The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 53: Those Who Deserve Pity Must Have Detestable Traits

The ambulance raced along, and the driver was so eager to floor the gas pedal that Lin Tian, sitting in the back, could clearly feel it drifting during turns.

There's no such thing as a cowardly car, only a cowardly driver; it's like he was driving a Porsche sports car.

In no time, the ambulance arrived at the hospital. A police car, flashing red and blue lights, followed closely behind, clearly on its way to handle the accident.

"Hurry, save my husband!" The moment the traffic police appeared, the middle-aged woman's voice, which had just quietened down, erupted again, deafeningly.

Two nurses carried the middle-aged man into the hospital, leaving the shifty-eyed young man and the middle-aged woman looking anxious.

"What's going on?" a policeman with a notebook and pen came over to inquire about the situation.

"Officer, you have to stand up for us poor people. This woman is using her wealth to bully honest folks like us!" The middle-aged woman cried, wiping her tears.

Lin Tian squinted his eyes slightly; indeed, the real talent lies among the common people. Her acting could win her not just the Golden Horse Award for Best Actress, but probably the Oscar for Best Actress as well.

"Stop crying for a moment, what exactly happened?" The policeman looked towards Lin Tian and Bai Shishi to ask.

"Officer, it's like this: this woman was driving a Mercedes and ran into her husband. He might not pull through!" The shifty-eyed young man said, shaking his head with a sigh.

"I didn't hit anyone at all; he staged a fake accident and smashed his head against the windshield!" Bai Shishi hastened to explain when the policeman arrived.

"Alright, let's not talk about that now. Let's see how the person is doing first!" The officer made quick notes in his notebook as he walked toward the hospital.

"Today just isn't my day!" Bai Shishi complained with a displeased expression as she and Lin Tian trailed behind the group.

First, there were troublemakers at the tea house; then, Smiling Tiger Du Dahai threatened us, and now we've run into a scam.

I really should have checked today's calendar before stepping out.

"Leave it to me from here on!" Gently patting Bai Shishi's shoulder as she looked aggrieved, Lin Tian comforted her, saying, "Let them continue their act; just watch me perform in a bit!"

"What sly idea do you have up your sleeve?" Shishi was immediately intrigued by Lin Tian's words.

"Saying it would take the fun out of it!" Lin Tian replied with a playful smile.

The group entered the hospital, zigzagging around with the middle-aged man, visiting the CT room, the B ultrasound, orthopedics, neurology—all inspected thoroughly.

The cost of these examinations alone might well exceed a thousand or two.

Finally, when the middle-aged man was wheeled out of the CT room, the crowd gathered around.

"Doctor, how is he?" The traffic officer hurriedly inquired about the situation, as avoiding injuries in traffic accidents is always the best outcome.

"Not too good!" The doctor in the white coat shook his head, glancing at the middle-aged man on the gurney and asked, "Who's his family member?"

"Honey~ You can't leave me all alone~ Who will take care of our four kids?" The middle-aged woman wailed upon hearing this, assuming some agreement between her husband and the doctor, and she collapsed on the floor in tears.

"But I don't see a scratch on him?" The traffic officer, accustomed to all sorts of traffic accidents, glanced skeptically at the unharmed middle-aged man on the gurney.

How could he be on his deathbed just like that?

"You said he was in a traffic accident, and we've checked: he doesn't have any external injuries. Instead, we found another issue...!" The doctor paused with a frown, hesitant to spell it out.

Lin Tian recalled the black substance he had previously noticed around the middle-aged man's heart. He nodded thoughtfully, realizing his assumption was correct.

"If this is the case, does this mean I might be able to diagnose medical conditions with my eyes in the future?" The thought briefly flashed through Lin Tian's mind.

"Huh?" Not only was the traffic officer left dumbfounded, but the middle-aged woman and young man were also stunned.

"Doctor, what do you mean?" The shifty-eyed young man couldn't fathom what the doctor was up to.

"Aren't you his wife?" The doctor directed the question at the middle-aged woman, who sat paralyzed on the floor.

"Yes!" The middle-aged woman nodded repeatedly.

"Your husband has a severe heart condition!" The doctor said soberly, "He needs an immediate heart stent surgery!"

"Heart disease is just a step away from death, and there's no telling when that step will be taken!"

The words struck the middle-aged woman like a bolt from the blue, leaving her dumbfounded, while the shifty-eyed young man widened his eyes in disbelief.

"Doctor, what are you talking about?" The middle-aged man, who had been playing dead, suddenly sat up from the gurney, shocked.

Could that possibly be someone who was just hit by a car?

"Hey, you're alright?" The traffic officer exclaimed in surprise as he watched the middle-aged man sit up so briskly.

"Are you saying I have a serious heart condition?" The middle-aged man pointed to his nose, questioning the doctor with a trembling voice.

"Y-yes, I suggest you undergo a heart stent surgery as soon as possible!" The doctor nodded affirmatively.

"Impossible!" Suddenly the middle-aged man seemed to break down mentally, his pupils turning vacant as the vigor previously in him withered away into a morose demeanor.

"Boohoo~ My husband!" The middle-aged woman slumped onto the middle-aged man and wailed.

"Could it be that I've done too much wrong, and this is heaven's punishment on me?" The middle-aged man gave a sarcastic chuckle, though it was a bitter one.

"Could it really be that heaven is watching?" The middle-aged man yelled desperately.

"Excuse me, sir, I'm the officer handling this accident. Could you clarify what exactly happened at the time?" The traffic officer approached to conduct a fair inquiry into the incident.

"I staged a fake accident, let her go!" Waving his hand dismissively, the middle-aged man just wanted some peace.

With death looming, what's the point of money?

What good is a lot of money now?

In life, you can't take it in, and in death, you can't take it with you.

For someone on the verge of dying, money is just waste paper, no different than funeral money.

The traffic officer scratched his head at the remark, finally grasping the entire story.

This middle-aged man had staged an accident to come to the hospital for diagnostics, only to discover he had heart disease...

It's a bit tragic!

Yet, it feels a little satisfying!

"I told you I'm innocent!" Bai Shishi finally relaxed her tightly furrowed brows.

"Alright then, you two can leave!" Although there was sympathy for the middle-aged man, fabricating accidents is ultimately detestable, and the officer addressed Lin Tian and Bai Shishi.

"We're leaving!" Bai Shishi grabbed Lin Tian and headed out.

"Suddenly, I find him quite pitiful!" For some reason, Lin Tian felt a bit sorry for the middle-aged man.

"Pitiful people always have detestable reasons!" Bai Shishi remarked with disdain.

"Hold on a moment!" Lin Tian turned back again, taking out his wallet, and pulled out a few hundred bucks: "Here's a little money, consider it a small help!"
