Drawing Cards in the Middle Ages to Rise in Ranks

Chapter 103: Justice Served (Part 3)

The dreadful conjecture once made by Baldwin IV made Losa immediately realize where he should allocate the attribute points he just gained.

Spiritual Power!

Only a powerful spirit can resist the erosion of the Dragon Bloodline, and enhancing Spiritual Power can also maximize the efficiency of the [Blood Magic Specialization].

The effect was immediate.

As Losa's Spiritual Power exceeded twenty points, making him a true Extraordinary, the unrest stemming from his bloodline quickly vanished.

But Losa knew that the "ferocity" and "wildness" rooted in the Dragon Bloodline could not disappear so easily; they were merely choosing to lie dormant temporarily.

As his bloodline continued to flourish and awaken, the day of their return was still inevitable.

Bam—

The sound of stone cracking echoed.

Heavy footsteps made Losa stand alert, Blood Magic Power gathering in his palm, re-forming a blade as crystalline as blood.

After this battle, his mastery of Blood Magic had reached a level incomparable to before.

It's like someone who has personally commanded an army of thousands – it's now easy for him to lead a small troop.

"My lord, it's me."

A cold voice, yet in Losa's ears, it sounded heavenly.

"I'm here!"

He hurriedly followed the origin of the voice, only to find Prajna holding an unconscious, pale-faced Furinjira in her arms.

A hint of panic appeared on Losa's face. He quickly approached and asked, "Furinjira, what… what happened to her?"

"Nothing serious, just exhaustion. Her constitution isn't matched with her strong magic power, which often results in such situations for casters. If she were a human mage, she might have lost half her life, but fortunately, Furinjira is a vampire, so the problem shouldn't be too severe. A few days of sleep and she'll be fine."

Perhaps unaccustomed to speaking such lengthy sentences, Prajna fell silent after speaking.

With his nerves slightly eased, Losa examined Prajna up and down, concerned, "Are you okay?"

Prajna nodded slightly, "I'm fine. What exactly happened?"

Losa concisely replied, "Hanfry is dead. He was controlled by a weakened Ancient God, attempting to offer us as sacrifices."

Recalling their previous ordeal, he still felt some lingering fear: "Luckily, Furinjira's power supported me. Otherwise, I would surely have died here."

Worry flashed in Prajna's eyes. She said solemnly, "My lord, Space Magic isn't infallible. That Evil God also used Teleportation Technique on us, but both Furin and I were immune. Therefore, I hope you'll strengthen your weaker areas in this regard, and, in the future, allow me to stay by your side for protection."

Losa nodded, "I promise you, during this time, I'll seek guidance from Anna the Witch through the Levant Witch Association's emblem, to learn some knowledge on defending against Space Magic. I suppose I now have the qualifications to learn."

He believed that having gained the Dragon Bloodline, his resistance to magic should have vastly improved, and if faced with this Evil God again, it might not have the chance to teleport him away.

But this was, after all, still insufficiently secure.

He had already attained what ordinary people, and even secular kings, yearned for with all their hearts — immortality. Therefore, in the days to come, it would be wise to be more cautious.

He had plenty of time and did not need to rush.

Prajna inquired, "My lord, should we take this opportunity to seize Montreal?"

Losa was tempted but refused, "Forget it; Montreal is enticing, but seizing it right now holds no meaning. Hanfry's death was by my own hand, and explaining this matter clearly is complicated. If I were to forcibly take Montreal, the suspicion might become impossible to clear."

"Let's head up first."

This passageway was built in the underground part of Montreal's Inner Castle, not far from the Castle itself.

Losa followed the path that Prajna had burst open, entering the Castle. Observing the walls breached straight through the middle, one could easily discern Prajna's urgency to get there.

Outside the Castle, a tumult ensued.

Most of the servants inside the Castle had been infected by the Evil God and were eliminated while attacking Prajna and Furinjira.

But a small portion managed to escape this fate.

Those who sensed trouble quickly rushed to assemble the knights and soldiers loyal to Hanfry, and they were rallying outside the Castle, ready to storm in.

Losa stepped out of the Castle hall.

He was immediately met with a barrage of questions.

"Where is Lord Hanfry?"

"Why are you the only one here?"

"What happened in the Castle? Why all the noise?"

Losa cleared his throat and shouted, "Silence!"

"Sir Hanfry, under the influence of the Evil God's Enchantment, tried to sacrifice the entire city's residents. I happened to stumble upon this conspiracy and killed him on the spot."

Once said, an uproar ensued.

"Nonsense!"

"Impossible!"

"You think this is some legendary novel? Enchanted by an Evil God?"

The knights clamored: "You despicable outsider, our lord kindly invited you to the banquet, yet you repay him with slander!"

Losa sneered, "I remember you, Knight, you're still owing Pipin a duel under my command."

The knight with a pockmarked face turned green and loudly declared, "This has nothing to do with my Lord's only heir's assassination attempt. I will honor the sacred oath of the duel, but not now."

Losa said no more, merely watching the furious knights and soldiers who seemed ready to charge forward and stab him at any moment.

The clamor gradually subsided.

In the midday sun, Losa appeared bathed in a golden glow. Without uttering a word or showing anger, a palpable aura of stern majesty exuded from him.

Many instinctively closed their mouths.

For a moment, people felt as if they were in the presence of a King.

This was the Dragon Descendant's aura.

Losa said solemnly, "The evidence is all within this Castle. My two female companions and I attended this banquet alone and have been in this Castle for less than an hour. It seems implausible for us to have laid a trap to tarnish Sir Hanfry as an Evil God's servant in such a short time, doesn't it?"

"You can verify it for yourselves. I am lucky to have so many witnessing the truth with me; otherwise, I might have died unjustly."

Losa graciously motioned for everyone to proceed into the dim Castle behind him.

The knights exchanged glances but made no move.

Losa continued, "I believe Sir Hanfry bore no ill will towards me, but the Evil God's Enchantment is irresistible for mere mortals."

"Moreover, I have no intention of usurping Montreal. The city still belongs to Count Reynard; however, as the Grand Master of the Royal Knight Order, it is my duty and responsibility to ensure the city's stability. The Kingdom needs a stable Montreal to provide ample logistics and supplies for the arriving Crusaders."

A knight bravely challenged, "After saying so much, don't you still want to steal the city's sovereignty?"

"No, you've misunderstood. I need someone to replace Sir Hanfry as the Guard Officer. I will oversee this to assure he is fit for this challenging task, but I do not intend to undertake this myself."

Losa bowed, "Please, gentlemen, enter. The answers you seek lie before you. Rest assured, the inner demons have been entirely eradicated by me."

Finally, someone expressed their stance.

"Alright, let's go and witness it ourselves. If what you said is true, Baron Losa, not only should you not suffer such injustice, but you will also be the hero who saved Sir Hanfry from the Evil God. However, if you dare deceive us, we will not let justice be shamed."

"Yes, indeed, let's go check it out!"

The knights surged in.

Their attendants and soldiers remained outside, encircling the Castle's walls and towers, armed with crossbows and javelins, fully ready, aiming at Losa.

Losa didn't mind the potent crossbows aimed at him.

Such attacks couldn't even breach Prajna's outer defenses. With her Level increase, her power had significantly strengthened.

Though often he warned himself not to overly rely on Prajna, standing beside her always evoked a strong sense of security.
