Chapter 775: Love Dramas

Although Vega knew she couldn't tell Veronica about her bloodline awakening, at least not yet, she could still share details about her recent upgrade in power and abilities. Veronica was a true friend. Jealousy? Envy? None of those emotions ever appeared in her. She was only genuinely happy for her friend, and that was all. She didn't suddenly expect her boyfriend, Damian, to match the incredible feats Vega's boyfriend, Anthony, was accomplishing.

She didn't harbor thoughts of going to Anthony to beg him for strength or of sabotaging Vega and Anthony's relationship just to replace Vega and make Anthony fall for her. Such things were common occurrences among so-called "friends" back on the Blue Planet. When faced with benefits and personal gain, loyalty, trust, and affection often went out the window like meaningless dust in the wind.

As they flew across the glittering expanse of the galaxy, exploring its vastness, well, it was more Veronica who was exploring, as she had never before stepped into the cosmic frontier, Vega and Veronica spoke about numerous things. Yet, no matter how the conversation began, it always seemed to find its way back to Anthony.

"If there's anything else you haven't told me about Anthony," Veronica said, landing gracefully on a small planet with an atmosphere tinted silver, "now would be the best time to tell me. I'm not sure I can handle any more surprises about him tomorrow, or any time soon." Her voice was light but carried a thread of sincerity.

Her white eyes glowed faintly as she pierced through the planet's thin barrier, observing its inhabitants below. They looked human, ordinary people going about their daily lives, yet she couldn't sense even a trace of mana or any other energy from them. It was as though they existed entirely outside the system of power she knew.

Shifting her position, Veronica sat down on the planet's smooth surface, her eyes drifting toward a nearby swirling nebula that painted the dark canvas of space with hues of violet and blue.

"Hm… I don't think I left out anything," Vega said thoughtfully, tapping a finger against her chin.

"Ah, wait," she suddenly added, a spark of realization lighting up her eyes. "I forgot to mention, his father and mother are both Supreme Monarchs. His mother is actually the Supreme Monarch who owns our entire base."

Veronica froze. For a brief moment, it felt as though her mind had short-circuited. Her head buzzed, and her heart raced so fast she thought it might burst.

'No wonder he's so powerful and wealthy,' she thought in disbelief. 'So he has such terrifying backing.'

But before she could even finish processing that thought, Vega continued speaking casually, as if she were listing grocery items.

"His grandfather is also a Supreme Monarch, while his grandmother is the one everyone knows as The Saintess Of The World."

Veronica's eyes widened even more, her mouth slightly agape. This time, she almost felt like vomiting blood from pure shock.

'What kind of family is this?' she screamed inwardly. 'Is being a Supreme Monarch some kind of family tradition for them? Are they born from a tree that grows Supreme Monarchs like fruit?'

Vega turned her purple eyes toward her best friend but said nothing, allowing Veronica the time she needed to process the avalanche of information.

After several seconds of silence, Veronica finally spoke again, her tone still dazed. "No wonder you were catapulted from a Private-ranked soldier straight to Captain rank," she said with a sigh. "His mother owns this entire military base, he can literally do anything he wants."

She exhaled deeply, rubbing her temples. "And now he's about to become a Supreme Monarch himself, while you already possess power on that level. I wonder what kind of monsters you two will give birth to. A literal amalgamation of wealth, power, talent, and status."

Vega said nothing at first, though she couldn't deny that the thought had crossed her mind before. She had often wondered how powerful her children, or child, would be. In truth, she looked forward to it with quiet anticipation.

"Are you jealous?" Vega finally teased, smiling playfully. "Do you want to date Anthony instead?"

Veronica's smirk returned instantly. "Don't worry, I already have plans," she said with mock seriousness. "I know a love spell that'll make Anthony fall for me and dump you immediately."

"Please," Vega replied with exaggerated confidence, "our love transcends such cheap tricks as love spells."

"Then I'll just join you both," Veronica countered playfully, her tone brimming with amusement. "We'll become a throuple. I'll be his favorite wife, and you'll be cast out of the estate in disgrace, a rejected wife whose place I've usurped in his heart."

Her dramatic tone made Vega laugh softly. "You watch too many love dramas," she replied, shaking her head in amusement.

Veronica only grinne wider at Vega's words. After that, they stood up from their seated positions on the planet's surface, the faint gravity doing little to hold them down. They took off once again, flying gently through the stars, moving from one planet to another. Together, they observed different civilizations and species, creatures and beings they had never seen before, some strange, some beautiful, and others utterly incomprehensible.

Time passed, though neither of them cared to count the minutes. Finally, Vega broke the silence, her voice calm and serene. "Let's return. I'm almost out of mana."

Her tone was composed, and though her skin glowed with perfection, showing no sign of fatigue, Veronica knew Vega well enough to sense she was serious.

With a simple nod, Veronica agreed. In the blink of an eye, both of them vanished from their current location. Space itself rippled as they reappeared before the massive planet that housed their military base. A portal immediately tore open, swirling with the familiar hues of blue and black. Vega stepped forward, guiding them through. As they crossed, the portal sealed shut behind them.

Once they were safely within the planet's atmosphere, Vega raised her hand and waved gently. The semi-transparent blue-and-black shroud of energy that had covered Veronica from head to toe dissipated like mist under sunlight, it was no longer needed now that they were back.

Veronica exhaled in relief and immediately shot forward in a blur, heading toward the balcony of her room. But after a few seconds, she paused midair, realizing Vega wasn't following her.

"Why aren't you moving?" Veronica asked, her voice carrying a hint of curiosity.

"I'll catch up later," Vega replied calmly, her expression soft but unreadable. "I have to meet up with Anthony."

Veronica didn't respond immediately; she simply nodded, understanding. After all, she too was planning to meet her boyfriend, Damian. Without another word, she flew off, vanishing into the night sky like a streak of white light cutting through the clouds.

Vega stood still for a moment, watching her friend's trail fade into the distance. A small smile curved her lips. Then, without warning, space itself bent around her as she willed it to obey. Reality shimmered, twisted, and in an instant, she disappeared, her form completely vanishing from sight.
