As the political and cultural center of China, Yanjing is exceptionally prosperous and bustling. The buildings stood shoulder to shoulder, stretching out as far as the eye could see.

In a conference room at the Biotech Base, a very important meeting was underway.

General Song stood on the stage, his face unusually solemn, gazing intently at the more than one hundred scientists below who were responsible for research on Genetically Enhanced Humans.

"Ladies and gentlemen, you have all watched the documentary on the extinction of the Xing Yue civilization and the evidence footage of the Genetically Enhanced Humans from the world's powers resorting to cannibalism. What are your thoughts?" General Song asked.

"General, we must be extremely cautious and serious in our research on Genetically Enhanced Humans," a scientist with white hair stated solemnly. "It would be best not to use human test subjects. Even with animal test subjects, we must be extremely careful, as it can easily lead to disaster."

"Any technology, the more advanced and powerful it becomes, the more easily it can trigger a disaster. It is just like nuclear weapons. If controlled by ambitious people, Earth would be doomed. Therefore, while we must continue to research Genetically Enhanced Humans, we must implement an even stricter regime to prevent disasters like the ones in America and avoid a repeat of the Xing Yue civilization's fate," another scientist added.

They each expressed their views.

Only Dr. Hanbing Yun remained silent, her face as cold as ice.

If one looked closely, they could see her hands trembling slightly.

"Ladies and gentlemen, today I am here to announce several regulations from the world's powers regarding the handling of Genetically Enhanced Humans, and I want you all to listen carefully. There will be documents to follow," General Song spoke sternly. "After over a month of hunting and pursuit, the vast majority of Genetically Enhanced Humans have been killed or apprehended, with fewer than a hundred still at large. I believe that in the near future, they too will all be eliminated. As for the captured Genetically Enhanced Humans, with the exception of a few kept for research, all are to be shot and cremated, leaving no bodies behind. All female Genetically Enhanced Humans, in particular, are to be executed without exception to prevent them from bearing offspring. That would be an even greater disaster."

Dr. Hanbing Yun's face turned deathly pale, and her hands trembled more violently.

General Song continued, "Effective today, all countries in the world, with the exception of America, White Swan Country, and our China, are prohibited from researching Genetically Enhanced Humans. The equipment in those countries must be destroyed on-site, and not a single Genetically Enhanced Human shall be spared. Even the three countries qualified to conduct this research are not permitted to use human test subjects. They may only use animals and must adhere to a uniform system with regular inspections and reporting..."

The meeting lasted for over an hour before it concluded.

Finally, General Song said, "We brought a captive back from America—Sandra. She is an SSS-Class Genetically Enhanced Human, and a female. According to regulations, she must be executed immediately. You can cease your research on her."

"General, I have an important experiment in progress that won't be completed until noon tomorrow. Can we postpone Sandra's execution until then?" Dr. Hanbing Yun stood up and asked expectantly.

"That's fine. We'll execute Sandra at noon tomorrow," General Song agreed.

The meeting concluded, and with it, the workday. Due to the new strict regulations on the research of Genetically Enhanced Humans and the reduced sense of urgency, no one was working overtime. No one, that is, except for Dr. Hanbing Yun, who still had an important, incomplete experiment to run on Sandra.

In the vast research base, only Dr. Hanbing Yun and a few powerful guards posted outside her destination remained.

Dr. Hanbing Yun walked into a special room that was more of a prison than anything else.

Sandra was chained here. Talismans were affixed to her body, and the chains ran through her torso, leaving her completely unable to escape. She was effectively immobilized. She was also connected to various technological devices, seemingly for data monitoring.

"This is a unanimous decision by the world's powers: execute all female Genetically Enhanced Humans," Dr. Hanbing Yun said coldly.

"Hahaha..." Sandra suddenly burst into maniacal laughter. "Then you must be executed too, right?"

"You're talking nonsense."

Dr. Hanbing Yun's face turned livid.

"Hahaha... Don't bother lying to me. As an SSS-Class Genetically Enhanced Human, I can clearly sense the presence of my own kind," Sandra said with a deranged laugh. "So, the first time I saw you, I knew. You're a Genetically Enhanced Human too, just a lower level—merely an S-Class. You've taken such good care of me all this time... it's because I'm one of you, isn't it? I never would have dreamed that China's chief scientist in the field of Genetic Enhancement, Dr. Hanbing Yun, would be a Genetically Enhanced Human herself. It seems heaven has not abandoned our kind. We still have hope of rising again."

"You figured it out?"

Pain flashed across Dr. Hanbing Yun's face as she clenched her teeth. "However, I'm not like you. I don't eat people. I'm a different type of Genetically Enhanced Human."

"Hahaha..." Sandra burst into a frenzied laugh. "Doctor Han, stop deceiving yourself! A different type? How could that be? There's only one type of Gene Enhancement Technology in the world, all of it originating from America or stolen from there by spies. The principles and processes are all fundamentally the same. You are just like me. I was like you at first, too. I felt I couldn't eat human flesh, couldn't harm humans. But you'll change soon enough. You will discover how delicious human flesh is, how it emits a fatal temptation that you can't resist. You will start down the irreversible path of consuming human flesh and blood."

"Shut up! I said I'm different from you, and I am!" Dr. Hanbing Yun's face was as cold as ice.

"Hehehe..." Sandra cackled, her face filled with mockery. "Fine, fine. Let's say you are a different type, one that doesn't eat human flesh or drink human blood. But who would believe you?
