As the eldest young lady of the suburban Phosphorus Fire Gang, Xia Ling had resources beyond compare. Even the resources that the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall provided to the Defense Corps, like the meat from Middle Tier monsters and the allotted Type Two Potions, were not difficult for the Phosphorus Fire Gang to acquire.
After all, there were more monsters in the wild now, and the major forces could obtain a lot more monster flesh. Especially the meat of Middle Tier monsters, which was shipped back from the front lines by the dozens of carloads, making monster meat in the market much cheaper and no longer in short supply.
If it weren't for the limited external teaching of the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall, where they would internally teach some Training Techniques and High-tier Martial Techniques to the town's Martial Artists for free, joining the Defense Corps would have been beneath Xia Ling.
"Alright then." Lin Qi nodded and further instructed, "The Martial Arts Hall has set up a new Meditation Room that can accommodate ten people at a time for cultivation. You can select the ten best-performing individuals from the Defense Corps each day to cultivate there for six hours. The remaining time can be managed as a reward for others in the Defense Corps."
"Meditation Room?" Meng Wei looked puzzled, not understanding what the Meditation Room was, but he agreed, "I understand. I'll arrange it for them."
With that, Meng Wei ended the call and began training the personnel of the Defense Corps.
"Given the current scale of the Defense Corps, and the players' demands, one Basic Meditation Room is far from enough. It seems necessary to have players collect more Molten Fire Crystals."
Lin Qi looked at the list of Defense Corps personnel sent by Meng Wei; the first batch alone exceeded two hundred people, and more would join soon. The demand for Basic Meditation Rooms would surely increase. He then issued a long-term task via the smart watch.
Collect Molten Fire Crystals: for every 10,000 units, the Martial Arts Hall will reward you with 100,000 Points and 10,000 Contribution.
The task announcement excited many new players.
To newcomer players, despite not knowing what Molten Fire Crystals were, the 10,000 Contribution offered a fortune. Even some veteran players were tempted, as this task's contribution reward was the highest ever released by the Martial Arts Hall.
With each task yielding 10,000 Contribution, completing 50 tasks would amount to 500,000 Contribution, allowing even non-martial artists unable to undertake the Core Disciple assessments to become Core Disciples directly.
This prompted veteran players, who were quite some way from becoming martial artists, to begin inquiring and investigating what Molten Fire Crystals were and where they could be found.
Despite a day of inquiries from all players, no particularly useful information was uncovered. The only known fact was that Molten Fire Crystals came from a task completed by Lu Fanchen and others, leaving everyone to speculate that the crystals must be somewhere underground at the Martial Arts Hall.
Many players hence resumed their lives of tunneling and exploring underground.
As time flew by, within two days, more and more martial artist players emerged from the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall. Each, upon becoming martial artist players, began challenging themselves with Core Disciple assessments, much to Lin Qi's satisfaction, as the schedule for repairing Defense Corps' battle armor drew closer.
Only the martial artist players participating in the assessment, upon venturing into the Wilderness, truly realized how challenging the assessment was.
Even experts like Lu Fanchen and others fared no better, barely surviving within fifty kilometers into the Wilderness, failing to return alive. Clearly, this wasn't an environment a mere martial artist could navigate freely, leading many of them to abandon the attempt and obediently take on tasks. Yet, inexplicably, the trio of Lu Fanchen tirelessly ventured into the Wilderness repeatedly.
Above the Wilderness.
"Fanchen, up ahead should be the wounded Lord Monster. Are you going in, or should we?" Lin Xinyao in the grass stared at the pale golden bloodstains on the ground, licking her lips with a glint of excitement in her beautiful eyes.
"I'll go. I'm already a Middle Tier martial artist, so after absorbing a bit more energy, you two should also be able to breakthrough to become Middle Tier martial artists," Lu Fanchen said decisively.
"Then it's in your hands," Lin Xinyao nodded.
"Don't worry, I'll give it a massive strike this time," Lu Fanchen said, crawling forward with a smile.
While Lin Xinyao and Li Tianxing stayed where they were, quietly watching Lu Fanchen disappear into the distance.
In the past few days since entering the Wilderness, though they confirmed the dangers it held, not managing to venture deeper than fifty kilometers—much less a hundred—was life-threatening. Everywhere they turned, herds comprising hundreds of Middle Tier monsters were present, occasionally even led by High Tier monsters. It wasn't just the three of them; even a group of thirty would be fodder.
It was a realization that the assessment was virtually impossible for humans to pass.
Initially on the verge of giving up, they soon discovered an isolated monster, over twenty meters tall, appearing as a black panther with two horns on its head and a chilling aura. Its natural blood Qi release made it difficult for them to approach.
However, for unknown reasons, the dual-horned panther was injured. Such an opportunity—an injured BOSS in the wild—was something the trio of seasoned gamers couldn't pass up.
Missing this chance to finish it off would be a waste!
Without hesitation, Lu Fanchen charged a Heaven-Shaking Fist punch at the wounded dual-horned panther. The punch sent the panther into an agonized scream, with pale golden blood spurting from its wound like a fountain.
