Chapter 353 Saint!

"Ding, you have obtained the Past Maitreya True Scripture, which seems to contain the ultimate secret of life. By understanding it, you may gain unexpected rewards."

Just as the system prompt appeared, the Past Maitreya True Scripture in Lu Ren's hand suddenly shone brightly. Instantly, an immeasurable light illuminated the entire world, and amidst the rapid expansion of golden rays, countless waves, layered like a vast ocean, spread outward.

In a flash, the entire sky above Aier Land was filled with golden waves that stirred incessantly, even dispelling all the grayish aura. The murky sky was cleared, revealing a pure blue firmament.

Countless segments of memory began to flood into Lu Ren's mind, leaving him dazed for a long while before he slowly regained his senses, his expression incredibly strange.

"Are you alright?"

Aier asked.

"I'm fine."

Lu Ren shook his head slightly, just calmly looking at the Past Maitreya True Scripture in his hand.

This is the fundamental magic practiced by Sakyamuni, allowing one's being to remain in the past and avoid all disasters, calamities, and tribulations.

The Past Maitreya True Scripture, everything about it expresses longevity, immortality, even entrusting one's being to the void while residing in the past.

It is undoubtedly a method for transcendence.

If the Past, Present, and Future True Scriptures were cultivated together, it could definitely form an unimaginable True Skill.

Lu Ren hesitated whether to cultivate this True Skill, the Past Maitreya True Scripture, as it possesses incredibly enigmatic special properties.

"Ding, you have obtained the Past Maitreya True Scripture, which seems to have a significant connection with the Real Buddha's True Scripture and the Future Buddha True Scripture you are cultivating, containing mysterious Immortal Essence within."

Immortal Essence?

With the system prompt in his mind, Lu Ren wore a contemplative expression, then turned to look at the half-dead Aier.

"Do you know the meaning of this scripture?"

Aier shook her head slightly and said, "I am not clear about the detailed contents of the scripture."

"You haven't read it?"

"No, I do not have the qualification."

Aier's expression carried a look of longing as she said, "What is recorded inside?"

Lu Ren calmly replied, "It records a True Cultivation Method. The cultivation content on it is an attempt to seek the ultimate secret of life, for immortality, and for longevity and vision."

Aier's expression was shaken, her emotions mixed with sorrow and joy.

"Unexpectedly, what we have been pursuing for so long is right beside us, something we have guarded day and night."

Then she looked regretfully at the Past Maitreya True Scripture in Lu Ren's hand.

"If only we had known earlier about the secret of immortality within, the whole world wouldn't have ended up like this."

Lu Ren raised an eyebrow, "So, you mean this so-called Aier Land was turned into this Ghostly Realm-like state entirely because of your pursuit of immortality, and midway something went wrong causing pollution?"

"Not entirely." Nailed to the cross, Aier's expression calmed, as she slowly said, "It's not just because of the pursuit of immortality that the entire Aier Land ended up like this. The whole world is facing decay and can no longer be saved."

She turned her head to look outside the Divine Hall, outside the main door opened by Lu Ren, where a view of desolation greeted the eye, with barren sights visible from a vantage point.

"There was involvement from an Outer God, and with their instigation, the entire Aier Land was irretrievably shattered."

"An Outer God? Who?"

Aier shook her head slightly, "Cannot say, mustn't say, cannot even think, otherwise He would sense it immediately and focus on you."

Lu Ren grinned but said nothing more. Since the most precious thing in Aier Land was already in hand, he had no regrets remaining.

He waved his hand at Aier, "My lady goddess, we part ways here. I wish you a blessed journey to the other shore."

"..." Aier was somewhat amused yet helpless, "Do you think I can still reach the other shore in my current state?"

"Maybe, after all, many powerful individuals with unusual abilities like you often make comebacks from desperate situations, rising against the wind."

Lu Ren said, "I am just curious about why you chose to crucify yourself in a pose similar to Jesus. Is this a method to prolong life?"

"...This is the Outer God's constraints on me, I am unable to move an inch!" Aier sighed, "Had I remained content and managed the Aier Ring, with all of Aier Land as support, I could have been invincible. But I was drawn by temptation, leading to this situation, and merely one wrong step cost the lives of countless beings due to my decision."

Lu Ren said nonchalantly, "It happens quite often, life itself is a continuous trial of errors, just that some mistakes are bigger, some smaller, but certain mistakes can be severe enough to threaten lives."

He looked calmly at Aier, with a hint of regret as he said, "Sorry, I cannot save you, this land is not something I can rescue, my purpose here was solely for this scripture."

Aier was also very understanding, "I think Wandering Souls are always free."

Lu Ren waved his hand, quite gracefully turned around and left, walking out the hall door under Aier's gaze, his silhouette gradually disappearing from Aier's sight.

As Lu Ren's back was no longer visible, Aier sighed deeply, looked up at the monk's portrait above the Divine Hall.

In the painting, the monk sat crossed-legged on the ground, with a harmonious smile, hands joined in a lotus gesture, everything presenting a sense of tranquility and harmony.

But in this broken and desolate environment, the serene and harmonious aura seemed somewhat sinister and demonic.

"Saint, is there really no way back in this world?"

"If so, I shall seek hope on my own."

After a long silence, Aier's figure lightly trembled.

Clang!

A few crisp sounds slowly echoed in such an environment.

The restraints binding Aier's hands and feet, the nails had fallen off, she gently landed from the cross, and the half-golden casing on her face quickly grew flesh. In just a dozen seconds, she was restored unharmed.

Immediately she took a step forward, her bare body covered in a layer of pale golden armor, her palms opening slightly, revealing a magnificent single-handed longsword growing from her palm, which she held firmly.

The next moment, she flashed a golden light and vanished from the Divine Hall, leaving only the aging portrait on the ceiling, where the old monk remained in his Kashyapa posture, face still filled with a serene smile.

Yet in this desolate environment, it appeared somewhat demonic.

Just as Lu Ren was about to leave the ring, his footsteps halted abruptly, then he turned to look in the direction of the Divine Hall, squinting as he carefully observed the golden streak rapidly speeding towards him.
