Dragons sure can sleep!
Duncan feels that if he doesn't manually control it, this second human form of the dragon can just eat and sleep, sleep and eat, wasting away decades.
The first human form took just a few days to get a grasp of the world's situation.
The second human form still remains clueless, unable to leave this frozen lake.
The key thing is, it has slept for a full seven days this time.
Duncan feels that to control it, he needs a bit of luck, because his consciousness primarily operates through the first human form, occasionally entering the Dimension Space when he has free time. The juvenile dragon, managed by 'Dragon's Legacy Memories,' falls back into slumber after feeding.
"Engraving across dimensional human forms, only the most important abilities are valuable."
"Those ordinary skills are completely unnecessary."
"However, the fundamental soul enhancement cannot be paused, clearly, my second human form is also under the influence of soul enhancement."
From the present circumstances.
The second human form needs a long time to reach a legendary level, while only the first human form currently has the strength to challenge legends.
"It's a bit like having a big account leading a small one in a game, but now the dragon is more like the undeveloped big account."
Sleep, sleep, sleep!
Let's see how many days you can sleep.
Duncan exited the Dimension Space and walked on the muddy roads of Southampton. His soul strength is still insufficient to split into more avatars, so one of the human forms must remain in a managed state.
In the meantime, his training has yielded some results, turning British auxiliary militia into the British Imperial Guard.
The second human form sleeps so heavily, leaving him with little to do.
Anya seems quite pleased.
With no battles to fight, Duncan has too much energy with nowhere to vent it, either challenging ten or so people in solo training at the drill ground or taking her on horseback rides to relax. Over time, it was a bit much for her; having been hungry for so long, being suddenly fed too full, initially finding chances to sneak some extra, later she unexpectedly went out to explore maritime trade.
She has some minor bruises now and needs a good ten days to half a month of rest.
So, after living the life of a country squire for a few days, Duncan finally decided to use this downtime to further enhance his own strength.
Severus has been overwhelmed with work.
When Duncan found him, he was discussing the next steps with Crow Queen Triss, on how to balance the faith issues between the church and Avalon and the Norse pantheon. Barbarian foreign legions are stationed along the coast, while believers of the church and Avalon mostly live inland, with recent focus on faith issues between the church and Avalon.
Duncan sat at the main seat listening for a while, then suddenly said: "Surely you're aware of the Arian Sect?"
The Arian Sect primarily spread in Barbarian regions.
Unlike other church factions, this sect believes Jesus is below God, with God being the highest deity, the only True God.
These are actually not key issues; the key is they oppose the church owning vast properties. They believe the church should focus more on the spiritual rather than worldly possessions, having high support within the Hermitage system.
It was roughly decades ago.
The Arian Sect suffered defeat, the theology of the Trinity was established, they were denounced as heretics again, and faded from prominence, eventually spreading only among Germanic barbarians, disappearing over time in history.
But currently, the Arian Sect still has strength, with many Franks, Goths, adhering to its beliefs.
Crow Queen Triss reacted quickly, her eyes brightening as she exclaimed: "You want to?"
Duncan gave Severus a glance, speaking solemnly: "Divide the enemy, strike from within!"
"The church's power is too strong."
"And the Hermitage controls many relics, even we find it hard to confront directly."
Overly radical ideas are unsuitable for now.
Protestantism may not acclimate well, radical change can easily lead to issues, so on the existing foundation, support weaker factions, creating a duel-footed confrontation within the church.
As long as the church cannot unify internally, outsiders will have breathing room.
Listening, Severus falls into deep thought, his expression invigorated as he says: "The Arian Sect has great influence in the Gaul Region, many faithful in the Western Goth kingdom."
"Their Hermitage strength is significant!"
"Supporting them could certainly stir internal church strife; they've rooted in Barbarian regions, resisting the Roman church all along."
Crow Queen Triss muses: "But what if they get too strong?"
"Could they turn against us?"
"After all, we're considered heretics to them, and the church always acts united externally."
Duncan leisurely took a sip of water, calmly saying: "Remember the Demon Hunter we encountered?"
Crow Queen Triss nodded: "Saint George, Dragon Slayer."
Duncan calmly stated: "Why do you think he chose to retire? Avoid internal church conflicts?"
"Church's internal battles are fiercer than we imagined."
"Even those titled saint are fed up, wanting to retreat for peace."
Should the church possess vast properties?
Should the concept of the Pope State be realized?
Duncan is unsure about the latter, but history provides answers; church-held properties are currently the biggest conflict.
Those Hermitage monks.
They are the true essence of the church, yet most monks lead a frugal life, possessing little property. It is precisely for this reason that the Roman Church and the Arian Sect preached separately, and their defeat then partly had to do with the emperor's intervention.
Duncan paused for a moment, looked at the two in thought, and continued, "This is just the first step."
"The second step is to establish a church belonging to the Britons."
"To fully indigenize the faith in God."
The trick of substituting the prince for the raccoon.
Historically, much of Celtic mythology was preserved by monks, and the church on Great Britain did not acknowledge the authority of the Roman Church. They had their own system of inheritance, and converting to Christianity did not entirely mean abandoning Celtic traditions. The priests of the various deities became monks of the church, secretly preserving the ancient myths.
Now the two of them understood.
Severus said excitedly, "Are you saying? Have some of the priests join the church as well?"
Duncan shrugged and said, "Why not?"
"Who says you can only believe in one divine spirit?"
"Which divine spirit is better, believe in that one."
"If it doesn't work out, then believe in several. After all, the divine spirits won't descend personally to rescue mortal suffering."
Why not?
It could actually be done this way!
Duncan's words suddenly enlightened the two present, especially the Crow Queen Triss, who thought of the Heretic Julian of those years. If they had played this trick back then, they wouldn't have failed so quickly. However, Rome was the stronghold of the church, and such games weren't feasible there.
Duncan still had one crucial point unspoken.
Everything was based on his strength; only by being strong enough could he have a say.
Great Britain was remote and overseas; for now, this could be tried.
In the future, however, he would have to subdue the Roman Church with overwhelming might.
This was just the initial stage, playing small paths and taking shortcuts. In the future, he must suppress the Roman Church with absolute power; only then can the religious disputes be quelled, solidifying everything within a relatively controllable range.
As for what happens in a thousand years, he can't control it, and mortals can believe in whoever they wish.
Severus was already eager.
He immediately stood up and said, "I'll go and secretly prepare now. In the Welsh regions and Cornwall, there are Druid priests who can completely convert to the church, infiltrate the enemy, and then find a way to make the local church completely independent."
Duncan glanced at him and said solemnly, "While converting, the most important thing to remember is the coexistence of faiths, not a single dominance."
When divine power weakens, royal power strengthens.
The Crow Queen Triss watched Severus leave, then turned her gaze to Duncan, her eyes brightening, filled with tender feelings. It seemed she discovered new qualities in Duncan again; he always surprised her. He seemed to have a keen intuition for handling everything.
Duncan laughed softly, holding Triss's fair hand, pulling her soft, curvaceous body into his embrace.
The Crow Queen Triss blushed deeply, sitting down obediently, then suddenly springing up as if pricked, her eyes fluttering, naturally enchanting. In a rush, her voice trembled slightly, "I have something to do, I'll be back later."
Duncan tugged at his clothes, watching the Crow Queen Triss's swaying figure leave hurriedly, his fingers lingering at his nose, as if the soft, creamy fragrance still remained.
He couldn't help it; at nineteen, his human form was too fiery.
The Crow Queen Triss gasped hurriedly after leaving the lord's residence. She hadn't felt right after sitting down for a while, fully aware but unsure, fearing accidentally breaking her vow of chastity.
All afternoon, the Crow Queen Triss's mind was in turmoil. Finally, she gritted her teeth and stomped her foot, returning to her residence by nightfall.
Anya said there was another way, but she had to keep it secret.
She decided to take the plunge.
In Southampton, the port area.
The port was slightly renovated during the past half-month. The Britons were fishermen by nature, and with Duncan's financial support, the fishermen were leading a good life. Since people had money, they wanted to eat meat, and in this era, fish was definitely the cheapest meat.
The influence Duncan brought extended beyond this.
He was of Roman descent, and it was well known that Romans loved enjoyment; the imperial opulence had been passed down for a long time. Although Duncan did not lead a luxurious life, he had certain standards regarding food.
Thus, the Britons, learning from their lord, were finally able to produce a bit of decent cuisine.
Tears welled up.
The Britons began learning to use spices and seasonings to prepare food. Occasionally, they picked up some imperial cooking techniques. Though still not up to par with the Franks across the channel, at least they made a start. Centuries ago, the native nobility of Britain emulated the Roman governors, initiating a Romanization process.
Now their diet was evolving towards a civilized country's, pursuing the texture and taste of food.
Refreshing!
Duncan felt invigorated in the early morning, riding with the general's guard around Southampton. Without daily activity, he had no outlet for his abundant energy. Along the way, citizens bowed and nodded, some even knelt on one knee, with an occasional cheer of support.
That wasn't the most exaggerated part.
Early on, when Duncan, holding the Oathkeeper, declared them free from their slave or serf status and granted them land and free citizen status, some even knelt to kiss the ground he walked on.
Every day, Duncan's training grounds were surrounded by people, cheering for his bravery, and young women dressed brightly often appeared.
If Duncan didn't only fancy an attractive witch, those native young women would likely flock to him.
"You're back?!"
Duncan looked pleasantly surprised, heading straight for the dock, though Anya hadn't returned, his scouts did.
Supernatural creatures, in the north, Scandinavia, within the coastal mountains.
