The Reborn Demon King Girl

Chapter 9 Star Tear Content of the Deal

In the middle of the night, Adeline came to Mohe's room.

At this moment, Mohe's house was lit by a very old oil lamp, and she was holding a book reading it.

"Does the Demon King have a habit of reading the 'Holy Record'?"

"It's a good book, always reminding me of how I was defeated." Mohe closed the book and put it aside.

Adeline took out an Alchemy Lamp, illuminating the room, and placed it on the table.

"Whether it's using magic or other means, isn't lighting very easy? Why insist on using such an oil lamp?"

Mohe smiled: "Even without lighting, I can see clearly. I just feel that the oil lamp has a certain atmosphere. Didn't you feel a mysterious vibe when you came in? A young girl reading a book under an oil lamp in an ancient mansion... there's a weird beauty to it, isn't there?"

Adeline simply didn't know what she was talking about; she felt that there was a big gap between her thoughts and those of the Demon King.

"It seems you haven't reabsorbed your right hand, even though it should have been brought back for you."

"I'm not in a hurry; after all, you humans aren't rushed."

"Aren't you human now too?"

Mohe, with a calm look on her face, shrugged slightly: "Maybe you're right, but that doesn't change much."

As she spoke, she scrutinized Adeline: "I thought you would show up in Mr. Doro's room tonight, so? Compared to Mr. Doro, who has become quite mature, do you prefer someone young and cute like me? You have quite the taste!"

"...You obviously knew I was going to come, which is why you're waiting here, right?"

"I have a habit of reading every night; it's not for anything else. Sleep, for someone with a long life like me, is a boring thing. Why don't you have a seat?"

Adeline sat on another chair in the room: "Of course, I came to discuss our collaboration, Miss Mohe. The tools of Alchemy like the Horn of the End are not intimidating enough for me."

"With your current level of Alchemy, can't you make them yourself?"

"—I cannot make them."

Mohe gave her a deep look: "You are truly cautious. You are the Source of Miracles; it is because of miracles that you managed to create World Reflection Alchemy items, right? Even if you were to try again, you couldn't replicate it... that's why you took Abinu's Mirror to repair the Sky Barrier and sought Alchemy Items that have appeared in the past — you don't possess the ability to make such things yourself. You have great ambition, Miss Adeline."

When someone insists on hiding something, it only indicates that this person isn't thinking anything good.

Adeline could obviously make powerful Alchemy Items herself, yet she kept searching for those historically recorded Alchemy Items, thinking she might unleash her ultimate arsenal at a crucial moment.

Mohe became a bit more interested, crossing her legs and watching Adeline with curiosity, asking: "Why don't you tell me what item you want? Many have appeared in history. Some have been given to others, some you destroyed, and some I kept myself. Which one do you want?"

"I want the Star Tear."

"Eh~"

Mohe extended her voice: "You are ruthless, Miss Adeline. You should know this Alchemy Item is not something you can use lightly — once activated, it cannot be stopped, and there's a long dormant period, but in return, once it falls, it leaves all life in ruins, not a scrap remains, enough to leave a city in ruins, a deep crater — even with the Horn of the End, if you're lucky or strong enough, you can survive. That's too much, isn't it?"

Adeline nodded: "But only this can achieve the effect I want."

"Miss Adeline, wild beasts only bare their fangs and claws in the face of threats; your behavior is no different. This kind of desire comes from fear, which is not a good thing." Mohe earnestly advised, "If you really use such a tool, I'm afraid Mr. Doro will not hold back. You cannot summon the Divine Descent."

"So this thing will never fall on a city. I just want to demonstrate my might."

Mohe nodded: "Your thinking is not flawed, but since it's a collaboration, what can you offer me?"

"I'm disputing with other forces, isn't that your desire?" Adeline frowned slightly, "What else do you want?"

"The way you say that, Miss Adeline, it's as if without my Alchemy Item, you wouldn't find yourself in conflicts with other forces. Do you think your Alchemist Association can stop now? Some things cannot be undone once done." The golden light flowing in the young girl's eyes was more dazzling than the Alchemy Lamp, "You must admit that from the day you became the President of the Alchemist Association, you embarked on an unreturnable path, as have you all."

Mohe's sight seemed to penetrate history, glimpsing into the distant future: "Therefore, this is not the content of our collaboration. If you plan to collaborate, you should offer more sincere commitment."

Adeline's expression turned grim. She knew Mohe would make demands, but facing off against this Demon King was truly stressful. She always felt she might not be able to accept the demands proposed by the Demon King.

"Let me think, the content of the transaction—right, how about Charlette? Whatever you want to do, it's none of my business, but you need to find a way to deal with Saintess Charlette. She is really a troublesome opponent. Even when Doro personally took action, he couldn't kill her. In this aspect, akin to being close to a god, she indeed makes me feel threatened. I have to eliminate her. I don't want another Gedora to appear in the world; that would be terrible."

"I can't guarantee it."

Mohe took out a pouch and extracted a single "tear" from it.

This single tear looked as crystal clear as glass, shimmering under the shine of the alchemy lamp.

"Is this the Star Tear?"

Mohe nodded: "Yes, the Star Tear. What do you think of the design of this tear? I find it quite artistic—it's the inspiration I got when I made this alchemy item, instinctively feeling a sense of compassion and shedding a tear as I imagined everything being destroyed by it. I'm practically magnanimous and kind."

If you were truly magnanimous and kind, you wouldn't have made this thing.

The Demon King's words are just to be heard, as, in theory, the Demon King has the ability to allure people... Although in previous crusades against the Demon King, this being seemed reluctant to use such powers, the current Demon King surely wouldn't mind doing so.

"She has locked herself up in the tower of the White Church, wanting to further communicate with God—even though she is already the agent of God on earth. I think she wants more and wouldn't come out so easily. She probably was terrified by Gedora."

Adeline felt she could also somehow understand such a feeling. If it were herself, being treated with a certain-kill stance by Gedora, she would probably have a great fright in her heart, even afraid to face such reality. Charlette probably wouldn't fare much better. No matter what, Gedora is a very special existence to them.

This is not something that can be easily ignored.

"It's not something I should consider. However...I can indeed provide you with a suggestion." Mohe's eyes twirled, clearly she had some sinister plan, "I heard from Doro before, that there's a marriage pact between Charlette and the Wise King. Regardless of political interests or some other angle, or if the two truly have feelings...if the pressure can't reach Charlette, then give it to the Wise King.

It should eventually force her out.

The Human Central Empire and the White Church are basically tied together now, though there must be some filth among them—what do you think?"

What do I think?

"A good suggestion, I'll try to work from this angle."

So Mohe handed that tear over to Adeline: "With this, the transaction is complete, Miss Adeline.

Ah! By the way, if you manage to force Charlette out, and she truly is going to marry the Wise King, let them marry before we act on her. I believe this is something we both look forward to."

"I will."

...

"Hmm~ I think I drank a bit too much last night~" Rastina stretched lazily; she felt she hadn't slept this soundly in a long time.

Miss Mohe's mansion is really a nice place. As the daughter of the Gold-Seeking Commerce Association, she always has to consider various matters, often relying on medicine and magic to restore some energy—being able to fall asleep naturally after drinking, without having to worry about anything, made her feel happy as if the sky outside the window has become brighter.

Just at this moment, Adeline knocked on the door and arrived.

"Good morning, Miss Adeline."

"Good morning, Rastina. I'm here to say goodbye," Adeline said directly, "You know, I have many things to attend to, being able to attend the banquet like this was already the limit, so I must leave."

Rastina, feeling somewhat embarrassed, said, "Sorry, Miss Adeline, I delayed your time."

"No, don't worry about it, I've heard about your matter. I'll write a letter to your father to discuss whether he might reconsider your marriage alliance with the nobles. However, he may not heed my advice."

"Isn't it too troublesome for you?"

Though she said so, she was already showing a happy expression. Clearly, this is something Rastina very much needed.

Adeline couldn't help but find it amusing: "No need for that, we are friends, this is what I should do."
