Peerless Immortal Emperor in City

Chapter 252: Beijing University Not Bad

"Oh my! You two, why do you always have to mention being admitted to Zhejiang University and Fudan University wherever you go?" Xia Shuang glanced at the back row and said, "It's as if you're afraid no one knows. Though, I'm quite curious too..."

She turned her head towards Qin Heng and smiled. "Qin Heng, which university were you admitted to? Is it in Beijing? Qingqing and I are both going to Beijing."

Xia Shuang's question held no malice; she was purely curious. At most, she wondered if Qin Heng was also going to Beijing and if there might be a chance for further interaction. She wasn't truly motivated by a love for money, just showing a slight inclination towards it. It was perfectly normal for any girl to develop a liking for a tall, handsome, and wealthy young man like Qin Heng; nothing could be more natural.

"It's tough to get into a Beijing university," Wen Du said with a smile. "Even though Tianhai's college entrance exam score threshold isn't high, it's not exactly low either. It's much harder to get into a university in Beijing than a local one in Tianhai."

"That's right," Fang Quan added with a smile. "Let me guess, you must have gotten into a local university in Tianhai, right? That's easier, not as difficult as going to Beijing."

The two were openly and covertly mocking Qin Heng. They implied his academic achievements were poor, believing he couldn't possibly be admitted to a university in Beijing and was only relying on his local advantage to apply to some local institutions in Tianhai.

"The university that admitted me is alright, I guess. As for which one, I'd rather not say," Qin Heng said with a light chuckle, not wanting to reveal it and deflate Wen Du and Fang Quan.

However, his attitude only made Wen Du and Fang Quan more certain of their assumptions. Their eyes gleamed, and their smiles widened.

Rich kids like him are definitely just academic slackers!

There's no way he could have been admitted to a top-tier university in the country. In that respect, we've definitely got him crushed!

Wen Du and Fang Quan regained their confidence.

"If a wealthy young master like you says it's 'alright,' then it must be a pretty good school," Fang Quan snickered. "Aside from the Project 211 and Project 985 universities, others can't really be considered 'alright.' So, tell us, which university is it?"

"There aren't many Project 211 and Project 985 universities in Tianhai. Let me take a guess, how about that?" Wen Du's eyes narrowed slightly. "Tianhai University, Tianhai Jiaotong University, Donghua Normal University? Or maybe Fudan University, like you, Fang Quan?"

By now, both of them were inwardly ecstatic. Of course, they didn't actually believe Qin Heng had been admitted to any of these prestigious universities. Wen Du and Fang Quan were trying to set Qin Heng up for a fall! In their eyes, since Qin Heng didn't dare reveal which university he'd been admitted to, it must be a rather poor institution, a common second-tier university at best, which was why he was reluctant to say.

Now, by deliberately teasing Qin Heng about getting into a prominent Project 211 or Project 985 university, they were putting him on a pedestal! When the truth about his actual university was revealed, Qin Heng would come crashing down, suffering a hard fall and complete humiliation! At that point, both Xia Shuang's and Wu Yuqing's impression of this Qin Heng would surely plummet!

In modern society, money is certainly important. However, among students, academic performance and the prestige of one's school—be it top-tier or subpar—still significantly contribute to a sense of superiority. After this round of building him up only to tear him down, revealing that Qin Heng was just attending an ordinary second-tier university would undoubtedly leave Wu Yuqing and Xia Shuang greatly disappointed.

If we can just make him fall hard, he probably won't have the nerve to stay here any longer. That'll be our chance to make a move! Wen Du and Fang Quan exchanged a knowing glance.

This was the perfect plan!

As soon as Qin Heng leaves, our opportunity will arise!

The alluring figures of Wu Yuqing and Xia Shuang, their beautiful faces and stunning bodies, flashed through their minds. They couldn't help but get excited as their imaginations ran wild.

"Come on, tell us. Everyone's really curious," Fang Quan said with a smile. "It's just the name of a university; it's no big deal."

"Yeah, everyone's really curious," Wen Du chimed in, also smiling. "We might all hang out together in the next few days. If we know each other's universities, it'll be easier to stay in touch later on."

Listening to Wen Du and Fang Quan, Xia Shuang frowned slightly and looked at Qin Heng, a seed of doubt sprouting in her heart. Why wouldn't Qin Heng say which university he'd been admitted to? Could it be that it wasn't a good school?

"Young Master Qin, which university are you attending?" Xia Shuang finally couldn't contain her curiosity any longer. "Come on, tell us. Which university?"

"You don't need to ask anymore," Wu Yuqing suddenly spoke up. "Qin Heng isn't telling you because he's afraid of crushing your confidence. My cousin already told me on the phone which university he's going to."

"Ah! Qingqing, so you already knew!" Xia Shuang exclaimed, her face alight with curiosity.

"Yuqing, you know?" Fang Quan's face showed a hint of anticipation and a slight, smug smile.

"Yuqing, hurry up and tell us, which university is our esteemed Young Master Qin going to?" Wen Du said with a smile. "Please don't let it be some ordinary second-tier college, haha." He finished with a teasing tone, feigning a joke while revealing his true thoughts.

"Qin Heng is going to Beijing University," Wu Yuqing said calmly, a faint, unreadable smile playing on her lips.

"Hahaha! Beijing University! So it's *that* kind of second-tier school! Young Master Qin, you really are..." Fang Quan began to mock openly, not even fully processing what Wu Yuqing had said. But then, he quickly realized something was terribly wrong.

The smile on his face froze. He tried to stand up in disbelief.

BANG!

Fang Quan's head slammed into the car roof, which sent him recoiling back into his seat. His expression was one of utter shock as he stared blankly ahead, muttering, "Bei—Beijing University!? How is that possible? How can that be! It's impossible!!" He shook his head repeatedly, completely unwilling to believe Wu Yuqing's words.

"Yuqing, you—you're not joking, are you? He—he got accepted by Beijing University!?" Wen Du was dumbfounded, staring at Qin Heng in utter shock, feeling as if his entire worldview was shattering.

Damn! Aren't all rich kids supposed to be slackers and underachievers? Why would a tall, handsome, and wealthy young master like you still want to go to Beijing University?!

Fang Quan and Wen Du suddenly felt their composure crumble. They had been so sure of their victory. Now, they had been utterly humiliated, failing to show off and getting slapped in the face yet again! And what was worse, they had practically offered their faces up to be slapped!

So embarrassing! It was just too embarrassing!

Xia Shuang, however, hadn't noticed the two in the backseat. Her gaze, fixed on Qin Heng, was once again filled with awe and admiration. Her pretty face flushed red. She cupped her cheeks, watching Qin Heng dreamily.

"Wow! You really are... the perfect idol! Absolutely perfect!!"

Hearing Xia Shuang's words of admiration for Qin Heng, Fang Quan felt a chill creep into his heart. He suddenly leaned forward, pointing at Qin Heng. "No! It's impossible for you to be accepted by Beijing University! I don't believe it!! If you really got accepted by Beijing University, why didn't you say so from the beginning? You even said the university you got into was just 'alright'! Is Beijing University just 'alright' in your eyes!?"

Qin Heng couldn't be bothered with him. He simply pointed out the window and said, "See for yourself. This is my high school."

They were just passing Tianhai No.1 Middle School.

Wen Du and Fang Quan looked out the window, and their faces instantly turned deathly pale. At the entrance of Tianhai No.1 Middle School, several red banners were hung, all of them congratulating students admitted to top national universities.

The largest and most conspicuous one read: "Congratulations to Qin Heng, Senior Year, Class 2, on his admission to Beijing University!!"
