Ice bloomed around Talia locking her in a thick icy cage with strange mesmerizing patterns.
Cassius subconsciously shivered at the sight taking a step back.
"What the hell..."
His gaze shifted to Emily. The dark haired girl just stood there in silence.
" Is Talia going to be ok in there.." he muttered.
Samantha shrugged nonchalantly.
" She's the one that suggested this whole thing in the first place. So she definitely can't be complaining."
" Well, there definitely won't be much complaining to do if she dies of hypothermia right."
" I don't think that's going to happen," Amanda chipped in.
The redhead was playing with small sparks of electricity on the tips of her fingertips.
Cassius frowned turning to her questioningly.
"And what makes you say that?"
Amanda jabbed her thumb in Lucian's direction frowning slightly.
" That guy..."
Samantha turned scrutinizing Lucian briefly before turning back to Amanda.
" What do you mean?"
Amanda gave her a strange look then turned away letting out a tired sigh.
"Ordinarily my powers would immobilize anyone and anything after I used them and yet...he kept moving and his suit, it's still in one piece."
" You're right!" Samantha blurted in surprise.
" I didn't think about that before!"
Several bizarre things had happened in succession in a short period of time so much so that Samantha hadn't found anything weird about Lucian getting up after Amanda's attacks."
" Wow!"
Samantha stared at the brown haired boy in shock.
" How is he even moving about after that?"
Cassius turned back to Amanda questioningly.
" So how does this help out Talia?"
" I think it's the suits they're wearing...they probably grant them a terrific measure of protection against outside influences...like my lightning, or even in this case..."
" Emily's ice," Cassius whispered, his eyes widening in realization.
The temperature in the hall plummeted considerably going even lower.
At this point, Cassius could see his breath fogging in front of him as he breathed.
" Isn't this stronger than Edmund's ability?" he silently mused watching Emily as though he was seeing her for the first time.
Cassius had only seen Edmund wield his water ability a few times but he was quite sure the current Emily would definitely give him a run for his money.
" I wonder what her ranking would be now if she took the Chrono evaluation..." he thought with a sigh.
"Well, definitely not bad..." Lucian muttered.
" This won't be one sided after all..."
Morgan stared at him incredulously. "What do you mean not bad? Emily is owning Talia out there..."
Lucian threw him a side long glance gesturing slightly with his thumb.
" I wouldn't count Talia out just yet."
A still silence filled the hall.
Emily stood still, waiting motionlessly a small distance away from small ice enclosure.
"Well, now what?" Morgan asked smugly grinning wickedly.
Lucian glanced at him, shaking his head slightly.
Right on cue, sharp crackling sounds echoed from within the icy barrier.
Morgan frowned slightly, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.
He scratched his chin absent mindedly staring at the small ice dome.
A split second later his eyes widened in realization.
"Wait a minute, is she using ... Is that a...?
Lucian chuckled at the look of shock and disbelief on his face.
"Yep. she's using the guns."
After a short while a dark blade pierced through the ice, slicing through the blocks like a knife through the butter.
The blocks of ice fell away in chunks, small tendrils of mist rising up from them like a cold frigid breath.
Talia stepped out of the enclosure shivering slightly.
Moving through the mist she took slow measured steps until only a few feet separated her from the dark haired girl.
That's when the rest of the group noticed the wild grin on her face.
Her face was slightly flushed from the exertion and her blonde hair was slightly dishevelled.
Talia's lips curled upward ever so slightly, a fierce light shining in her eyes.
" Is it just me or does she look a little crazy at the moment?" Morgan whispered.
" It's not you man... She definitely looks slightly crazy at the moment," Lucian muttered.
The whole time Emily remained still calmly observing the blonde haired girl standing opposite her.
" I must say, you're really good at using your ability," Talia muttered, the whisper barely audible in the silence of the hall.
In the next instant she sheathed her blade, dashing forward across the stony tiles.
Emily watched her approach, her expression eerily calm, her green eyes betraying no emotion.
Talia let out a low shout.
In the next second h fists sped through the air.
" Just like in training... ," Emily thought.
Lucian stared at Emily in disbelief.
"Is she actually trying to fight Talia without her powers?"
Morgan nodded slightly watching everything intently.
"But that's insane, she can't possibly..."
Emily's eyes tracked Talia's movements, then a split second later, a sharp pain erupted in her torso.
Emily staggered back, gasping for breath.
The pain radiated through the entirety of her torso.
In the next moment, Talia dashed forward with a feral grin.
" I see what you're trying to do," she shouted.
" But are you sure it's wise... "
She lunged forward once more, her fists breaking through Emily's guard.
Emily felt a sharp pain erupted in her temple.
For a split second d the world turned white around her.
"That hurts..."
A second blow lifted her off her feet throwing her backwards.
The white light shrunk, then began to pulsate vividly.
Emily rolled over, straining to get to her feet.
Samantha gasped subconsciously moving forward.
Cassius grabbed her hand, shaking his head.
" This is not your fight, Samantha..."
" But... Emily's my friend I need to..."
Cassius stared at her, his eyes boring into hers.
" Well? What are you going to do? Fight Talia?"
Samantha stared at him shock, her mouth opening and closing awkwardly few times.
Emily's arms and feet trembled slightly.
A slightly salty taste appeared in her mouth.
" This...I must have bitten the inside of cheek by accident..."
The red pulsating lights in her vision slowly subsided from view.
" Are those stars... ? I'm actually seeing stars, wow..."
"Come on," Talia whispered squatting in front of her.
" You can do better than this, right?"
Folding his arms across his chest, Morgan watched quietly.
" This is what I was afraid of happening..." Lucian thought slightly adjusting his glasses in place.
Compared to the best Talented, the average assassin child received a much more robust training and the gap in skill only increased when one was descended from a great House.
This made Talia a much more formidable opponent than she let on.
" She's quite the deceptive one," Lucian muttered.
" Well, she's certainly dragging this out, " Morgan said, staring at the two girls calmly.
"I'd say she's being overly cocky. Don't you think. Though I must admit she'd give even I a hard time..."
Morgan cocked an eyebrow in surprise.
" Really?"
Lucian nodded slightly.
" Talia Varas is no joke. It's one of the reasons Draco was hell bent on having her join his little motley crew of wannabes."
Morgan seemed even more surprised on hearing this.
"Talia and Draco?"
Lucian threw him a surprised look then palmed his face.
" You didn't know about this because you joined late. Draco was on her case for a while but then you showed up and drew his attention to yourself. You could even say you're an attention magnet, " Lucian said with a chuckle.
" Bad habit, " Morgan muttered shaking his head.
Emily had managed to get to her feet staring at Talia wearily.
" I don't think I can beat her with my powers. That was over ambitious.
She's definitely faster than me and that's not going to change during the course of this fight...that leaves me very few options..."
Emily's eyes darted to Talia's feet for a split second then at the approaching girl.
Talia leapt into the air with a shout.
She spun, her foot barreling towards Emily's head with concussive force.
Emily motionlessly stayed in place without dodging or even leaning back.
"Is she still dazed from their earlier exchange Lucian muttered.
Morgan's eyes narrowed slightly.
" She's cooking up something."
Lucian shook his head then shrugged.
" Well, she better do it fast because the way things are going, she's definitely not going to last much longer.
Emily raised her arms just barely shielding her head.
Her arms went numb from the heavy impact.
She staggered back slightly, breathing heavily .
She hissed slightly, staring at her rapidly swelling forearms.
Emily gritted her teeth, fighting through the pain.
"This hurts so much, but it's not enough..just a little bit more..."
Emily swayed precariously regaining her balance at the last second
Lucian watched the sparring match grimly.
"Well, she's certainly going to pass out at this rate..."
Talia stared at the green eyed beauty in front of her in amusement.
" What's she plotting? She definitely won't be able to beat me without her powers so she's definitely going to try and use them."
Talia shifted slightly, inching forward cautiously.
Lucian scoffed derisively, snorting in amusement.
"Now she's being careful?"
Morgan smiled as well.
The sparring match was swiftly reaching it's conclusion.
