My Girlfriend is the Nether King

Chapter 563: 047 The Ghost Boy Finally Appears

The Evil-Banishing Moon Sword forced all the Yang Energy out of the sword's blade, forming a wave-like torrent of energy that surged towards the female doctor, knocking the ghost child out of her.

In an instant, the resentment in the office escalated to its peak.

This was the first time Ye Yuqiao and Xie Xiaofeng saw the entire ghost boy. The color of his Yin Soul was darkened due to the heavy resentment, and around his neck was a clear strangulation mark left from when he was hanged. His eyes almost lacked pupils, only showing rolling whites and terrifying blood vessels.

"Xie Xiaofeng, catch him!" Ye Yuqiao shouted loudly.

"Wood spells, bind!" Xie Xiaofeng immediately cast a spell towards the ghost boy, whereupon dozens of roots and vines burst from the ground, tightly wrapping around the ghost boy's body.

The ghost boy's face twisted fiercely as he let out a deep, guttural scream. A mass of black and purple resentment then exuded from his body, quickly forming a black and purple sphere, enclosing him and the roots and vines wrapped around him.

Seeing this, Xie Xiaofeng was somewhat stunned. After a moment, under his watch, the black and purple sphere of resentment exploded suddenly, releasing numerous columns of resentment shooting in all directions.

Xie Xiaofeng quickly forced out a large amount of the Five Elements' Yang Energy from within his body, creating a barrier to shield Ye Yuqiao and the three doctors from the resentment.

Immediately afterward, Xie Xiaofeng saw that the roots and vines he had summoned with the Five Elements Spells had been snapped by the ghost boy with his resentment.

And the freed ghost boy then turned his gaze towards Ye Yuqiao.

In the moment their eyes met, the ghost boy vanished.

Ye Yuqiao could feel the strong wave of resentment from the ghost boy approaching her.

She snorted coldly, and her eyes suddenly widened several times over as a black force, the Nether King's Power, shot out from them, meeting the wave of resentment before it reached her.

"Whoosh whoosh," the urgent sounds, like two tornadoes colliding.

"Ah!" Then, a child's clear and piercing cry rang through the office. A black and purple mass of resentment appeared in front of Ye Yuqiao and then, like lightning, flew out through the wall, hitting the earthen wall summoned by Xie Xiaofeng outside the psychiatric hospital.

"Ah!" Another wail from the boy followed. The wall was imbued with strong Five Elements Yang Energy, which naturally caused him intense pain upon impact.

After hitting the earthen wall, the boy was bounced back, eventually lying on the floor in front of Ye Yuqiao.

"Five Elements Forbidden Technique, Spring Comes to Withered Wood!" Xie Xiaofeng once again summoned roots and vines to bind the ghost boy, but unlike before, these roots and vines would regrow immediately if they were torn or destroyed.

However, after colliding with Ye Yuqiao's Nether King's Power just now, the ghost boy seemed to have been seriously injured, as he no longer appeared to be struggling.

Half a minute later, seeing that the ghost boy remained calm, Xie Xiaofeng walked up to him and said with a smile: "You little brat, you hide quite well. Catching you was not easy!"

Just then, a green light flashed in the eyes of the Ghost King as he stared at Xie Xiaofeng.

He had been silent all along, amassing power while waiting for this opportunity to sneak into Xie Xiaofeng's eyes—it was his best chance.

However, it found that the tree roots and vines binding it had become even tighter and it simply couldn't break free. In addition to this, three vines whipped it fiercely like whips, shaking the resentful aura within its silver soul violently.

"Ah! Ah! It hurts!" The ghost child kept screaming in agony, its hoarse voice exceedingly piercing, already beyond what human ears could bear.

After whipping the ghost boy over twenty times, the vines finally stopped. At that moment, even the ghost boy's groans had become exceptionally weak.

"Tell me, were all those kids with good grades, about your age, killed by you?" Xie Xiaofeng asked brusquely, staring down at the ghost child with an intimidating look. He knew very well that, although this ghost child had killed many people, it was still a child after all; scaring him was quite effective.

The ghost boy looked into Xie Xiaofeng's eyes, shuddered twice, and then nodded in admission.

"Why did you kill them? They had no grudges or grievances with you."

"Because I hate them!" The ghost boy answered quickly, his eyes filled with terror now brimming with hatred, "I already tried hard enough, but I could never surpass them in grades. Because of their existence, I couldn't get first place in exams, and then Mom wouldn't let me continue painting, she would beat me and scold me."

"This!" Xie Xiaofeng was at a loss for words, realizing he might have had similar experiences as the boy. Memories of his childhood surfaced; indeed, the neighbor's child was hate-inducing. Suddenly, he felt a surge of sympathy for the ghost boy before him.

"Moreover, apart from hating them, I was actually helping them!" the ghost boy continued, "They were just like me, always in class, attending remedial classes during the summer vacation, with no time to play. They just didn't have the courage to choose suicide like I did, so I was helping them find release!"

"This!" Xie Xiaofeng was still speechless. Although he didn't agree with the ghost boy's extreme methods, what he said was not without reason.

If one were truly to assign responsibility, the child shouldn't bear all the blame, nor should his mother, Li Xiulian.

Then whose fault was it? Who should be held responsible for this series of murders?

Xie Xiaofeng couldn't figure it out, Ye Yuqiao from the Netherworld was even more bewildered, and so was Chen Hao, far away in the Yang Wood Forest.

This ghost boy, his mother, and the other children whom the ghost boy had killed were all victims.

It's unknown whether those children killed by the ghost boy now hated him for taking their lives, or were grateful to him for granting them freedom.

This was a question that both Chen Hao and Xie Xiaofeng didn't dare to contemplate, for the reality and the truth were too cruel.

After a prolonged silence.

A smile suddenly appeared on Xie Xiaofeng's face, as he asked the ghost boy, "Do you really like painting that much?"

"Yes! Just because my exams dropped from second to fourth place, Mom got mad and threw away my paintbrushes and canvas, saying she wouldn't let me paint again. Later, when she found out I secretly borrowed brushes to paint from a classmate, she beat me and even tore up the paintings I had done before. I pleaded with Dad for help, but Dad was afraid of Mom and too busy with business to pay any attention to me, so I took a step forward and chose freedom."

"Chose freedom!" Xie Xiaofeng murmured, his heart aching for the ghost boy's words.

After a pause, he retracted the vines and tree roots wrapped around the ghost boy, helped him up from the ground, and looking into the boy's eyes, smiled slightly and said, "I've been to your home and seen the paintings you made; they were really good, you're a genius."
