The hivemind is conquering for me?

Chapter 601: First Moon Appearance

Nerissa absorbed what Sol just said to her. For all her research into the matter when Apollo left to heal himself, the Spartari empire just had not deep dived into the Mindspace. For good reason. Allowing anyone inside, who is not trained to go inside, is just a disaster waiting to happen.

That and you are most vulnerable. If something starts attacking you from within your own mind, it's the end of the line. No one would risk studying it with that kind of risk to their health.

Therefore this was invaluable to her. Knowing more about her source of intrigue. She wanted to know what this feeling of home was like, but she doubted she would get to find out soon.

"!!!"

On instinct her body suddenly turned around and manifested a spear towards a source of danger. Her instinct quickly paved the way to confusion as she looked at Apollo holding a rod in his hand. A rod of material she knew all too well.

"Apollo... Why do you have that?"

...

Looking over to Nerissa in confusion, I raised my stick up to my shoulder and asked. "Oh shit, have I not shown you this before? Oops." I said, still getting over the wonderful feeling of having a weight that I was not aware of how heavy it really was, removed from the inside of my Mindspace.

Through sheer dumb luck and Sol's questionable guidance, I had managed to enter bondage with my stick. It being an anti Psionic thing, this should have been impossible, but... My stick had begun to develop its own state of self. Evidence of travelling multiple galaxies, bonking Jewel to hijack power and mind controlling Sophia for a while.

With it wanting to bond with me and me wanting my stick in a more easy to access location, We somehow created a stable environment within my Mindspace where its using ambient Psionic energy I collect to keep it shackled there, unlike the others in chains that use my Psionic energy to keep their form there.

In simple terms. The only reason any of this paradoxical Psionic bulshittery is working is because both the stick and I want this. A psionic and anti Psionic existence wanting the same thing; creating a self sustaining paradox, all within my Mindspace.

Smiling awkwardly at Nerissa, I spoke mostly the truth. "So, when Jewel found out how I was injured... She was livid. Naturally. She wanted to come in person and give her wrath to you all, but instead we came up with a compromise. And so now I have this anti Psionic rod with me at all times. A just in case to counter my weakness with said weakness. Keeping this poison close to fight off other poisons."

Nerissa tried looking directly at the rod and it suddenly began flaming up as Janine got close to it as she was also very curious. The sight of the flames caused the Praetorian to support herself by placing her hands on her knees and gagged.

"Nerissa? Are you ok?" I asked, concerned. "Janine, don't even try to touch it, your hand will burn off." I warned and even Orchid pulled Janine back, using her own body to protect the Sepiida from the cosmic horror.

Nerissa then covered her sight and looked away from the grotesque sight. "Ugh. How are you touching that thing with your bear skin, Apollo? That is revolting." I became a little confused by Nerissa's reaction to the stick. Sol wasn't even this bad after being struck with it by Orchid.

"I'm confused. Your buddy back in the palace held his weapon no problem and that thing was way more powerful than my little justice rod." I said, slightly irked thinking about that guy.

Nerissa then turned at me, before looking away again putting her hand up to block the sight of the stick. "Apollo, that is completely different. First of all, my partner was trained to use that weapon for thousands of years and also had specialised equipment to use it. He still would never touch the things with his bare hands. Ugh, I haven't felt sick in so long, I do not care for it. Apollo, can you please put it away?"

I shrugged my shoulders, I suppose it did make sense that a Psionic entity would have a violent reaction against a surprise anti Psionic entity. To the elation of everyone in the room, The stick dematerialised from my hands and re entered my Mindspace. I immediately felt the mental weight of it and would most likely be bothered by it for the next few hours which was not ideal.

Like a veil had been lifted around the room, everyone, except myself, took a deep breath they did not know they were holding. Each individual present had a reason to dislike the thing after all.

Orchid and Onyx because it was the hive's cosmic horror. The one thing they truly fear. Sol still didn't understand the thing fully, with its universal concept that Apollo had no idea he placed within it and its flames that she held no authority over. Nerissa was its true antithesis and the violent reaction only accented that point and Janine? Well, Janine found it icky to look at and it made her skin crawl.

As I observed this, a smile did creep onto my face though' It just shows how durable Fianna is though, taking multiple bonks like that if even Nerissa can barely tolerate it.' The thought of Fianna then jolted my memory about that little bet I put them on. 'I hope they don't take it seriously and it goes off the rails... I would hate it if I was the cause of one of the primes getting hurt...'

...

After everyone got over the stick making its first moon appearance, we hung around the house for a short while before making it over to the lecture building. Onyx decided to stay behind as. 'She wanted to catch up on her shows that she missed during her Mindspace time.'

Sol however re-entered the Mindspace on the off chance someone entered our home unannounced. A random woman who Psionic people were naturally her prey and found it difficult to see her was no problem, but a big sexy fire woman? That would draw attention in the unlikely scenario.

As we were walking to the main building, I realised people were lining up to see what classes they were in today. It made no sense why they were only telling the students which of the four teachers they would be paired with for the basic Psionics today, but I was just glad Gabrielle came round last night and told us which hall we would be in so I didn't have to wait in those lines.

The lecture hall we entered was one of the smaller ones, only able to host about two hundred individuals. We passed an auditorium that could seat eight hundred earlier.

As we walked inside, we were the first ones and Janine, a moment away from jumping out of her skin in excitement, asked. "Where should we sit! Should we sit at the front, the back or somewhere in the middle?"

"Well those are the big three options. Yes. It's up to you, I'm fine wherever." I replied, not saying anything too sarcastic as I didn't want to dampen her excitement. Even I was excited, though not as much as it is going to be Psionic basics after all. But still. strengthening the foundations was going to be important. Especially learning how humans get taught compared to Jewels' more brute force teaching methods.

"Either way, I will be standing at the front, by the door to observe everything. So I will be able to see you regardless of where you sit." Nerissa said, casually.

Janine then suddenly became struck with indecision. Her excitement was too much. Should she sit at the front? Or would she stick out by being the only blue thing in the hall? Should she sit at the back so she isn't a distraction or should she sit in the middle so-

Orchid then walked ahead and sat down in the front row and explained as we looked at her. "People will annoy me if I can see them. Better to sit here right in front of the teachers desk. That way I only have to look at one."

Neither Janine or I saw reason to refute this and we walked over to join Orchid, who proceeded to show me a look of betrayal as I had Janine sit between the two of us. "it's less likely for someone to start something petty this way."

The three of us weren't alone in the room for long as individuals began entering slowly. Janine was getting odd glances as people entered, but no one commented. Janine wasn't even phased. She had taken out the piece of paper she had been clutching the past couple of days and began reading it feverously while we waited.

As more and more people began entering, the room got loud, naturally frustrating Orchid. I myself was starting to feel a bit giddy at the prospect. I had been here a week already, but now was finally the time to start learning things.

I was pulled out of the giddy feeling though as I saw two individuals I knew and waved them over with a,

"Oh, hey guys!"
