"Sure, if there's a fight, we can break it up right away."

Yue Yao felt a little awkward, because judging by his expression, he seemed more interested in watching the drama unfold.

"Let's go!" Li Yan reached out to pull her along.

Feeling resigned, Yue Yao stood up herself to avoid showing any sign of reluctance and followed him upstairs.

"Did they go to the bedroom or the office?"

Yue Yao whispered, "They probably went to the office! Women tend to see the bedroom as a private space, how could they let a rival in there?"

"Makes sense."

The two tiptoed like thieves to stand outside Yurong's home office, but the office door was closed. Opening it would surely disturb those inside, but leaving it closed meant they couldn't hear anything.

Yue Yao shrugged helplessly and whispered close to him, "I'm going down, you stay here! If you're worried they'll fight, just knock on the door after a while to interrupt. You can say we're going down to eat, and I'll go help set up!"

After helping Li Yan come up with an excuse, she felt it was inappropriate for her to be there. It's their love triangle, so what was she doing there?

Li Yan waited outside alone, silently estimating the time. They weren't friends, so there wouldn't be much small talk; they'd get to the point quickly. Then Xiaodi would bring out all the reports, they'd analyze them together to confirm that he was physically fine, and once that was done, the conversation should come to an end, and they'd come out.

Considering this, it shouldn't take too long.

He also recalled Xiaodi's hints about Qiao Huanxuan, and Li Yan believed she was definitely helping him by keeping things under wraps and not revealing the truth to Yurong.

While he was pacing back and forth at the door, lost in thought, the office door opened, and Yurong and Xiaodi appeared together.

"Why are you asking about women's matters?" Yurong accepted his excuse but didn't intend to answer.

"Haha, can't tell you," Xiaodi chimed in with a smile as well.

"Xiaodi, let's go downstairs! Last time you only had breakfast here, how about trying dinner tonight?"

"Sure, I won't stand on ceremony."

"Do you live far away? Or are you back at school? How about not going home tonight and staying here since there's no class tomorrow anyway?"

"Well... wouldn't it be a bother to you?"

"It's no trouble at all. The more, the merrier. Yue Yao also stays here."

"Alright, then I don't have to drive later."

Li Yan was dumbfounded.

After they came out, they chatted and walked as if there was no animosity between them. Their tone didn't reflect the tension you'd expect between rivals in love; even if they were being polite to each other, it shouldn't feel like they suddenly became friends.

If he didn't know both of them well, he'd almost suspect Xiaodi had hypnotized Yurong or given her a tranquilizer. Last time, it was explainable as a calm courtesy after a night of thought, but now... With Li Yan's understanding of them, he could sense that although Yurong maintained a slight aloofness, there was no hostility or annoyance. Xiaodi, likewise, seemed relaxed, like she was chatting with a friend instead of under pressure.

What happened?

"Hey! Aren't you calling us to eat? Why aren't you coming?" Seeing Li Yan not following, Yurong turned back and asked with a frown.

"Oh... I'm coming, I'll close the door for you..."

Li Yan scratched his head and followed downstairs.

At the dining room, Yue Yao was arranging the table and setting out the cutlery. Seeing the two of them return peacefully, not only didn't they fight or have a falling out, there wasn't even a hint of tension. There wasn't even the initial coldness or estrangement anymore. In fact, they seemed to have suddenly become friends!

This was incredibly strange. Could it be Li Yan's doing? Is that why he was so calm?

Noticing Yue Yao's curious gaze sweeping over him, Li Yan responded with a bitter smile, indicating that he was also confused about what was going on.

Yue Yao sighed inwardly, acknowledging Li Yan's point: matters of the heart become inexplicable once those involved are invested. It can lead to emotional growth, with changes either happening gradually or suddenly in a single moment — something she couldn't quite grasp.

Their cordiality wasn't a pretense. During dinner, everyone was amiable, and even after dinner, they continued chatting happily.

Although the mood was pleasant, the topics they discussed were quite superficial. Zhang Yurong was the CEO of Paradise Group, while Yu Xiaodi was just a freshman, so in no aspect was there deep interest or common ground. Li Yan and Yue Yao, being puzzled by what was happening with them, naturally only joined in the casual conversation.
