Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3082: Out of Memories

Once Godslayer took on an identity, the memories grew fragmented. It was far too much for Alex to gain anything vital from them, except some occasional faces that surfaced through the memories.

Godslayer didn't know who he was, but he inherently understood the hatred in the Artifact God's memories and went hunting down the Slayers whenever he could.

Even without those memories, Alex knew most of what had happened after Godslayer was captured by the Sword God. The Sword God had been immune to the Demon-Killing Sword's corruption, but after merging with the Artifact God, the corruption had grown not just stronger, but deeper as well.

Godslayer took over thirty thousand years to corrupt the Sword God, but when he finally did, he used up the Sword God until there was nothing left and then moved on to the next person who would find him.

Alex wasn't exactly sure when it was that the Artifact God had died, but if he were to match up some instances from the past, he was certain it was much before the Alchemy Competition where his master, Silvermist, had made a name.

The Ten Stars of Alchemy would've been a big enough name to be heard by the Artifact God. That meant this had to have happened somewhere two hundred thousand years ago.

It had taken the others a hundred thousand years after that to capture Godslayer. His master, Bladedance, had been at the forefront of that mission, and had even sacrificed her own Creation to trap him, at which point he had been placed in the Sky God's treasury, locked away from the world.

It wasn't until a hundred thousand years after that that the Sky God's disciple brought it down to the lower realm.

Alex sometimes wondered what would've happened if the weakened sword had been discovered by someone other than an Immortal like Ren Xiao, or him — someone who couldn't be corrupted because of their physique.

It was hard to say. On one hand, it was a fair chance that the world would have been destroyed, but on the other hand, Godslayer's animosity only lay against the gods, so it wouldn't have been surprising if he had just chosen to leave the realm.

Alex shook away all thoughts and slowly opened his eyes. He had started seeing the memories back in his Spiritual Sea, and somehow he had appeared outside.

He very much wanted to go through the information he had received from those memories again, but the situation in his Spiritual Sea took precedence. He arrived inside almost immediately, appearing before the set of eight Origins.

On one end, the yellow fog covered one of them completely, slowly solidifying. On the other corner, there was now an ovaloid-shaped black mass that seemed to completely solidify, not a shred of color leaking from it.

He moved closer toward it, almost close enough to touch it. He could feel the Darkness and Death aura within it, the corrupting power of Godslayer still there.

But somehow, it wasn't violent at all. In fact, Alex actually felt some familiarity with those auras, as though he should have known them all his life.

'Perfect Transcendence,' he thought, the word coming to his mind on its own. It was the state at which the Transcendence of an Origin was complete. Now, it was ready to form a Spirit once he reached the Immortal Spirit realm.

"I didn't realize you could complete this in one sitting," Alex said, almost expecting Godslayer to reply back, explaining some random factoid that he wouldn't have had the chance to learn right now.

Although, there wasn't much anyone else had to tell him now. While the memories were far from complete, they contained enough knowledge within them to teach him everything he needed to know from now until he reached the Divine Domain realm.

It was only the Celestial Realm, which the Artifact God hadn't managed to reach, that would trouble him. Even then, he already had an axiom which the Artifact God had never managed to find out.

"So, now I just wait for you to… hatch?" Alex thought. The Origins spoke of an egg that formed during the process of Transcendence. It would hatch into a Spirit that would then evolve to become a full-fledged Creation.

He looked at the egg for a long time, his main source of the memories, and thus the inheritance.

Funnily enough, the inheritance he had gained from the Artifact God hadn't just been for making artifacts, but also formations in some way. He was a master of formations as well, as he had to be to make Artifacts. It was disappointing that he didn't have knowledge of Scripts, but then again, most humans didn't.

Talismans themselves only got popular later on in the Artifact God's memories.

"I have Battlesage for that," Alex said to himself. "He can teach me all about runes and scripts."

Thinking about the inheritance, Alex remembered the main inheritance that the Artifact God himself had received.

"That was the inheritance you wished your disciple to have, didn't you?" he asked.

The woman who wielded a crystalline hammer in the fight back then on the tournament stage, Lady Shen, had not just been the Artifact God's disciple but also her goddaughter.

"I will see to it that the inheritance reaches her," Alex said to the black egg. "I promise you that, old friend."

Old. Just how old was the Artifact God really?

He had lived three hundred thousand years by the time he died, and then he lived two hundred thousand years more as a spirit.

Five hundred thousand years. That was how long ago he had been born in that nondescript space vessel.

Five hundred thousand years he had lived, and today he passed away.

"May your passage be fair, old friend-- no, Senior" Alex said. "I will never forget your assistance."

"And I promise you, I will deliver vengeance upon your enemies. I have remembered their faces, all but one. I will kill Purplerain. I will kill anyone else that you might have missed. And if the Death Sage is alive as well, then I will find him and kill him too."
