Chapter 111: Easy

"White Ancestor, should I honor you?" Richard asked in response after hearing the origins of the white crow.

Hearing his words, Olivia nearly jumped in shock.

"Ehmm! Cough!" She pretended to cough and clear her throat.

"White Ancestor, Richard is still just a child, don't take his words too seriously," Olivia said, worried that Richard's remark might anger the white crow.

In truth, the crow's feathers almost bristled, showing that even it could not remain calm at Richard's words.

But since Olivia spoke, the crow restrained its anger, observing Richard, who was still young, realizing he was far too small to understand such things.

"Boy, you may be young, yet you've already reached the Life Aether Realm. But don't think you're great. I have lived long enough, survived through many eras, and seen children with similar achievements due to a bit of luck, but in the end, they were nothing special," the crow said.

Richard's achievement was considered phenomenal within the Holy Star Kingdom, but because the crow had lived for countless years and likely roamed the world multiple times, it wasn't surprising that he wasn't impressed.

However, the crow was wrong about one thing.

The fortune that brought Richard to his current level was of an entirely different kind.

Richard merely nodded, pretending to agree without saying anything.

The only thing he was waiting for was the trial to obtain the inheritance—nothing more.

"Alright, boy, since you've come here, you must want to take the clan trial to obtain the reward," the white crow continued, and Richard nodded again.

He was extremely curious about what kind of trial it would be.

Would it be a battle?

Or some other kind of test?

"The trial is to see the foundation of your strength, and the easiest way to gauge it is your speed in absorbing Aether," the White Crow said, making Richard's eyes light up.

Just absorbing Aether?

He knew how fast he was at absorbing Aether. Even after advancing to the Life Aether Realm, which meant the process was slightly more complicated—since it required not only absorbing Aether but also transforming it into Life Aether—he was still confident that the time it took him to gather a hundred Aether was the same as when he had been in the Aether Will Realm.

"Will it be right here?" Richard asked.

"Yes, the time limit is one hour. And just so you know, this place is very unique. It can measure exactly how much Aether you absorb and display the number," the crow replied.

One of its wings flapped, and suddenly, an energy screen appeared, displaying the number 0.

"And the Aether here isn't plentiful—less than twenty remain, all of them Tier 3 Aether. They possess a uniqueness you cannot imagine," the crow continued.

"Uniqueness?" Richard wasn't sure what the crow meant.

"Every 1 Aether you absorb will transform into 1000 Aether within your body. Let me tell you, this is a bonus granted to Skylight Clan members during the trial. The more you absorb, the more you will obtain."

"What?" Richard was beyond shocked.

Absorbing just one Aether, yet it would become a thousand inside his body? How could something so absurd exist?

This sounded even more ridiculous than nonsense.

"Richard, this is High Pure Aether, something extremely rare. Only Ancient Sovereigns are capable of acquiring it. The Skylight Clan had an Ancient Sovereign who was tasked with collecting Sky Aether to be distributed to the younger generation," Olivia explained.

"Ohh..." Richard couldn't help but be awed, realizing how terrifying the Skylight Clan truly was.

Who knew how many of its members had reached the Ancient Sovereign Realm, if one could be specifically assigned such a duty?

Richard immediately sat down, preparing to absorb the Aether.

Within one hour, if he gave it his all, he was confident he could absorb at least ten Aether.

A little more than five minutes later, the number on the screen shifted from 0 to 1.

"What?" Both Olivia and the white crow were stunned.

Olivia herself had only managed to absorb three Aether in one hour—one Aether every twenty minutes.

And that was only because she had made preparations using special means that temporarily enhanced her absorption speed.

Richard relied on nothing—just normal absorption—yet the results were clear.

Ten minutes later, the number changed to 2, proving it wasn't mere luck.

"Where did this boy come from?" the White Crow muttered in disbelief.

Minute after minute passed. Every five minutes, Richard truly absorbed one Aether.

By the 55th minute, he had already absorbed eleven Aether.

Now he was focused on absorbing the twelfth before the 60 minutes ran out.

By pushing himself to the limit, he naturally succeeded.

Twelve Aether.

He opened his eyes, looking at his status, for he could truly feel the immense surge of power as each Aether shattered into a thousand and fused directly into his body.

[Aether: 12,040/20,000 <Tier 3>] +12,000

[Aether Accumulation: 27,040 <Tier 3>]

Seeing the numbers appear, Richard felt like dancing and shouting.

Jackpot—that was all he could say.

How could such an opportunity to gather so much Aether exist in just one hour?

Of course, he still wanted to keep absorbing, but he realized he had lost connection with the remaining Aether around him.

He looked toward the White Crow, who was still dumbfounded.

"Ehmm..." Richard cleared his throat.

"So, how did I do in my trial?" he asked.

If he didn't speak, he thought the crow would remain stunned forever.

"Emm, yes... You exceeded the minimum requirement to receive the highest grade," the crow replied spontaneously.

Olivia's mouth fell open upon hearing this, while Richard simply considered it within his expectations.

In the end, such a trial was far too simple for him.

"What will I receive?" Richard asked.

"Many things..." the crow answered.

"First, you will inherit the Skylight Sword, the finest weapon crafted by your first ancestor after becoming a Grand Sovereign. Two others who have wielded that sword were also Grand Sovereigns of the Skylight Clan."

At the crow's words, Richard blinked.

A Grand Weapon.

The most powerful type of weapon in existence.

The reason why most descendants of Grand Sovereigns survived through countless eras was the Grand Weapons they inherited.

Each of these weapons was far too powerful.

Of course, only Rulers could wield them—Rulers with solid foundations—or they would be destroyed by the very Grand Weapon they tried to use.

But even for the weaker ones, Grand Weapons were the best tools to learn about the power of the Grand Sovereigns, to glimpse the might of World Magic Aether.
