"I believe you came here to deliver a message. Do so and leave. I haven't disrespected you yet, but I will not be bowing my head to you."
Dorian's voice echoed through the entire place.
Ishtar, still kneeling on the ground, was shocked to hear those words leave Dorian's mouth.
Maria and the rest had the same expression, their gazes moving from the angered look on the messenger's face to the calm expression on Dorian's.
Behind the messenger, the maid stared at Dorian with an air of authority.
Every single minute that passed, it seemed like she was reading and judging everything he did.
The silence hung in the air for a while, until finally, the royal messenger uttered,
"Rest assured, the king will hear about this. If you think you won't be punished for your disrespect, you have another thing coming."
Dorian stared back at him. "Should I take this as you threatening me?" he asked back, showing not even a single hint of fear or guilt.
This left the girls speechless. They knew how powerful the king's messenger's opinion is to the king.
So, for Dorian to actively be enraging the royal messenger was truly jaw-dropping.
Even more shocking was the fact the messenger hadn't ordered the knights to arrest Dorian.
Both of them stared at each other for a while longer, their gazes each passing information only understood by them alone.
Once they had gotten it out of their system, the royal messenger spoke yet again.
"The king will hear of this. But until then, I shall deliver the news I was sent to deliver."
Flipping the scroll of paper in his hand aggressively, he finally spread it open and held it before his eyes to read.
Dorian went silent, waiting to see what the messenger had brought for him.
As he waited, he could tell the maid was seriously dodging him. He didn't know why, so he just ignored her for the time being.
The royal messenger cleared his throat.
"Good day, dear Aurelian. This is a message directly from I, the king of Lumberg kingdom. News about your doings has gotten to my ears, and I would like to meet the man behind all these actions and achievements. First, I heard you found a rare dragon iron ores mine.
Then, I heard you managed to find a dragon in your midst. And now, I hear you saved elves from trafficking—or I may be wrong, which is why I would like to hear it from you directly.
As king, I ask that you join me at the Royal Palace for a talk between you and me."
Upon hearing the message, a huge gasp echoed from the ladies standing behind Dorian.
Of course, Dorian had already told them that there was a chance something like this would happen.
If news of everything that had been happening got to the king, then there was no way he wouldn't ask to see Dorian and question him.
Sigh.
Dorian shook his head. "Figures as much. Do let the king know I will be there."
With a frowning face, the royal messenger gently began rolling the paper back. "You are to present yourself before the king as soon as possible. Delay will not be tolerated."
"Sure, whatever you say." Dorian slightly bowed his head, with his other arm pressed to the side of his chest.
Clicking his tongue, the royal messenger turned around and walked away.
The maid immediately followed, giving a final glance at Dorian before looking away.
Still standing there, Dorian watched as the golden carriage moved away, its round wheels rolling on the ground, along with the other multiple horses carrying the knights beside the moving vehicle.
Ishtar, finally relieved, stood up from the ground where she was kneeling and looked at Dorian with her hands on her waist.
"Husband, is there a reason why you chose not to bow to the messenger? If that man presents us as bad people to the king, there is very little chance of us winning the case."
Dorian looked at her back. "You're worried about the wrong thing. What we should truly be worried about is how we are going to make enough profit from visiting the king." He grinned mischievously.
From his response, Seraphina shook her head and chuckled. "I guess this is also an opportunity you are not intending to let go to waste," she uttered calmly. "How long before we set out to the royal capital?"
Dorian turned to her. "The messenger did say to show at the capital as soon as possible, so I guess we should be leaving in about two days' time."
"If that's the case, then I'll go get everything ready for our trip. I wouldn't want us going there just to get lost." Seraphina had an exhausted look as she walked away.
With her gone, Maria decided to speak as well. "Are we going with security?" she asked.
"Going with security will be overkill. There is no reason for us to do too much."
"I see, very well then. I'll go lend a hand to Seraphina. Please excuse me." Maria, too, bowed her head and walked away.
With both gone, Dorian looked to the side. The thought of heading back to the dragon cave to get Ciel crossed his mind, since he would be taking her along with him.
Then again, he also needed to attend to the elves and the criminals he had already captured.
If he was going to get his story straight, he needed answers as well.
'I guess Jordan is working on the interrogation, so I should just be expecting news soon if anything.'
Before he knew it, Ishtar was right in front of him, holding both his hands to her chest. "You shouldn't push yourself so hard. You have many people around you now; just tell them what to do, and they'll do it, easy as that."
Dorian had to lean back a bit from her face being so close. "I am not stressing myself, so you don't have to-"
"Yes, I insist." Ishtar pulled even closer. "How can I live with myself if my husband has to face so much stress by himself and I can't do anything about it?"
Dorian chuckled nervously. He could tell Ishtar had something planned and all this was just an act leading to it. Just as he expected, her next words confirmed it.
"Let's head to your room. I have something important to discuss with you." Ishtar now had her boobs pressing against his chest.
Yelena was watching from behind with her cheeks puffed in jealousy. But after she could no longer bear to watch, she finally decided to walk away.
With her gone, Ishtar glanced at Yelena for a while before stepping away from Dorian and flicking her hair to the back. "Good, she's gone," she sighed out loud.
"You did that on purpose?" Dorian carried a deadpanned expression as he asked.
"Yes, don't say that like I'm some troublemaker. My reason for doing this is partially linked to what I want to discuss with you. The sooner we do it, the better."
Before Dorian could give a response, Ishtar grabbed him by the hand, a wide smile on her face. "Let's go, not a single second should be wasted."
Dorian could only give a silent smile, knowing he could not stop her, not when she had this much excitement written on her face.
…
Inside Dorian's room...
"You said you wanted to talk," Dorian uttered, his back pressed against the soft bed.
"Yes, I did." That was Ishtar, towering above him with her butt pressed and resting on Dorian's crotch. Her face was so close to his that Dorian could feel her blonde hair touching the side of his face.
The predatory gaze on Ishtar's face as well was not something anyone could ignore. It felt as though she wanted to eat him up right then and there.
"Of course, this was just another trap of yours. I figured as much," said Dorian as he sighed inwardly.
"Oh, please don't look at me like that. Is it so wrong that I want to spend some time with my soon-to-be husband? You knew what you were getting into when you chose to engage me."
"Did I?"
"Of course. Normally, I would be very professional when doing stuff like this. But I knew you went out with Maria and Seraphina, and I know you did a few things, because Seraphina didn't miss the chance to rub it in my face."
Dorian simply listened. That sounded like something she would do anyway.
Ishtar then licked her lips seductively as she further lowered her face towards Dorian. "And now you are heading to the capital to see the queen. I am afraid this is a gamble I can't afford to take. Which means, I want you to take my virginity, right now."
"..."
"Just in case you plan to leave me for the queen as well, I also want to bear your child. I mentioned this before, did I not? I want to be the one to carry your child. Let's do it."
"Aren't you jumping to conclusions here? How did you know I'm seeing the queen when the king was the one who summoned me?"
"Another thing we are going to discuss, but only after you have bred me." Ishtar lowered her head and slightly bit Dorian's lip. "I do hope you'll handle me with care."
