"What's this, don't tell me the great Erevan is getting nervous," Orion teased.
Erevan junior simply opened his eyes, his gaze unbothered.
"Wouldn't you like to see that?" Erevan retorted with a smirk.
Orion chuckled, amused.
"I wouldn't like to see anything. I'm simply stating what I observed, because nervous or not, I'm still going to beat you," Orion declared.
Erevan just burst into laughter.
"Either way, you shouldn't worry yourself too much, you'd definitely make it to Magnum 1," Orion said, his tone consoling.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence, but you misunderstand. I'm not here simply to make it into Magnum 1 like you stated; this dorm is superficial, materialistic. I'm here to be the top, I'm here to be number 1," Erevan said with conviction, his eyes glowing.
"Patriarch's son or not, I will beat you and make it to the top, and I will remain there until the end just like my namesake did." He finished, his eyes blazing.
At some point, the whole hall had fallen silent, everyone bearing witness to the boy's declaration.
Something welled up in Orion, a feeling he was deeply unfamiliar with; his blood boiled, and a crazed smile appeared on his face.
'What's this feeling?' He thought.
Was he being affected by Erevan's speech, the boy's conviction and the way his eyes burned? It was contagious and ecstatic.
He chuckled slowly, the sound rolling off his mouth smoothly before turning into a deeply resonating laughter.
Orion covered his mouth, trying to keep his excitement at bay yet failing spectacularly.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," He said, his gaze mutually boring into Erevan.
The over-dramatic duo failed to notice, but their interaction had sparked and ignited the spirit of everyone in the hall, their gaze turning fierce and convicted, even the nervous ones now felt oddly free.
They were also proud members of the Chronos, and they also had ambitions.
Unexpectedly, even Caelum, who stood beside Orion and had promised to dedicate his life to Orion's legacy, felt himself feeling ambitious,
'Maybe I can also go all out, ' Caelum thought, his gaze hardening and fists clenched.
The tense atmosphere was soon broken by another voice.
"My apologies, young masters. But I believe it would be appropriate to start heading out now," The head butler Corin said, his voice drawing their attention.
He stood with the same calm expression, his uniform smooth and unruffled on his body, the kind of grace expected of someone experienced with the job.
The boys nodded, without any words, Erevan jumping down to his feet.
Corin soon led the way, the boys following after him in an orderly manner.
Orion and Erevan's tense face-off was broken, both acknowledging their shared rivalry and going after Corin.
They all arrived at the row of pillars where Corin directed them to one in particular.
Soon, they all took turns touching the pillars before vanishing.
The magnum one dorms or castles were designed to accommodate sixty students, and considering it was only children of important officials that were present, they weren't up to half of the maximum capacity.
Soon enough, they were all out of the dorm.
Corin looked at the pillar and sighed. This was the highest number they'd seen in the dorm before trials in a long while, and he'd heard the girls were even more.
This generation was truly going to take the academy by storm, a generation of talent. The prospect excited him more than he'd care to admit.
He muttered a small prayer for them, wishing them good luck; they'd need it.
Orion opened his eyes, the blankness of the teleportation fading, yet he was overwhelmed in the next second by the cacophony of noises.
He blinked, looking at the crowd of young faces in front of him, their mouths continuously moving in an overwhelming raccous.
Still, the sound was somewhat bearable; it was their gazes that truly unnerved him.
And he wasn't alone in feeling this way; all the boys of the Magnum1.1 dorm were isolated and segmented.
Orion's mind immediately picked up on what was going on. It seemed these were the students who had arrived from magnum 2 and 3, and according to his spatial senses, more were still arriving; it seemed they had walked all the way here.
He noticed some floating on those machines he'd noticed on the day he arrived, while others walked.
And unlike the members of Magnum 1, their hair was a total mixture of different colours, although silver was still the predominant one.
And if Orion could understand the situation, so too could they, hence why they were clearly being segregated, he could hear some sneers and dissatisfied whispers of how they were lucky and the sort and he wasn't surprised, as much as they were reasonable people, there were many more unreasonable, couple with the fact that most were still ten, it was expected.
Orion turned to the side to find another group approaching them, a group of girls.
Magnum1.1 girls, he noted. They all had smiles on their faces, probably glad to find companions in this situation.
He deliberately coaxed his passive spatial sense, trying to find Seris and Selene, and it didn't take long before he found them, their mana signatures shining like beacons in his mind.
He called out to them and they reunited, Seris immediately hugging Orion, Caelum and Selene with a bow to Orion and a nod to Caelum.
Orion was about to speak when.
"Times up."
A clear voice rang out in all their ears, smooth, unhurried, calm and utterly indifferent.
The loud raucous was snuffed in an instant, a pin drop silence in its place.
Orion's spatial senses immediately picked it up, students running to catch up, simply vanished, their prospects at enrolling out the door.
Orion looked up to find the source of the voice standing in the sky, his posture straight and eyes calm.
He had onyx black hair and dark, penetrating eyes; his stance radiated pure controlled power. Orion was familiar; it was the same aura that radiated off Iris whenever she decided to show him his place.
The man's eyes scanned the crowd, stopping on a few individuals before the words drawled out.
"9923."
"Let's go"
