Abyss Sequence

Chapter 55: The Plan Begins

"Did you say Professor Li allowed you to move freely?"

Upon hearing Sasa's explanation, Yan Luo raised his head in surprise.

Sasa certainly didn't possess the ability to protect herself in the Abyss, so there was no way she could move freely alone.

Given that, Li Jiongming must have guessed that he was hiding at Sasa's place.

Though he didn't know where the flaw was, Yan Luo felt that Li Jiongming was reminding him.

After a moment of silence, Yan Luo said, "Professor Li wants me to follow you into the Abyss while also reminding you and me."

He managed to slip past the checkpoint, so naturally, he could skip its surveillance again to enter the Abyss.

Sasa nodded, agreeing with Yan Luo's statement.

Professor Li Jiongming was extraordinarily wise and quite elderly, having experienced more things than they had meals, capable of deducing where Yan Luo was hiding just from bits of evidence.

Of course, his deductions were also partly because he didn't know Yan Luo had a seal that could open space passages.

Within Crimson No.2, very few people were trustworthy to Yan Luo; given his disposition, hiding at Sasa's place was the most likely.

Others could guess too, but Li Jiongming lived in the dormitory block and could detect some traces quicker than others, thus early on warning Sasa and Yan Luo to be cautious and avoid getting caught.

After some thought, Yan Luo took out the stone beast core from the space box.

When exposed to the air once more, the stone beast core began gathering dust again.

Yan Luo slapped the dust away and handed it to Sasa, "Give this to Professor Li; consider it my gift of gratitude to him."

Sasa immediately recognized what it was and gasped softly, "An elemental demon core? This thing looks like a stone beast core... Did you get it in the Elf World?"

Elemental demons were one of the few that could be directly researched, as even if their shell was damaged, as long as the core remained, they were essentially still alive.

Breaking the core to a certain extent didn't count as killing them; only damaging over half of the core constituted complete death.

According to Yan Luo's previous statements, the animals he killed in the Elf World left behind bodies. This core likely operated under similar mechanics, allowing it to be preserved even if over half of it was damaged.

This would be greatly beneficial to research on elemental demons, at least for the 'stone beast' kind.

Sasa took the core from Yan Luo and left the room to find Li Jiongming, delivering the gratitude gift and accurately informing him the core wouldn't vanish even if more than half of it was damaged.

Upon hearing Sasa's explanation, Li Jiongming raised an eyebrow involuntarily.

"Seems you both have quite a few secrets!" After remarking, Li Jiongming accepted the gift.

He wasn't concerned about where Yan Luo had obtained the item and knew about the core's resilience beyond half damage.

With age comes the wisdom to know when to remain ignorant.

Lingquan University's scholars were set to depart for the Abyss in three days; Yan Luo certainly wouldn't wait until then to sneak in.

He thought perhaps he could use this opportunity to help Wu Zechuan again.

Yan Luo shared his idea with Sasa, who quickly inferred his intention.

"You plan to let the news of you entering the Abyss slip out?"

Yan Luo nodded, apologetically saying, "If we do this, it might implicate you."

If the news got out, Sasa would definitely be closely monitored, even dragged to the police station for questioning.

Moreover, with a man and woman alone in a room, the gossip wouldn't bode well for Sasa's reputation.

Sasa squinted, grinning, "Do you think Wu Zechuan can't catch the hidden Abyssal Believers within the police within three days?"

Three days later, they were to enter the Abyss; if Sasa couldn't clear suspicion within those days, she couldn't follow in.

For Sasa, this Abyss expedition was a valuable research opportunity concerning her future development.

Yan Luo was surprised, "You're agreeing to it?"

Sasa nodded, "Only by swiftly removing suspicion can I expedite your release from the wanted list. My research is closely linked with you, and afterward, you'll certainly compensate me generously, won't you?"

Spending considerable time with Yan Luo, Sasa now understood him well; his behavior was straightforward and simple.

Upon hearing this, Yan Luo nodded heavily.

"The Yan Family repays both grudges and favors; that's what my father taught me."

Sasa chuckled, "That's settled then, isn't it? Comparing my contributions to the amazing returns I'll receive later, why wouldn't I do it?"

Having decided to let the news of Yan Luo hiding at Sasa's dorm leak, the two began thorough planning and contacted Wu Zechuan to inform him of their actions and prepare for coordination.

Even Wu Zechuan couldn't help but marvel at their boldness upon learning of Yan Luo and Sasa's plans.

Yet he had to admit it was a good strategy to expose the Abyssal Believers faster.

After devising the plan, Sasa went out and knocked on the neighboring room's door.

Among all the students and teachers, Zhang Xiaofang was the one Sasa could trust most; she was sure to help.

Indeed, that was the case.

Zhang Xiaofang was startled upon hearing Sasa and Yan Luo's plan, especially after Sasa mentioned her contribution to the idea, Zhang Xiaofang fell silent.

She could perceive Sasa's desire to clear Yan Luo's name and seek sponsorship from him.

After all, Yan Luo was genuinely wealthy; among Sequence Three Hunters and below, Yan Luo probably had the most earning potential.

With Yan Luo's sponsorship, many experiments Sasa hadn't dared dream of could be pursued, purchasing numerous expensive research equipment.

Thinking of these, Zhang Xiaofang sighed, "Alright, I'll help you... But, what do you want me to do?"

Sasa mysteriously smiled, "Simply inform the police; tell them you believe Yan Luo kidnapped me and are worried for my safety."

But Sasa's demeanor clearly contradicted the idea of Yan Luo kidnapping her; it was more likely she and Yan Luo were 'hand in glove'.

Then the police would undoubtedly come to investigate, and they'd find evidence of a second person living in Sasa's room.

Consequently, Sasa would be fully implicated as Yan Luo's 'accomplice'.

Subsequently, Sasa would certainly be taken for questioning, giving Wu Zechuan the chance to strike and expose the hidden Abyssal Believers among Crimson No. 2's police, while spreading the Abyssal Believers concept to Crimson No. 2's police and Hunters.

Abyssal Believers held significant power within the current order, making it impossible to contend with them as the likes of She Wuyou could evade justice.

To overcome the Abyssal Believers, first this concept needs acknowledging.

Crimson No. 2 suffered deeply from the Abyssal Believers, with the demon surge nine years ago killing two-fifths of Hunters and shattering numerous families.

Therefore, the local residents are likely allies.

Until receiving Wen Chongwu's email, Yan Luo had never heard of Abyssal Believers, showing the United Government's tendency to keep the lid on, stopping Abyssal Believer information from spreading externally, consequently making Crimson No. 2 an informational island; only the Abyssal Believers themselves know they're being fought.

This way, with an entire exploration town of residents as allies and a logistics base, the campaign against Abyssal Believers gets a tremendous boost.

Soon enough, they could even involve Crimson No. 2 residents in trade with the Elf World.

Crimson No. 2 would become their stronghold, the foundation of their cause!

Though unexpected events may arise during execution, if they didn't dare to start, nothing would ever be accomplished.

That night, Yan Luo quietly left Sasa's dorm; by morning, Zhang Xiaofang anxiously reported to the police about Yan Luo possibly hiding in Sasa's room.

The police raided the dormitory but failed to capture Yan Luo, discovering traces of a second person living in Sasa's room.

Analysis indicated, undoubtedly, the 'second person' was indeed Yan Luo!
