The Reborn Demon King Girl

Chapter 44 Mohe's Plan

"Demon King! Your death is near!"

Mohe suddenly opened her eyes. She sat up from the bed, then rubbed her drowsy eyes.

"It's that dream again."

This isn't a particularly rare dream; it's just the impressions left from when the former Demon King was killed by the Hero A·Gedora.

She clearly remembers A·Gedora from those times. Wearing the Hero's Armor, holding the Hero's Sword, followed by a group of companions, with various halos falling on him, while she was surrounded by numerous weakening halos. By then, she had become isolated, and that man stood with his sword, defeating and dividing her.

She always repeats this dream—probably because this was the only thing she's never experienced in her long years, something most worth remembering in her life.

Did the emotion she felt back then resemble fear?

Mohe thinks it might have been fear.

The Demon King's fear of death, the Demon King's fear of destruction, the Demon King's fear of—Hero A·Gedora.

Anyone in this world can look down on Hero A·Gedora, except the Demon King Mohe, who would never think that man inept. Even when seeing the hero reincarnated as Doro again, with a scruffy beard and withered appearance, looking as though he could no longer wield a sword... she still felt genuine fear within her.

Is this man here to kill her? Is such a desolate appearance meant to tempt her to strike?

She tried to probe this hero again and again, and finally confirmed some of his states — for the most part, he wasn't lying.

But this doesn't mean Mohe will relax her vigilance; she holds the hero in utmost respect at all times, which is the only lesson of fear she's felt over the years. Until that man is completely buried, she won't relax her vigilance.

Of course, the Demon King is quite different from ordinary people. When facing fear, she won't choose to escape but rather tries to truly control Doro.

In the magic to resurrect Frodonick, she told Frodonick that the best way to conquer fear is to become fear... but the Demon King has no interest in becoming a hero herself. Therefore, she can only make the hero her own... which isn't easy. At least, in maintaining the hero's stable mental state while gradually lowering Doro's baseline, this task is not easy.

In all fairness, Mohe thinks she's been more than gracious; it's hard to find such an excellent and benevolent "leader" as her, especially among humans. And she's always been speaking pleasing words to Doro and letting others tempt him.

However, by this measure, Doro is indeed a scum; he took the bait yet doesn't bite the hook!

According to a fisherman's temperament, if you consume my bait but don't get hooked, I might not return next time. So don't imagine I'll bait again!

Of course, this approach presumes Doro is just an ordinary fish.

But clearly, Doro isn't; he is a peerless existence, worth Mohe exhausting great costs to do something.

But the current results don't satisfy Mohe.

In fact, the Sword Saint Ah Xion appearing isn't a surprising occurrence. It's not that Mohe and the others haven't prepared their identities.

Rather, those who've reached the pinnacle of a field through certain techniques, carrying the name of "Saint," would have sensitivities towards the experts of their domain.

This sensitivity, though not particularly accurate — at best, a rough direction—is quite sufficient for locating someone.

The Saintess Charlette doesn't sense these people because none of them are adept in Divine Art—Mohe claims to understand Divine Art, but her special self-nature prevents exposure to detection. However, Doro and Rose are different, and if Ah Xion decides to search, he would find them both.

So, when Mohe saw Ah Xion in town, she was prepared to let this woman churn the stagnant situation in the mansion.

For Mohe, the best outcome is for Doro to marry Lisidorwei and take Rose as a concubine. If he does this, it signifies Doro has utterly abandoned his human identity, siding as a "neutral life." Similar to many small races existing in the world.

If Doro can shift to this stance, Mohe would grant him a territory in the name of the Demon King, letting him rule a country and do as he pleases.

This is certainly part of the Demon King's grand ambition, and if Doro feels indebted to her for this, he could help her with some tasks.

Doing nothing doesn't lose anything either.

Of course, the worst outcome is the hero becomes human again and fights to vanquish the Demon King.

So, the arrival of Ah Xion is a good thing, regardless of the motive. At this event, no matter which side Doro joins, it allows Mohe to better understand this hero's heart. Sufficient understanding supports making judgments, and Mohe needs this event to back her judgment on Doro.

Ah Xion cannot always remain passive; she is the Sword Saint, she has her matters to attend to, and her time at the mansion is limited. Within this timeframe, Mohe is very intrigued about what the other plans to do.

As for whether the other will inform humans, leading to an assault by human forces?

Does anyone truly believe that, having lived in the Demon King Mohe's mansion for some time, Ah Xion still has the capacity to leave effortlessly? Mohe is not one to be straightforward. Even if Doro is unwilling to intercept the other, this mansion isn't a place for the Sword Saint to come and go as she pleases.

However — she hopes not to be too absolute, considering she's planning to transform Ah Xion into the Demon Race. The past demon races were mostly exterminated by humans, and Mohe doesn't particularly cherish those few left. Seizing this opportunity to recreate some demon races seems like a wise decision.

She's been waiting for several days now.

The reality proves Ah Xion's patience has been stretched to its limit.

On this day, the hidden peril in the mansion finally erupted.

"Gedora, come with me."

In the courtyard, Ah Xion stopped Doro, saying to him: "I can vouch for you; you can return to my tutelage. With my assurance, you can pay for your sins, and become a hero anew."

This woman spoke surprisingly naive words.
