Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 773: Setting Out

The mobsters still thought that those who had died were taken out by rivals in gang disputes, but the reality was that it was almost impossible for anyone involved in the turf wars between two factions to emerge unscathed. At the behest of the Black Snake gang's leader, dozens of mobsters quickly surrounded the street...

In fact, the block hadn't housed many people to begin with, and those who lived there belonged to the lowest tier of Icebird's citizens. Despite this, they still had to make a living, but now, every household had bolted their doors tight, afraid of offending the desperados.

At this moment, with the creak of a door, Feng Yi stepped outside, feeling the cool breeze against his face. His uniquely textured military boots crunched on the fallen leaves with subtle sounds...

The gangsters all fixed their gaze on Feng Yi, tightening their grip on their weapons and scrutinizing him closely. The man exuding a heavy aura of intimidation didn't seem easy to deal with. Watching his steady pace, strong movements, sharp eyes, and a temperament strikingly different from ordinary people, the mobsters turned their attention to their leader.

"Get down, then we talk."

The henchmen didn't think their opponent stood on any ground to negotiate, and as their leader's gaze changed, dozens of them collectively aimed their weapons at Feng Yi.

Unfortunately for them, they were very disappointed, for they didn't see even a hint of fear on Feng Yi's face.

Instead, the Space Crystal at Feng Yi's neck flashed, and an IS-7 sniper rifle materialized out of thin air. He kicked upwards with one foot while reaching out with his hand to snatch it, effortlessly flipping the heavy IS-7 sniper rifle onto his shoulder—a familiar scene, a reminiscence of the past. It was as if he had returned to the old days of 103, transforming into that seasoned freelance mercenary who was always locked in a struggle against criminals and felons.

"I killed them. What, you want to fight?"

Just from the motion of flipping the sniper rifle and the fluidity of his movements, it was clear that this man was no ordinary person. The leader could see in his unfathomable eyes the truth that others couldn't discern—he feared none of the people present. Clearly, this guy was a true battle-hardened veteran who had licked blood off the edge of a knife!

But before the short-haired leader could speak, a mobster who had failed to understand the situation decided to challenge Feng Yi. What's there to be afraid of? After all, he was surrounded by brothers. To dare wield a weapon against so many—it seemed like he was truly tired of living.

Before the man could pull the trigger, Feng Yi flicked his wrist with a swift backhand swing, and a gun shot cracked the silence of the block. That person's motion was forever frozen a second before the trigger was pulled.

Simultaneously, several others pulled their triggers at him, but Feng Yi's movements became even more powerful then. His coherent actions seemed like second nature, spinning at the right moment to ingeniously dodge the enemies' pre-aimed shots while managing to fire two bullets at the same time. His motion barely paused before he abruptly kicked out, turning a small pebble into a projectile that knocked another man, who hadn't yet drawn his weapon, to the ground.

The leader had already realized that this guy was far from ordinary, perhaps even beyond the capability of dozens of his brothers together. So he hastily shouted for them to stop, bringing the brief confrontation to an abrupt stop at his command.

Yes, the man before them was tough, definitely not someone to be taken lightly or intimidated easily with a few words. Instead, he seemed even keener on killing than them.

"I don't know who you are. The Black Snake gang has no feud with you. Why did you kill my brothers?"

"A bunch of people were making noise and disturbing my rest. Isn't that reason enough?" Feng Yi knew he shouldn't implicate the nearby residents, so he tried to take as much of the responsibility onto himself. Anyway, Apophis would arrive in just a few days.

"You...sleeping...in this block?" The leader couldn't comprehend this, but clearly, this guy was even less approachable than himself.

Feng Yi remained silent, but his hands on his weapon tightened, as if ready to strike at any moment. This detail didn't escape the leader's notice; in fact, it was exactly what Feng Yi wanted the other man to see.

"I'm not sure where you sleep, but we can try to avoid you. This room, maybe?" The man pointed to Hugo's grocery store.

"I have been active in this area recently, nothing more to disclose. I came to this grocery store just to get some alcohol to drink. I have answered your questions, now it's your turn. Will you go or will we fight?"

"I still have..."

Before the leader could finish his sentence, there was a sharp click. Feng Yi didn't hesitate to release the magazine, his nimble fingers reloading it almost too fast for the eye to see, followed by another warning gunshot. He shrugged and hummed, "I have waited long enough. Asking again, what's your answer?"

Feng Yi casually raised his eyebrows towards the leader's direction, his calm voice giving no indication of a threat, yet it was this very detachment that startled the leader into silence. Without a doubt, the next second, he would attack everyone. At that moment, the presence Feng Yi brought made it clear he was an impatient, bloodthirsty brute—wild, aggressive, unreasonable. Yes, he was the personification of a demon.

The border city was the most archetypical den of sin on Icebird Star, home to various Ancient Martial Arts factions brawling covertly and overtly, desperados who had crossed borders, terrorists, and wanted criminals with unknown pasts. The experience of survival told the black-clad leader that the brute before him was definitely not someone the mafia could provoke lightly. Compared to him, the mafia was like an immature child. The sheer brutality emanating from his bones made one's scalp tingle with dread...
