Han Lie had postponed today's training until 8 o'clock.
Pan Ge stared wide-eyed at the ceiling, feeling the soreness in her body, her mind adrift.
The incident today was pretty unexpected.
Furrowing her brows, Pan Ge reflected on everything. As she replayed the events, she dwelt on the waves of discomfort welling up from the depths of her heart.
She didn't care about the incident itself. It was something that was bound to happen someday; she had long been mentally prepared for it. Although the environment and process where it happened had nothing to do with romance, and even carried intense humiliation, it was all in the past; she could let it go. The new generation of girls was different; they were clear about their loves and hates, and unashamed of their desires. What's more... it had actually been quite pleasant.
What she truly couldn't stand was the final proof: Han Lie didn't care about her that much.
The process had been so painful, the outcome so terrible, that now, finally alone, she couldn't hold it together anymore.
"You heartless bastard, don't you have a heart?" Pan Ge muttered to herself, her nose starting to tingle again.
Although she had always appeared composed, confident, and strong-willed, it was clear she wasn't truly that resilient.
After crying secretly for a while, she fell into a deep sleep, engulfed by extremely complex emotions.
In stark contrast to Pan Ge, Han Lie was in an extremely good mood.
When he went to the gym, even Lisa noticed. "Hey, Han, did something good happen? You look great!" she greeted him, surprised.
"You could describe it as 'radiant,'" Han Lie patiently corrected her. "Also, don't just casually tell a man he's 'great'..."
Lisa pouted in a very American, exaggerated way. "Are you making those kinds of jokes again, is that it?"
"Well said, but shut up." Han Lie decisively waved goodbye to her. Lisa's Chinese was getting better, and she was growing chattier.
Go for her? With so many beauties around me, why would I go for you?!
During the workout, the coach laid into Han Lie a few times.
"Hey, boy, what's up with you today? Too soft, too soft! Push harder!"
Where would I get the energy? I've been doing push-ups all afternoon...
Although the coach had ridden him hard, Brother Lie didn't mind and kept his good mood until the end.
At 10 o'clock, after finishing his workout, he called Pan Ge. "What would you like to eat? I'll bring it to you."
Pan Ge's voice was a little hoarse. "No need," she said lazily. "I'm taking Ting Ting back to my place. You can go back to your dorm."
Han Lie's heart stirred, and he asked softly, "How's your chat with her going?"
Pan Ge slapped Xi Luting, who was feigning sleep, and sneered, "We haven't talked yet. We'll see later."
Xi Luting groaned but didn't respond, continuing to play dead.
Han Lie heard it but pretended not to, focusing on coaxing Pan Ge.
"Then rest well after you get back. You can tell me anything directly, don't keep it to yourself. I'm not as clever as you; I can't guess things like that."
Pan Ge sneered, "Can you guess how angry I am?"
Han Lie laughed. "That's why you should rest well. I'm waiting for your revenge. Now that you're officially my girlfriend, whatever revenge it is, I'll take it."
"Fine, you just wait!"
Pan Ge sharply hung up the phone, then grabbed Xi Luting and pinched her hard.
"Stop feigning sleep, let's talk!"
Xi Luting shot up, her eyes slightly red, her teeth clenched. "I have nothing to talk about with you two!"
Her attitude was fierce, but Pan Ge remained calm.
"No, there's a lot to talk about. You might not admit it, but you can't fool me, and you certainly can't fool yourself."
Xi Luting, flustered and exasperated, snapped, "Are you insane?"
"The feeling's mutual," Pan Ge countered coolly. "If you hadn't suddenly had that meltdown, things wouldn't have ended up like this. You dragged me into this; you should feel guilty."
"Guilty, my ass!" Xi Luting cursed furiously, pushing Pan Ge down and swinging her arm back.
SLAP! SLAP! SLAP!
Three hard slaps in quick succession. It felt incredibly satisfying, yet her anger wasn't fully vented.
"If you hadn't tricked me into coming out, would this have happened?! I was trying so hard to avoid any contact with Han Lie! I'd finally managed to find some peace after all this time, and you ruined everything!"
Pan Ge had been hit hard, and it stung, but she didn't resist.
Instead, she sneered back, "Avoiding him? Do you truly want to leave Han Lie? You were just playing hard to get, putting on an act to make Han Lie value you more!"
"What nonsense are you spouting?!" Xi Luting panicked.
"Whether I'm spouting nonsense or not, you know in your heart." Pan Ge brushed Xi Luting's hand away, her smile growing more scornful.
"Dare you say you didn't know Han Lie has been with me often lately? Yu Yun and Fang Feifei have seen it more than once. You've seen it with your own eyes, haven't you?
If you truly wanted to stay away from Han Lie, you would have kept your distance from me too!
When I asked you out today, you came immediately, no questions asked. What, did you not expect to run into Han Lie? Or were you secretly hoping to bump into that bastard so you could play your 'Ice Queen' act for him?"
"You..." Xi Luting was at a loss for words, her expression one of extreme shame as she panted heavily.
But she didn't continue to argue.
This Pan Ge was too clever, frighteningly so. She was all schemes and shrewdness.
Lying to her was clearly a thankless task.
Xi Luting forced herself to steady her breathing, then exhaled deeply.
