Abyss Sequence

Chapter 57: Arrival at the Destination

"Damn it, so many City-breaking Level Demons are gathered here, looks like the magic tide is about to hit!"

The Hunters gathered at the temporary camp whispered to their companions beside them, while their eyes remained fixed on the forest outside the camp.

The temporary camp backed the entrance, so if the magic tide began, the Hunters could abandon the walls and watchtowers and dash into the entrance to return to Blue Star.

[Detected a signal from a team of Hunters, it's Violet Squad, open a breach to the northeast.]

The task of opening the breach had nothing to do with the guards; they were only responsible for defending the temporary camp and dealing with any disobedient Demons that dared to rush forward.

The ones responsible for opening the breach were powerhouses above Sequence Three!

At the watchtower in the northeast corner of the temporary camp, Yin Guangming controlled the dial and turned the huge cannon on the watchtower.

As a Gun Master, Yin Guangming could not only enchant a sniper cannon, but also enable a cannon to have the power to instantly kill dozens of Dangerous-level Demons in one strike.

Yin Guangming slammed his palm onto the operation table, injecting his Magic Power into the large cannon, and shouted, "Yin Guangming is ready, command center, Violet Squad can start charging!"

[Excellent—Violet Squad, we're ready for support, please start your charge immediately!]

"Fire!"

Yin Guangming roared as he saw the group of Demons occupying the northeast side of the temporary camp through the radar of the watchtower, the giant cannon firing a shell.

The shell shot out of the barrel, instantly snapping several towering trees, driving deeply into the Demon group surrounding the temporary camp, paving a path with their bodies and blood.

The solid shell carved out a near kilometer-long, twenty-meter-wide passage in the Demon horde. Seeing the passage opened, Violet Squad immediately started the engine on their armored vehicle and rushed forward quickly.

The passage would not exist for long, the Demons were rallying, trying to close the gap.

Violet Squad could only grit their teeth and charge forward, for their greed in wanting to earn a fortune before the magic tide began.

The Hunters watched with their hearts pounding as the Demons on both sides squeezed towards them. Hidden within the Demon horde, the City-breaking Level Demons also cast their gaze upon them, chilling their hearts for a moment.

Suddenly, the City-breaking Level Demons turned their heads one after another, directing their gaze in the same direction.

[Detected a Hunter's signal, it's... Yan Luo!]

The announcer at the command center also felt a little incredulous.

According to the Glazed Group's Hunters, Yan Luo should have fled to the Illusionary Palace and should have long escaped the Abyss.

If so, why would Yan Luo's signal appear near the Crimson No.2 Entrance?

"Yan Luo?"

Wu Zechuan, presiding over the center, twitched an eyebrow when he heard the name.

"Where is he located?"

[East by north, approximately just behind Violet Squad... what's going on? Why are the City-breaking Level Demons starting to move?!]

Before he could finish, the command center let out another shriek.

The City-breaking Level Demons within the horde shouldn't be active now; typically, they lead the low-level Demons to attack Blue Star when the magic tide begins.

However, according to the probing by perception-based Engravers, those City-breaking Level Demons had already started moving and were all rushing in the same direction.

[Northeast! The City-breaking Level Demons seem to be rushing towards the northeast!]

What's in the northeast?

—Yan Luo!

Wu Zechuan suddenly recalled the report from the Glazed Group.

When the Glazed Group withdrew from the Abyss earlier, they reported to Wu Zechuan, the acting president, that Yan Luo seemed to harbor some secret that could attract City-breaking Level Demons.

Regardless of whether it was the Shadow Wolf or the Earth Giant Elephant, the two City-breaking Level Demons could chase after Yan Luo without interfering with each other.

From this alone, it could be seen that the secret Yan Luo carried must be precious, so much so as to attract City-breaking Level Demons.

Now it appears, the secret Yan Luo carries is astonishing, enough to set all the City-breaking Level Demons surrounding the entrance into motion.

Wu Zechuan turned his hand to take out his Magic Staff, stepped out, appeared above the camp, stood firmly upon the sky.

He cast his eyes toward the northeast, took a deep breath, and raised his Magic Staff.

Seven layers of Engraving bloomed behind him, like pure and beautiful lotus flowers.

"Wind, rage."

As a result, gentle breezes, strong winds, gale-force winds—up to storms appeared within the forest!

The sky-piercing storm swirled within the forest, the airflow forming the storm all turned into blades, slicing through all the affected Demons with Wu Zechuan's will.

Even those City-breaking Level Demons were affected considerably, their deflection shields beginning to flicker uncertainly.

As for those low-level Demons, it need not be mentioned.

Dangerous-level Demons mostly could only hold on for a few seconds, and lethal-level Demons at most could hold on for an extra one or two minutes before being torn into shreds by the airflow as if they were as resilient as the giant trees that could ward off sniper rifle bullets.

Wu Zechuan was only one step away from Second Rank; once he obtained one more Engraving, he could reach the ranks of Second Rank.

Hunters rarely referred to Second Rank powerhouses with the rigid term "Second Rank." Instead, they were more accustomed to calling such powerful figures as—

Calamity!

Second Rank Engravers align with Catastrophe Level Demons, both capable of unleashing disasters and devastating entire areas.

Although Wu Zechuan had not reached Second Rank, he already possessed some of the Catastrophe's might.

Mass casualties arose among the Demons, and the Demon horde besieging the temporary camp suddenly stirred, wanting to launch an attack, but for some reason, did not act.

Others might not understand, but didn't Wu Zechuan comprehend?

The Master of the Abyss was controlling, requiring the Demons to perish on Blue Star, not in the Abyss.

Wu Zechuan snorted coldly, the frenzy within the forest began to dissipate.

Under Wu Zechuan's control, the blade-like air streams did not harm Violet Squad and Yan Luo.

To fully unleash this Magic's power, one must harness the forces of nature, such as replacing an existing typhoon with his own Magic. Not only could it breach a city, but even demolish up to a half of it.

If there was no inherent 'force' at play, casting the Magic would require extra Magic Power.

Blade storm couldn't hurt the City-breaking Level Demons; now all City-breaking Level Demons had their sights set on Yan Luo. Wu Zechuan needed to change his Magic strategy.

At that moment, Wu Zechuan heard an exclamation over the communication channel: [Holy crap! Yan Luo isn't wearing exoskeletons! Nor any vehicles!]

What?

Wu Zechuan was taken aback for a moment, activating the telescopic function of his optics to look at Yan Luo running behind Violet Squad.

He then discovered that Yan Luo indeed wasn't wearing any exoskeleton, nor had any vehicle, using just his legs to run.

The issue was, Yan Luo's speed was only slightly slower than Violet Squad's armored vehicle!

Is this guy really an ordinary person?

After a momentary daze, Wu Zechuan realized that perhaps this was Yan Luo's 'secret.'

What kind of secret could make all City-breaking Level Demons move, must be preserved!

Wu Zechuan placed his left hand over the head of the staff, suddenly lifted it, and drew out five thin electric currents from the Magic Staff with his fingertips.

He waved his left hand forward, and suddenly, a storm of thunder appeared, pouring down upon the City-breaking Level Demons rushing towards Yan Luo.

Boom!

In his running, Yan Luo suddenly leaped, flipping over the head of a giant serpent, then slid to evade the claws of a fierce tiger.

A shockwave sped from afar, but Yan Luo twisted his ankle, crashing into the embrace of a nearby bear-like beast. The colossal black bear stretched its palm trying to pick up Yan Luo, just in time to shield him from the blast, only to be knocked away by a fiery stallion.

The all-white stallion with fiery mane opened its mouth to bite down on Yan Luo, as a sudden flash of white light appeared, and endless thunders descended.

Rays of dazzling lightning struck accurately each of the City-breaking Level Demons present, freezing them in place. Seizing the moment, Yan Luo sprung towards the temporary camp near the entrance.

Violet Squad had driven their armored vehicle up to the temporary camp, waiting for the gate to open. Before the gate opened, Yan Luo had already reached beside the armored vehicle.

"Yan Luo..."

"Isn't that Yan Luo?"

"Why isn't he wearing an exoskeleton?"

Violet Squad discussed among themselves.

Before they reached a conclusion, the camp gate opened, and Yan Luo entered alongside the armored vehicle.

Upon entering the temporary camp, Yan Luo finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Finally safe... for now.
