I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 151: The White Death

"Cindrox can be replaced by Arvenox. They are basically the same tonic. Now I need to create the replacements for the other three." Siderius mumbled.

"System. List the formulas for Listiox, Tosiox and Pardiox."

[LISTING INGREDIENTS…]

<LISTIOX>

- Formula: Rum (Base) + Pondsail Root (Main - Water Element) + Saltash Dust (Sub) + Silvercran Oil (Sub) + Phosphorus (Binding Agent) = Scripturox Tonic (Product) + (Residue) + (Byproduct)

<TOSIOX>

- Formula: Rum (Base) + Windfell Mushroom (Main - Air Element) + Ravebloss Petal (Sub) + Twilight Dew (Sub) + Phosphorus (Binding Agent) = Somnirox Tonic (Product) + (Residue) + (Byproduct)

<PARDIOX>

- Formula: Rum (Base) + Stoneheart Moss (Main - Earth Element) + Diwin Powder (Sub) + Chrysalic Ash (Sub) + Phosphorus (Binding Agent) = Mortelox Tonic (Product) + (Residue) + (Byproduct)

Cindrox was the most effective antibiotic and had Fire as its main element. It could be used to treat a wide array of sickness and infection. However, there were diseases with much different properties that had no issues in resisting the Cindrox.

Cindrox, and Arvenox, combatted the bacteria and infection by direct confrontation, breaking through its defense wall and burning them to ash. But for resistant diseases that could block the attack from the outside like Cindrox, Listiox was useful. It struck the disease by first sneaking into its core then breaking to the outside, a complete opposite approach to Cindrox.

Listiox was made by using the root of the Pondsail Fern, a type of fern that sailed on the surface of a pond, never staying in one place. Its name was Listia.

Tosiox was made to deal with bacteria that could be 'hidden'. Bacteria were very intelligent. Some had evolved to turn off the signal of their living organism and hidden into the flesh of the living. Even Cindrox and Listiox couldn't detect them and therefore, couldn't deal with them. Tosiox was made to detect these bacteria. Its purging ability was much worse than Listiox and Cindrox. But when used in combination with either of them, all the hidden bacteria would be burned away.

Tosiox's main ingredient was the Windfell Mushroom, also known as Tosia Mushroom.

Pardiox was made to deal with a group of bacteria. There were bacteria that had evolved the ability to link with each other, strengthening the defense they had to any attacker. Even with the combination of Listiox and Cindrox, the group of bacteria could fight them off and stay strong. But Pardiox destroyed these connections, reverting them back into the small, disconnected cells.

Pardiox's main ingredient was Stoneheart Moss, a type of moss that grew only on the surface of hard rock. Its alchemical name was Pardia.

Four antibiotics with four different elements, Fire, Earth, Water and Air. Siderius needed all four of them to deal with the White Death. The dangerous thing about the White Death as it could evolve by itself and even resisted the effect of medicine. It could connect with each other, become hidden, and build a strong defensive wall.

The four Tonics combatted all aspects of the White Death, making sure it would never be able to survive.

"A pure Water plant. A pure Earth plant. And a pure Air plant. This might be hard." Siderius rubbed his chin. He already collected and registered quite a few herbs in this world. Some of them were one element plants like the Firevein plant (Fire), Blueroot Lily (Water), Lemonbulb (Earth), and Bluemantle (Water).

He would start to test if either one of these plants were suitable to make the replacement tonic. Then if he still needed more herbs, he could visit Tanya and seek her help. She knew the herbs and plants around Scalize much better than Siderius and he bet her grandmother would have documented a lot of the plants as well. That could save Siderius a lot of time to find his desired herbs.

Three days passed.

Siderius counted the coins inside his pouch. Staying in Scalize didn't cost that much but he had used the coins to buy a lot of things. Some pyrites to extract Sulfur. Salt was provided by the Baron so Siderius didn't need to buy it. Some herbs from Tanya. His daily expense for the room in Crossroads Inn, food and water for him and the two animals. Some drinking in between.

Currently, Siderius had seventy-eight silvers and eighty-five bronzes. He wasted around twelve silvers since he set foot on Scalize.

Siderius used his coins sparingly as he still needed to make the weapon. The materials needed to buy and payments for George and Finn wouldn't be cheap. However, seventy-eight silvers should be more than enough. Siderius still hadn't discussed his reward with the Baron yet and he had promised him a handsome reward.

Then, Siderius summoned the silver bracer and typed into the system the results of the last few days of experiments.

Surprisingly enough, Blueroot Lily was suitable to use as a replacement for Listiox Tonic. He only needed to find the replacement for the sub reagents, which were easy with the help of Tanya and the records her grandmother left behind.

The replacement tonic was called Caeruliox, named after the Blueroot Lily alchemical name, Caerulirhiza Aquisonir.

Next, was the look for an Air-element plant. Air-element was rather difficult to find. According to Tanya, they were usually found in the northern part of the Rottin Woods outside of Scalize. She still had some in her house and sold them to Siderius but none was suitable to be used. So Siderius had to take a look at the area Tanya had mentioned.

After one grueling day of wandering around in the woods, Siderius found his replacement.

He found a thick willow-like tree with leaves rumbling like whispers in the wind. He named this whisllow, as in whisperwillow. Its alchemical name was Sithtica Aerithonir. The replacement tonic was named after it as Sithtox.

The last plant needed was an Earth plant. Siderius had found quite a few pure Earth-type plants but none was suitable. The grayground did not have any capability to deal with bacteria at all. The lemonbulb was too benign to be used.

He got help from Tanya again and found a plant in her home called Green Pasta, which was also named by her grandmother.

When Siderius learned of this name, he finally understood the style that Tanya's grandmother used to name things. Red Candy. Green Pasta. There was definitely not a pattern here.

The Green Pasta was a vine that produced deep green pods. Those pods each have eight to twelve beans each inside. When the beans took root and started to grow, its sprouts looked like tiny strands of pasta, which was probably the reason why Tanya's grandmother had named it so.

Siderius used the Green Pasta as the main ingredient for the third tonic. He left the common name alone and registered its alchemical name, Virida Terranoir.

With all the ingredients found, Siderius spent the entire day yesterday experimenting with them and made the appropriate tonics.

Sithox Tonic. Caeruliox Tonic. And Viridox Tonic. Then the original Arvenox Tonic. All four of them were ready to be consumed. He carefully grabbed the four bottles of tonic and put it into his bag.

Then, the vengeful hunter rode to Scalize again, delivering the good news to Finn.
