's Yuqiao?" Xie Xiaofeng asked, frowning.

"Xiao Feng!" Tang Jing suddenly threw herself into Xie Xiaofeng's arms and began to tremble and weep bitterly.

Xie Xiaofeng's expression darkened, and sadness showed in his eyes. Judging from Tang Jing's reaction, something must have happened to Ye Yuqiao. His right fist clenched tightly and he fiercely pounded the grass beside him.

Suddenly, Tang Jing pulled away from Xie Xiaofeng's shoulder, her tears flowing as she urgently said, "Xiao Feng, we must go back for Yuqiao!"

It was then that she saw it was nearing evening.
