Inside the Abyss, the low-class Heavenly Demons seemed almost infinite.

Even the faintest light could not penetrate, but Shen Mo and the others all possessed exceptional strength, so this environment did not affect their five senses.

The rolling murk of the Demonic Qi was unending, and the roars of the demons were like a tsunami, causing a loud humming within Shen Mo's ears.

"Universal Blade Net!"

The Demon Slaying Sword swung, spreading dazzling Sword Light and pulverizing the swarm of low-class Heavenly Demons.

If they were all Class II Heavenly Demons, things might have been somewhat troublesome. However, there weren't many Class II demons among them; about eighty to ninety percent were Class I. Compared to Body Tempering Realm cultivators, their strength was not particularly formidable. The Blade Net's sword Qi swept over, leaving only scattered Heavenly Demon fragments on the ground.

The other four also had their own devastating techniques!

Shentu Gui held a regulator. He pointed it towards the sky, and without any flicker of spirit light, a large number of Heavenly Demons plunged headfirst to the ground, silenced instantly.

Tian Qisheng's profound level, top-grade iron spear had been broken by Shen Mo's sword in a previous fight. He now wielded another spear of the same grade. Its tip shone brightly, and his sweeping thrusts were deadly against the Heavenly Demons.

Wei Ye of Gold Toad Tower still relied heavily on the toad-shaped magic artifact in his hands. With each opening and closing of the toad's mouth, it spat out gales that pulverized the overwhelming swarms of Heavenly Demons before him.

Jiang Sheng of the Thriving Gold Sect couldn't use his Heaven-Holding Giant Palm technique here, so he took out a handful of ordinary copper coins. Empowered by his Mana, True Yuan, and magic techniques, each scattered coin pierced through large numbers of Heavenly Demons.

If they were in an open field with no obstructions, these Heavenly Demons would scatter, and the four of them wouldn't be able to kill so many. But now, packed together, a single powerful attack could take down a large swath of them!

Compared to cultivators or even demonic beasts, these primal low-class Heavenly Demons actually had quite limited abilities.

"The Heavenly Demon Realm lacks materials for setting up formations," Tian Qisheng said, thrusting his spear hard against the rock wall. "After Demon-corrupting a large number of cultivators and obtaining their memories and expertise in the Array Path... the powerful demon heads among them devised a sinister method. They use the demonic primality of low-class demon heads to Corrupt earth and stone, then use these as materials to construct formations and lay down Prohibitions!"

With his Spirit Sea Realm strength, a single strike from him could shatter a small mountain. This time, however, he only managed to gouge out a millstone-sized chunk from the Corrupted rock!

Although Shen Mo had his disagreements with Tian Qisheng, he didn't doubt his words. After all, Tian Qisheng hailed from the Tian Clan, an immortal family with a legacy of over five hundred years, and he was also an Elder of Rising Sun Peak. His knowledge was quite extensive.

Sacrificing their own low-class kin to Corrupt earth and stone... truly the way of Heavenly Demons! While Shen Mo inwardly felt a grudging 'admiration,' he also gained a new understanding of the Heavenly Demons' various methods.

Such tyrannical demonic primality! Not only can it Demon-corrupt other creatures, but it can even Corrupt ordinary earth and stone... What kind of world could possibly give birth to such beings?

The group continued deeper.

Suddenly, the entire demonic cave began to shake violently. An abrupt change occurred. The rock walls seemed to come alive, slowly beginning to press in on Shen Mo and the others.

Shen Mo swung the Demon Slaying Sword. Dazzling streams of sword Qi slashed into the rock faces, sending shattered stone flying as he pulverized the encroaching walls. When he turned to look for Shentu Gui and the others, he was shocked to find they had vanished.

The formation in this demonic cave actually has the power to teleport and disorient! Shen Mo instantly knew that the vast formation meticulously constructed by the Heavenly Demons had activated. Its purpose was to separate the five of them and then eliminate them one by one!

This was difficult to counter. The demonic cave was extremely vast and deep. Without finding the array core, even if they destroyed everything in their path, they couldn't break the formation permeating the cave. To find the spatial rift, they had to risk venturing deeper.

Fortunately, before entering, each of them had received a Grade IV Feather Transformation Charm from Shentu Gui. If they encountered fatal danger, they just needed to activate the talisman, and it would instantly transport them a hundred miles away, back outside the Abyss!

This Feather Transformation Charm is quite useful. If I can find the talisman scroll for it, I should definitely refine more. They'd be useful for myself and as gifts for friends and family. Shen Mo felt the talisman hidden in his sleeve, pondering silently. Then, he gripped his sword and continued deeper.

A vicious, gleaming blade light suddenly slashed towards Shen Mo. His five senses were being suppressed by the formation; another cultivator might not have detected this attack. However, Shen Mo possessed the [Chanjue] Destiny. Warned by [Chanjue], he had sensed the danger three breaths in advance. The River Opening Sword Qi, which he had held ready, slashed out in response.

CLANG!

With the resounding clash of metal on metal, the ghost-headed saber was parried. The middle-aged Heavenly Demon that had ambushed Shen Mo was forced back by the sword Qi, compelling it to reveal its form.

At the same time, 'Fairy Pei Yu,' clad in silver flame armor and wielding a silver spear, emerged from behind a rock wall. The elderly-looking Heavenly Demon, however, was nowhere to be seen. It had previously stated that it was not skilled in combat… It seemed its original body, before being Demon-corrupted, might have belonged to a cultivator proficient in the Array Path. Its current absence was likely because it was maintaining and controlling the formation within the demonic cave!

"'Only the two of you demon heads?'" A glint flashed in Shen Mo's eyes. He seemed to be addressing the two demon heads before him, yet also muttering to himself. "'It seems there aren't many Class III powerhouses among your kind after all!'"

All Native Heavenly Demons, no matter how high their Realm, can only reach the peak of Class II. Without Demon-corrupting other creatures, they cannot continue to increase their strength, no matter how much life essence they devour. And every Class III demon head in the Heavenly Demon Realm is, without exception, a mutated Heavenly Demon. They are either Demon-corrupted cultivators, Demon-corrupted demonic beasts, Demon-corrupted Soul Ghosts, or other Demon-corrupted creatures...

The strange thing was, when the demon disaster first showed signs a hundred years ago, there were already Class III and even Class IV Heavenly Demons within the Demon Tide. Therefore, the cultivation world speculated that the Heavenly Demon Realm might have invaded more than just the Red Flame Country!

Now, seeing only these two demon heads, Shen Mo guessed that no other Class III Heavenly Demons had crossed over from their realm to reinforce them.

"'Killing you is more than enough!'" the middle-aged Heavenly Demon spat coldly. Perhaps its original human self had been cold and taciturn.

A smile touched the lips of the Pei Yu Heavenly Demon, her expression and tone playful. "'If you surrender willingly,' she said, 'we can allow you to join our ranks.'"

"'Just open your body and mind, and allow our kin to Demon-corrupt you.'"

"'You'll retain your soul and memories, and you'll be able to grow stronger by devouring other creatures. Isn't that wonderful?'"
