Awesome!
Tian Yuanyuan's concert is just two days away. I was worried my new part-time job would be delayed. I'll take advantage of the holiday to get these things sorted out tomorrow. Then, I can finally go home. Qingxue and Xi Yiqian have been pestering me to come back for a long time.
After messaging Wen Qiong, Xia Liang finally went to sleep.
The next day, Xia Liang drove to Wen Qiong's apartment building. Before long, Wen Qiong emerged with Little Tangtang.
"Uncle Xia! You're here! We can finally go!" Little Tangtang yelled as she shot out the door like a cannonball, running toward Xia Liang with her arms wide open.
"Little Tangtang, slow down! Be careful not to fall," Wen Qiong called out, hurrying after her.
Xia Liang scooped the little girl into his arms and said gently, "It's okay, I'm here."
Xia Liang drove them straight to the amusement park. The whole way there, the car was filled with the sound of Little Tangtang's cheerful chirping and laughter.
Half an hour later, they arrived.
"We're here! We're here! Let's go play!" Little Tangtang cried, grabbing each of them by the hand and rushing into the park.
"What do you want to ride first, Little Tangtang?" Xia Liang asked, straightening her hat.
"I want to ride the bumper cars, the carousel, the pirate ship, the roller coaster, the drop tower..." Little Tangtang was counting on her fingers when Wen Qiong's voice cut in.
"The first few are fine, but you are not allowed on thrilling rides like the roller coaster. They wouldn't let you on anyway."
"Why not? You said that last time, but I'm bigger now! I can ride it," Little Tangtang sulked.
"Little Tangtang, be good. Your aunt is just looking out for you. Besides, you're still too short. They won't let you on because it isn't safe," Xia Liang said, patting her head comfortingly when he saw she was about to cry.
Little Tangtang was still a little unhappy after hearing Xia Liang's explanation, but she stopped clamoring to go on the more extreme rides.
"Let's go buy tickets first," Xia Liang said, carrying Little Tangtang over to the ticket booth.
Since they had arrived early, the park wasn't too crowded, and they bought their tickets easily. Little Tangtang's mood brightened instantly when she saw Xia Liang wave the tickets in his hand.
"Amusement park, here we come!"
Seeing Little Tangtang hopping around like an excited little monkey, Wen Qiong and Xia Liang hurried to keep up. A single glance revealed an endless variety of rides, a true feast for the eyes.
"Can we go on the bumper cars first?" Little Tangtang asked, tilting her head up.
"Of course. I bought an all-access pass, so we can go on anything you want, as long as you're allowed," Xia Liang said with a smile, taking her hand and leading her toward the bumper cars.
"Hee hee! Uncle is the best! Auntie, hurry up!"
Clearly having forgotten her earlier disappointment, Little Tangtang bounced along beside Wen Qiong, making sure to look back at Xia Liang every now and then.
When they arrived, Wen Qiong and Little Tangtang got into one car, and Xia Liang got into another by himself. Seeing Xia Liang look a bit lost, Wen Qiong guessed he didn't know how to drive one.
"Step on the pedal and turn the steering wheel," she instructed.
Xia Liang did as she said and was soon having a blast. Although it was a bit childish, there was no denying they were having a great time. They bumped into each other several times, which was always when Little Tangtang's shrieks of joy were at their loudest.
"Again, again, Uncle!"
Looking at Little Tangtang's excited face, Xia Liang smiled faintly. "Okay."
But just as he agreed, a loud BRRRING! rang out, and the cars slowly came to a stop.
"Aw, what a buzzkill," Little Tangtang pouted unhappily.
"Do you want to go again, Little Tangtang? If you do, we can," Xia Liang said as he walked over to her.
"No, once is enough. We should be content. Besides, there are other rides waiting for us," she declared, acting like a wise little adult.
Her mature tone made Wen Qiong and Xia Liang chuckle, and even some nearby park-goers started laughing.
"What a cute little girl."
"Yeah, look how sensible she is."
"This is why daughters are the best. My little rascal at home is always trying to tear the house down."
...
"Oh, I'm not that great," Little Tangtang mumbled, hiding shyly behind Wen Qiong after hearing all the praise.
Her shy reaction made everyone burst out laughing. Embarrassed, Little Tangtang tugged on Wen Qiong's clothes. Wen Qiong just smiled at the crowd, picked the little girl up, and turned to leave.
"What do you want to ride now, Little Tangtang?"
After they had walked a bit further, Wen Qiong bent down to ask. The little girl, however, had already spotted the pirate ship just ahead and was getting excited again.
"That one! I want to ride that one!"
"Alright, we'll ride that one."
Seeing the park was getting more crowded, Xia Liang kept Little Tangtang in his arms as they headed for the pirate ship.
"Wait a minute. Let Little Tangtang have a drink of water first. She's been yelling so much, she must be thirsty," Wen Qiong said, opening the Minion-themed water bottle she was carrying and handing it to the girl.
"Thank you, Auntie."
They continued toward the pirate ship. Due to the growing crowds, they had to wait in line for a few minutes.
"It's finally our turn! Uncle Xia, you sit on my right, and Auntie, you sit on my left," Little Tangtang announced happily, arranging their seats once they were on board.
"Okay, you're the boss," Xia Liang and Wen Qiong said in unison as they sat down on either side of her.
They fastened Little Tangtang's safety belt, double-checked that it was secure, and then buckled their own.
Before long, the pirate ship was full and began to sway slowly. As time went on, the ship swung faster and higher. Many of the children on board were screaming in fear, but Little Tangtang was far from scared. She just kept chanting, "Higher, higher!"
Judging by her thrilled expression, she didn't have a single trace of fear in her.
"Phew, it's finally stopping," Wen Qiong breathed a sigh of relief as the pirate ship's speed gradually decreased.
Hearing this, Little Tangtang turned to look at her. Seeing her aunt's pale face, she asked with concern, "Auntie, are you scared of the pirate ship?"
"I'm a little dizzy."
"Then let's not ride this again after it stops. We'll go play something else," Little Tangtang said, firmly taking Wen Qiong's hand.
Xia Liang smiled at the little girl and said softly, "Let's go one more time. Don't you like this ride?"
"But I like Uncle Xia even more."
Just then, the pirate ship came to a complete stop, and the three of them got off. Xia Liang led them on a leisurely stroll.
"Since you get motion sickness, let's just walk for a bit. We can try another ride after you feel better."
"Okay," Little Tangtang agreed instantly.
Wen Qiong thought for a moment before adding, "You don't have to spoil Little Tangtang so much."
"Uncle Xia isn't spoiling me! He just likes me!"
"I'm not spoiling her. I just really like her," Xia Liang chimed in.
The two of them spoke at the exact same time, then looked at each other and laughed.
At that moment, Little Tangtang added, "Uncle Xia, I like you too."
Xia Liang smiled and patted her head, and the three of them continued their walk.
"The Windfire Wheel! There's a Windfire Wheel here! Uncle, I want to ride that!" Little Tangtang exclaimed with excitement.
"Alright, alright, we'll ride that one," Xia Liang naturally agreed. He then turned to Wen Qiong. "Will this one make you dizzy?"
"I don't know, but I want to try it." Looking at the ride not far away, which resembled a large, spinning swing set, Wen Qiong felt tempted.
Seeing this, Xia Liang said no more and walked straight to the end of the line to wait.
The line for the Windfire Wheel was quite long, and it was over half an hour before it was their turn.
"Wen Qiong, you should sit in one of the inward-facing seats. It'll be better," Xia Liang suggested before carrying Little Tangtang to a two-person seat.
Once all the seats were full, an attendant came by to check everyone's safety belts. As soon as the attendant left, the Windfire Wheel began to turn slowly, and the background music kicked in.
"Pleasant Goat, Beautiful Goat, Slacker Sheep..."
As the music played, the ride slowly lifted them higher, and Little Tangtang grew more and more excited. Before long, it felt as if they were flying, and the air was filled with all kinds of shouts and screams.
Xia Liang glanced at Wen Qiong, who had her eyes squeezed shut, and yelled over the noise, "Open your eyes and look down!"
Hearing his voice, Wen Qiong slowly opened her eyes. She looked down at the lush forest below, the dense crowds of people, and the variety of colorful rides, all complemented by the gentle breeze on her face.
