By convention, someone should now stammer, "Th-thank you, Huai Shi."
Then Huai Shi would look around and tell them, "What use is dressing in a suit and playing big brother with fancy phone calls? Bah! You mess with the big shots, and you're dead meat, Lei!"
And with that, he would stride away.
However, this did not happen; it was but a pleasant illusion in Huai Shi's mind.
Far from being scared, everyone actually looked eager to rush over and take a taste.
The sudden hush lasted only a moment before the Dark Good Brother, leading the Department of Justice, seized the opportunity to violently lift a briefcase as heavy as a sledgehammer and smash it onto the skull of the Earth Spider.
Fluids splattered. Several people pinned the Earth Spider to the ground. One pulled on its legs, another yanked its head, swiftly dismembering the creature according to the Main Sacrament Five.
It made one wonder exactly what those spooky folks at the Department of Justice did all day.
After that brief silence, countless outraged, piercing shrieks erupted.
All the monsters lunged madly at Huai Shi, driven by frenzy.
It was as if he had kicked a hornet's nest.
It made Huai Shi's scalp tingle.
Prior to that, he had already detected the chill of death descending from the sky through his Death Perception and began to sprint forward with all his might, performing the Yu Step.
Thunder reverberated.
Hurricanes burst forth from beneath his feet, almost dragging out several afterimages. In the blink of an eye, Huai Shi vanished from his original spot, breaking through space in front of him.
—Double Yu Step!
An axe split open the barrier formed by a circle of salt on the ground, scattering salt powder like buckshot made of Iron Sand, puncturing dozens of gruesome holes in his body.
Ignoring the murderous light flaring from the symbols of the ten sacred artifacts surrounding the Divine Position, Huai Shi spun in midair, threw The Sorrow of Index past the two Alien Witches blocking the way, and aimed at the Bronze Mirror.
The Lock Chain hissed as it flew out, carrying sparks and black smoke, describing a nimble zigzag in the air. The iron rings rubbed against each other, emitting a shrill and acute noise.
The chain instantly wrapped around the Divine Position, constricting!
The curses hanging around the Divine Position lit up, struggling to form a halo that shielded the pieces of the Bronze Mirror from the tightening Lock Chain, making it difficult to span that short distance.
But in midair, Huai Shi suddenly yanked on the chain, dodging the sharp claws that the witches swept toward his neck. The Spear of Compassion appeared in his other hand, transforming four hundred years of Brilliant Light into iron. With Huai Shi's roar, he pierced downward.
"Break!"
The halo vibrated violently, bursting with a mighty explosion.
The Lock Chain constricted, instantly yanking the shards of the Bronze Mirror from the Divine Position, spiraling back.
In that instant, an angry roar erupted.
The Sky Dome above shattered suddenly, and a maggot-infested rotting giant hand descended from the heavens, as if to crush the fly daring to touch its treasure.
The shadows of the Department of Justice figures stretched out fiercely, each like a chopstick. They raised both hands in a vain attempt to support the rotting giant hand, but in a mere fraction of a second, those Dark Good Brothers were crushed by it.
A cold wind pressure came over from afar.
The chill from the soul burst forth, and Huai Shi's vision darkened as he felt his Soul crumble under the remote crushing force of the giant hand.
Is there even a boss left?
This is the end...
In that moment, as the Lock Chain rapidly constricted, the fragmented mirror finally touched Huai Shi's fingertips...
Then, everything froze.
Time stopped.
Whether it was the forest of cold lights shooting from the sacrificial artifacts representing the ten treasures, the rotting giant hand descending from the darkened Sky Dome, the collapsing main hall, or the fierce creatures lunging at him.
Huai Shi saw a spark fly past his face, suspended in the air.
He felt as though he was hanging in midair, as if soaring, with the wind's ripples distorting the flickering candle flame, the scattered light illuminating the shattered Bronze Mirror.
The bronze shards, however, lit up Huai Shi's face.
From the fleeting reflection in the mirror, Huai Shi caught a glimpse of his own body rapidly fading and dissolving, to be replaced by the Mountain Ghost with its emerald flames.
From the rift in his chest, the Soul's fervent flame spurted forth.
A silent call.
And so, the Bronze Mirror shattered, collapsing rapidly, leaving only a trace of rust converging into iron dust, as a torrent surged from his fingertips, pouring into Huai Shi's Soul.
Resurfacing from within the core intertwined by Stigma and Soul.
The broken outline of the Bronze Mirror vanished. Instead, it merged with the slit in his chest, transforming within the Soul into a perfect circle that sits between being and nothingness.
As if it had always been this way, unified as one.
Forming a perfect Reflection, indistinguishable from each other.
Through the gap in his chest, his consciousness became like a mirror, reflecting all in an instant, then glimpsing the essence of everything.
Whether it be the rotting hand above, formed from the amalgam of stillborn children and the Sun Witch, the priests who'd lost themselves and become monsters, or the Department of Justice shadows born purely from obsession.
And the flesh-eaten hall, foul wind, darkened Sky Dome, and Activated earth.
Under the reflection of the Bronze Mirror, everything flickered like fleeting bubbles, with no sense of reality. Through the reflection in the mirror, everything seemed clear yet distant, as if watching the fire from the other shore.
The world is an illusion.
Then what is the scene in the mirror? An illusion within an illusion? And what about oneself, merged with the Bronze Mirror? A bubble within a bubble? If it's all nothingness, then from where did these bubbles arise? If this is a Dreamland, then where does one stand?
