"Radiation Scouring!" This guy actually still wasn't dead.
Without a second thought, Juglans pressed the "Roar of Mokosarlo" he held. With a VWOOM, a third energy shield appeared. However, the "Radiation Scouring" effect vanished instantly, and then a hard box abruptly materialized in Juglans's chest!
It was as if the box had originally grown from his chest, half embedded within, half protruding.
Juglans felt a square, solid edge pressing against his internal organs, an indescribably uncomfortable sensation.
His body teetering on the verge of collapse, he incredulously lowered his head. "How could this happen..."
Eventually, he could no longer hold himself up. With a THUD, he knelt, vomiting blood as his shattered organs sprayed out.
He didn't want to die. In Sector 049, a comfortable, easy life awaited him. He could live another hundred years, with endless good days ahead.
He struggled desperately, forcefully pulling the box from his chest. The intense pain nearly caused him to faint.
Then, he took out a pile of expensive life-saving medications to inject.
But then a pair of feet appeared in his field of view. Slowly raising his head, he saw his target: Chen Gu.
He stopped his actions, asking in confusion, "Was the second electric shock ineffective against you?"
If the second electric shock had been effective, how could Chen Gu have recovered so quickly? He didn't have a life-saving item like the "Roar of Mokosarlo."
Chen Gu shook his head slightly. It had been a close call.
When the second electric shock hit, he had quickly switched back to Derek Kun Shen's memories and used Quantum Teleportation to transport the current striking his body somewhere underground. Luck had finally sided with Chen Gu this time; the ability was successfully used.
However, it only transferred part of the attack. After all, the speed of electricity is unimaginably fast.
If Derek Kun Shen hadn't been a master of the Fifth Energy Level with extensive experience in using abilities, he would never have been able to use it so effectively.
Derek Kun Shen's most terrifying combat method had been his ability to constantly divert his opponent's attacks.
This greatly reduced the damage he received each time and significantly increased his chances of survival.
Chen Gu didn't waste words with Juglans, nor did he ask who had sent him. If he gave Juglans time to recover and use the "Electric Talk Operator" ability, Chen Gu might not win again!
He lifted his hand. A Nuclear Combat Technique strike slammed into Juglans's head, which burst with a BANG. His body fell to the ground with a THUD.
Chen Gu sat down heavily, catching his breath for a moment before checking on Man Suling's condition.
The first time he fell into the trap, Chen Gu had escaped using Quantum Teleportation and had tossed aside the box holding the remains. While Chen Gu was using Griffin Wester's memories to devise a strategy to turn the tide, he unexpectedly realized this very box might be his only chance. Indeed, during the battle, no one had paid attention to that box—Juglans would never have imagined that a simple, square box could become a lethal weapon.
Chen Gu had also been extremely cautious. Using Quantum Teleportation to send the box past the energy shield created by the "Roar of Mokosarlo" and into Juglans's body had also been an incredibly close call.
There were several critical risks. First, Chen Gu hadn't known if Quantum Teleportation could even pass through the energy shield, which had once blocked a Biological Nuclear Explosion. Second, the opportunity to deliver a "critical hit" was exceedingly rare; the slightest carelessness could mean that before he could strike his foe lethally, he himself would be struck down. Third, Chen Gu was still affected by the "Electric Talk Operator" ability, rendering him blind and deaf and unable to accurately pinpoint his enemy's position—Radiation Scouring had only detected the energy shield's location. Teleporting the box accurately was therefore incredibly difficult.
That was why he hadn't chosen to teleport it to Juglans's head, but rather to the larger target of his chest cavity. Chen Gu's plan had been for the box to completely penetrate the chest, but it had only ended up half-embedded.
Lastly, and most dangerously, the box contained a piece of mysterious remains. No one knew if something unexpected might happen to it during Quantum Teleportation!
Fortunately, the outcome was positive: Chen Gu survived.
He picked up the box and checked Man Suling's condition. The she-wolf looked miserable, her nose blackened. She was merely unconscious, however, and her injuries were not fatal.
Chen Gu administered a healing agent to her. The medicine quickly took effect. Aided by the robust constitution of the Werewolves of the Magic Mountain, Man Suling soon regained consciousness. After telling her to "be careful," Chen Gu quickly headed to the trap.
The trap was four meters deep. Crudely set up by Juglans in haste, its bottom was lined with sharp spikes. The ape had been impaled by two of them—one through the thigh and another through the right shoulder.
The creature was already unconscious. When Chen Gu treated him and pulled out the spikes, the pain woke the ape.
Amidst its agonizing cries, Chen Gu efficiently bandaged the wounds and administered another healing agent.
Then, before Chen Gu could catch his breath, he heard Man Suling let out a startled cry from above!
Chen Gu gestured for the ape to be quiet and scaled the edge of the trap like a large gecko.
Above, Man Suling was like a wolf poised to strike. Crouching on all fours, her tail held tightly behind her, she moved sideways before a group of people, menacingly baring her teeth. In truth, she was seeking an opportunity to pounce.
In front of her, a group of specially armed thugs was slowly closing in.
These individuals had evidently used some kind of genetic agent. Their limbs were insect-like—long and thick, somewhat out of proportion to their torsos. It was clear at a glance that they were far more dangerous than ordinary humans.
They were well-trained and didn't rush to engage Man Suling. Instead, they coordinated their approach, steadily pressing her. Man Suling grew agitated. She wanted to retaliate but was constantly threatened by multiple weapons, forcing her to retreat step by step.
Chen Gu vaulted over the edge. Man Suling growled resentfully at the strange figures before retreating behind Chen Gu, whimpering softly as if she were a beaten dog complaining to her master: They're bullying me!
Chen Gu casually stroked the wolf's head; the fur was soft and fluffy, a delightful sensation.
The insect-like figures stopped, then parted to form a path, allowing an old man with pale, vacant eyes, casually holding a peculiar handgun, to slowly step forward.
Concerned despite his injuries, the ape endured the pain and climbed up from below, joining Chen Gu and Man Suling.
The old man gave a single nod to the three of them. His manners were poised and polite, hardly befitting someone from this dark and barbaric underworld.
"Greetings to the three of you. I am the Night Demon King."
Ever since this seemingly peaceful old man appeared, Chen Gu's Mind Belief had been issuing continuous, frantic psychic warnings!
