Even without focusing on it, Alex could see the changes happening in his body. The eight ever-undulating Origins started to slow down, becoming more rigid.
The peaks and troughs on their surfaces slowly lessened, making the whole thing smoother and smoother as time went on. At the same time, their necessity to fuse back together slowly disappeared with each cycle of his cultivation base.
This was it. Alex was at the edge of a breakthrough.
One more push.
The Dao of Spatial Distortion revealed its secrets for Alex to see as well. All that he had learned through the shimmering sky in Hell, the prison wall, was finally coming to fruition.
This would be the final Dao he would learn today.
And rightfully so, it was the most difficult to learn as well.
'Right on time,' Alex thought as the pressure in his Dantian began to build up little by little.
Alex clung onto the Worldly Laws, leeching them for every bit of information they held. It took longer than usual. This was a Dao he knew the least of, since he had only needed just enough understanding of distorted space to leave Hell compared to the other ones.
As Alex learned more and more, the Worldly Laws raged around him once again. At the same time, the Qi they brought down was taken into Alex as well, collecting more and more in his Dantian.
Then, he learned it.
As the Dao of Spatial Distortion settled itself upon Alex's spirit, the Qi in his Dantian reached a crescendo as well.
A massive burst of Qi surged forth from it, filling every meridian as it went through his body.
His blood improved. His body improved. His Soul Space became slightly bigger.
And still, the surge could not be stopped. It continued until it reached his mind, improving his Spiritual Sea, improving his Spiritual Energy.
And as it reached his Origins, the Origins finally stopped undulating altogether, becoming solid oval shapes of pure white, seemingly smooth to the touch.
No longer would the Origins ever fuse back together. The eight Origins were now each individuals that he could work on at the same time.
Alex took a step back from it all, looking at it from a distance.
He had learned the Dao of Spatial Distortion. He had settled his eight Origins. And finally, he had broken through to the Immortal Transcendent Realm.
Alex breathed a sigh of relief. Even though he had no doubt he could complete it all with no issue, there was always a sense of relief when the breakthrough went off without a hitch.
He had gone through a few too many Qi Deviations to not worry about that.
Things would begin to calm down now, so he needed to start consolidating his new cultivation base.
Before he could do anything, however, Alex found something happening on its own.
His eyes widened slightly as he felt some changes in his Spiritual Sea. Immediately, he threw his senses inside it, searching for what was happening.
As soon as he entered, he saw it.
The Yellow Fog surfaced from underneath the dark waters, rising up into the air. At first, Alex couldn't tell why exactly it was surfacing. But when he found that it no longer listened to his command, he panicked.
The fog suddenly gathered at one spot and rushed in a single direction.
Alex spun to see where it was headed and felt his heart sink as he noticed its destination.
His Origins.
"No!" he shouted, immediately rushing forward.
He arrived before his eight Origins and faced the incoming fog. "Stop!" he commanded, but it didn't listen.
Alex stood before the incoming fog, his arms wide. "Don't. No!"
The fog didn't listen. The Yellow Fog passed through him, leaving behind a heat Alex hadn't sensed from it before.
It didn't harm him, but he wasn't sure the same would be true of his Origins. His Blood Origin was right beside them as well.
He saw yellow everywhere he looked for a few seconds before he finally flew out of the fog and turned around, a lump now growing in the depths of his soul. A lump of despair.
Turning around, he expected the worst.
He was relieved to find that nothing bad had happened. His eight Origins were fine.
Well, seven of them were fine. The last one had the fog surrounding it completely, but he could tell it was okay on the inside as well.
Alex frowned a little, confused. What was happening?
He moved toward the Origin and checked on the fog. At first, he wondered if the fog was feeding its aura into the Origin. He hadn't considered that yet, but that was mostly because the fog didn't have an aura.
But it didn't feel like that.
If anything, it was more of a protective layer than anything else.
"Protection for what?" Alex thought. He looked at the seven other Origins. "And why just this one?"
Was the fog meant to protect his Origin? But because he had more than one, it didn't realize it had to do the same with the others?
Alex tried commanding it, but once again, it didn't work. For some reason, it was not listening to his command.
Alex frowned, but there wasn't much he could do at this moment. Since there was nothing dangerous happening, he needed to quickly consolidate his new cultivation base.
Alex flew out of his Spiritual Sea and focused his attention back on the moment. His body pulsed with newfound power. He pulled in some more Qi from the surroundings in order to consolidate, and as he did, his attention was pulled away by something he had completely missed that was still there.
Alex's eyes went slightly wide as he sensed the Worldly Laws around him. He had learned his final Dao, so why were they still here?
He reached out to them, seeking to see why they were still there. And as he did, they replied with some more mysteries for him to learn.
Alex was shocked. Was there still more to learn?
